“Ubuntu” Def: An ancient African word meaning “Humanity to others”. It is a reminder of “I am what I am because of who we all are.” We do our best to bring the spirit of Ubuntu to our lives and property that we have been graced with. We hope your visit to Ubuntu will be peaceful and rejuvenating. Ubuntu was the PERFECT place to observe the Northern Lights on Friday and Saturday (May 10-11). Campers at Ubuntu found the perfect spot to observe the April 8th TOTAL solar eclipse. There are no lights, no neighbors in sight, and they had the freedom to choose their campsite or observation point, whether it was on the flat, nestled in the trees, or on top of Carney Mountain. RV’s also easily found a spot to camp. New friends were made as everyone observed the eclipse. It was totally awe inspiring in so many ways!! The open areas and the top of Carney Mountain, which is a short hike with panoramic views of the area, were perfect spots to experience the solar eclipse, Northern Lights, sunrises and sunsets. The 115 acres of Ubuntu offer many opportunities for camping, hiking and enjoying the abundant wildlife. There is a wet area that sometimes becomes several ponds if the beavers have been at work. There is a path leading to the ponds and also one that runs through the woods to the right of the ponds. The location is private and quiet but still very accessible (only 10 minutes from Exit 34 off the Northway) to all the Adirondacks has to offer, such as biking, jogging, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and hiking. Ubuntu is located only 45 minutes from Lake Placid and the high peaks areas, Saranac Lake is about one hour away, Lake Champlain is 20 minutes away, and Montreal is one hour away. The ferry to Vermont if you wish to cross over the pond (Lake Champlain) is about 45 minutes away. And Exit 34 off the Northway is only 10 minutes from Ubuntu. And if you love equestrian sports, the Willow Hill Equestrian Center is less than 1.5 miles away. Bring your horse and stable your buddy at the Willow Hill Farm, or sign up for a lesson with one of their accomplished instructors. Your furry pets are welcome, but we ask that you keep them on a leash if they tend to chase game or do not have a reliable recall. Please use good judgment. There are many deer on the property, so yes we do have ticks. Please take the necessary precautions. Generators are allowed but in keeping with the peace and tranquility of Ubuntu, please run them only between the hours of 12:00 - 2 PM, especially if other campers are present.. This is for our Tent sites. We have 6 tent campsites with fire pits. Most have a picnic table. Tenters may also find a spot that you like and set up. All tent sites are accessible by car. Presently there is one outhouse centrally located with another one on the way.

We have no specific designated camping sites. There are two fields that are suitable for a limit of 6 sites for RVs or campers to pull into. We have one outhouse centrally located and soon there will be two. We ask that guests take all other waste with them and leave no trace.

Adirondacks with puppy!

Spent one night at Ubuntu while exploring the Adirondacks with my doggo. Loved the privacy of the site, views of hillsides with fall colors, stargazing and walking paths! Aisha was kind and attentive when she greeted us and the wood bundle was a generous size and dry. There were other campers, but the smaller site in the woods was completely private. Would go back!

Beautiful site with so much space with a fire ring and a picnic table. Aisha went above and beyond and met me upon arrival. Without asking, she considered what I might need most and suggested to have the site closest to the outhouse. As a solo woman traveling, I really appreciated that. The outhouse also smelled awesome with the cedar shavings you scatter after use. Her artworks brought a relaxing vibe and her living close by made me feel safe. It truly deserves to be the best of hipcamps in NY.

We loved our stay at Ubuntu. The property was beautiful, Aisha was a wonderful and welcoming host and the our dog loved being off leash! It was a quiet, peaceful getaway and a great location for a starting off point or a place to spend your whole time in the Adirondacks!

Friendly host, nicely mowed campsite, fairly flat, great views, there's an art gallery in the outhouse, enough sky for solar power, and a nice little trail (well-marked!) up to the mountain top nearby.

Loved camping here. We stayed at the Big View site which we loved. It had a huge firepit, and a smaller second. Felt like just sleeping in the woods.

Peaceful place- we stayed at the open field camp spot and although near the outhouse it was very private and quiet. The stars were incredible and we enjoyed the green and quiet. Aisha was sweet and informative and we would definitely go back.

What can I say about this place? Paradise? Eden? It’s just amazing, Aisha was such a superb host with a warm smile, welcome energy and willingness to answer questions and guide. The tent site was pristine, with an amazing view that can’t be beat especially at night. We felt very private in our area even with other campers not far away. We had one of our campers get a flat the last day, Aisha was so helpful and accommodating while we handled the issue. The Ausable River was nearby! Giving us a chance to hunt for beautiful labradorite when the sun was shining, and on site there was a short but fulfilling trail that leads to the top of the mountain, a MUST do when staying here. The outhouse was in great condition, and well maintained (campers I hope continue to be respectful to help everyone be able to use the facilities comfortably). 5/5 isn’t enough to say about this place, I hope to be back sooner then later!

The Mountain View site is flat and sandy with a great view of the mountain side. The outhouse is very comfortable and super clean. We appreciated the beautiful artwork!

Aisha's spot was everything we could've asked for and more. It was quiet, peaceful, and well kept. A perfect home base to go explore the Adirondacks from, and the town of Keeseville close by to replenish campsite needs. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great say in the Adirondacks & we will definitely be back if we find ourselves traveling around these parts again!

We loved the place, it was very quiet, the tent spots are very intimate, lost in the woods. The outhouse is very clean and finally, the owner is welcoming. And the have fresh eggs! Would absolutely go back.

Ubuntu is a slice of paradise… small quaint little gem hidden away between a few small mountains and very close to the beautiful Ausable River. It was very private and we had the whole campground to ourselves. The hosts sell fresh farm eggs and firewood. The sites are almost all accessible by RV with a few more private sites just a few meters up the hill from the main spot. We were also able to self check-in, which was great as we arrived much much later than expected.
