3rd time camping at Upper Shire. Absolutely love it. So peaceful and quiet. Love the outdoor showers. Close to Hudson for dinners but you have to go to Hy’s Fried Chicken which is 7 minutes away. Will def be back.

Hosts are lovely and genuinely care about the visitors to this very special place. 5 great camp spots. Plenty of privacy. Very clean outdoor shower. We stayed in the retro Airstream which has comfortable sleeping inside. Enjoy the outside with a nice sunshield, table, chairs, fire pit and 2 hammocks. My bird app identified 11 different species of birds in just a few minutes one morning. Amazing. Loved it.

Upper Shire Meadow
Incredible sites and great communication. You get what you pay for here. We stayed in our van on upper shire and the site was clean and very secluded from the other sites. The firewood was very well seasoned and there was even a five gallon jug of water. Each site has its own porta potty. There is a spotless shower house with great bath products from Meyer’s. We had an absolutely awesome time and Joanna’s suggestions for what to do nearby were fabulous.

Our group loved staying at the Upper Shire tent site. It was spacious and private with shade available for ~3 tents, a fire pit surrounded by adirondack chairs, and hammocks. The port a potty was clean and the shower hut was a dream. The paths through the property were beautiful and our dog loved splashing around in the pond, though we didn’t get around to using the canoe ourselves. Also, there were magically no bugs at all? I don’t understand the science of that but we were not complaining. Fireflies all night long. We can’t wait to go back!

This was my second stay at this wonderful property. However this time we stayed in the new cabin which was super nice and tastefully set up. The cabin is very close to the showers which are also very nice and modern. The bed here is very comfortable. But I'd say the sofa, which flattens out, is not very comfortable for an adult. small kids probably won't care! All in all a very pretty property and close to a quaint town of Hillsdale for your needs.

We loved camping at Upper Shire! The cabin was amazing. It was cozy and had all of the amenities that we needed and then some! It was well built and very cute. We definitely recommend taking the canoe out on the little pond. It was gorgeous. Joanna was extremely hospitable. We are definitely coming back.

Off Grid A-Frame Cabin by The Pond
The A-frame was impeccably clean, spacious and gave our family of 4 real protection from the wet weather we encountered when visiting. The outhouse in a v short walk away, as were the very welcome showers. There was a Jackery power source and everything was very easy. Note that you are aware of other campers from nearby sites, as the Cabin and AirStream are very close by: it didn't bother us, as the guests were very courteous and easygoing. I would only comment that the futon couch didn't work for us to sleep both of our children (5&7), as it was rather small for them.

We were lucky enough to be the first official visitors to Joanna’s new cabin! Great campgrounds, well maintained. Loved the outdoor shower and the cabin was very comfortable. Joanna is a great host and very responsive. The location is wonderful. We look forward to coming back!

This was our second time camping here, and it was again wonderful. Jo was incredibly accomodating as we navigated getting out of the city, and the a-frame is so cozy! We also loved the (brand new) outdoor showers. On the rainy day we checked out nearby restaurants and Berkshire towns - especially recommend Great Barrington. We'll definitely be back!

Joanna’s sites are beautifully and thoughtfully laid out. The airstream was comfortable and fun to sleep in. Joanna was communicative and helpful. We saw turtles in the pond, a barred owl, lotsa birds and deer walked by too.

This was my second trip to Uppershire. It’s a wonderful piece of property with amazing hosts Barb and Joanna. Each site is curated carefully and the amenities keep being added. Last year a hot outdoor shower and this year a new log cabin for a glamping experience. Although I am a squaredrop camper (think queen bed on wheels) I really appreciate the serene land coupled with the amazing hosts, and cute town ta boot.

Joanna and Barb could not have been more wonderful hosts. They were incredibly gracious, kind and went out of their way to help us with a car troubles in a pinch. We can’t wait to come back to the upper shire campground soon. What a beautiful part of the world!

We had a great weekend stay at the off-grid A-frame by the pond! The setting was lovely and peaceful. Our kids and dog enjoyed playing in the open space, and we enjoyed relaxing by the fire pit! We took a little canoe out on the pond and did some fishing, we went hiking, and visited the nearby cidery. Joanna was communicative, responsive, and friendly! The cabin was cozy... thankful for the propane heater as the temperature dipped below 30 degrees at night. Five stars, highly recommend. We will be back!

We loved tent camping here! Joanna’s directions made it easy to find and she was there to greet us upon arrival. The site was clean and quiet 🥰. Our two pups also had a blast 🐾 We loved that the site is
dog-friendly. Joanna checked up on us throughout and gave great recommendations. Be sure to check out the farmers market. Great selection of produce, meats and other local vendors. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and we will be back!

1987 Airstream at Tin Can Valley
The property is so beautiful and so well maintained. Joanna was an excellent host and had great recommendations for things to do as a group with our baby and our dog! I also appreciated how Ed easy it was to find our site.

This was a great, secluded camp site with little trails around the property. We all had a relaxing time over the weekend. The highlight of the trip was the quite nights and hot, outdoor showers! Joanna was very communicative during the process of booking and provided everything we needed. We'd definitely come back

Pine Grove Bell Tent
The host was kind, the private environment was wonderful, and the surrounding nature was stunning. Everything was perfect. There were no unwelcome visitors like at night, and no mosquito bites for me and the firewood provided by the host was excellent for a campfire. I will definitely come back again.

WOW! What a beautiful campsite. Not just the tent site but all the sites were beautiful. Everything was tidy, the Portajohns were clean, and the new showers were such a joy. It was so nice I slept the night outside in one of the hammocks. 75 degree day and 50 degree night. My wife and 8 year old daughter loved it! We woke up and made a fireside breakfast and walked the manicured trails.
Completely exceeded my expectations a will absolutely return.
We took our travel trailer and it was not a problem to level out on the upper meadow and then drive straight out to exit.

What a special place at the Upper Shire to pitch our tent! Complete with 4 adirondack chairs, fire pit, potable water in a container with spigot, and a clean porta potty. And the new outdoor shower was perfect. The general area is lovely and scenic. We spent time at the Taconic State Park, Bash Bish Falls, and Hillsdale's large farmer's market. This was my first camping trip and I'm glad to stay this experience has inspired me to do more. Thanks for your hospitality Joanna! Ivey and John
