Nestled along the quiet countryside of Moscow Road, our campsite offers a peaceful retreat just minutes from the shores of Lake Ontario and the scenic trails of Hamlin Beach State Park. This area, steeped in history and natural charm, provides an ideal backdrop for campers seeking tranquility and adventure.​ Hamlin, established in 1852 and renamed in honor of Vice President Hannibal Hamlin in 1861, is a town rich in heritage. The nearby Hamlin Beach State Park, spanning 1,287 acres, boasts sandy beaches, hiking and biking trails, and a nature trail with educational markers. The park's history includes a Civilian Conservation Corps camp and a World War II POW camp, adding a unique historical dimension to your visit. ​ Whether you're here to relax under the stars, explore the rich history, or enjoy the natural beauty of the region, The Homestead at 1868 provides a perfect setting. With easy access to fishing, hiking, and local attractions, your stay promises to be both restful and enriching. There is a porta-potty and an outdoor shower (with hot water) located next to the shed a short distance from the campsite. To enhance the privacy and experience for our campers, we’ve installed a privacy fence and planted trees along the gap in the tree line at the back corner of the property (see pictures). While there is still a partial view of the house through this area, the fencing and landscaping significantly reduce visibility and help create a more secluded and peaceful camping space. We’re continually working to improve the natural screening for your comfort and privacy.There's ample space for two vehicles and two tents, with room to accommodate larger campers as well.

The camp site was easy to get into and set up, plenty of room, camp site was plush green grass, very quiet, Dan and Sarah were very friendly. 'Cons' shower was cold, took forever to get warm water, magshift inclosior, very drafty, leaves and pine needles all over the floor, maybe fine for summer time, overall we were happy with our stay, and plan on returning

Dan and Sarah are always wonderful... I am full time noamd. I was able to come late , after getting into the Buffalo airport. The site and hospitality continue to exceed my expectations.

I was VERY impressed with all the changes and the amenities that are now available at this place. There is water to drink. There is a hot shower to enjoy after a long day. Sarah is a sweetheart and wonderful host

Spacious and private, perfect stop on our trip! Sarah and Dan left really clear directions and the fire pit was set up for us already. Lovely quiet stay :)

I am a repeat guest and I have nothing but positive things to say about this place. Sarah and her husband are always offer fresh veggies or water , if I need it. I am glad I can fill up my bottles on a hot day.

I am repeat guest and each stay honestly gets better and better. I have never felt such love and kindness from strangers, who have become like family to me. I arrived back and there was a welcome sign on the picnic table. The host is also working on some upgrades to make this place even better , I know!!!

A Heart of Gratitude in the Country

Dan and Sarah open their home and their heart. I said three days and I felt at home. I was able to fill up my water. Their daughters even made a cookie cake and my heart was so full from the kindness.

I have to say that one the better camps I have been too. The owners are kind and welcoming The host are helpful with their instructions. The place is semi private and tucked back from the house and road. I love staying here as I work camp and hike in the area.. I was so happy, I booked two more nights

Cannot say enough great things about the hospitality Dan & Sarah provided. Communication was prompt & they allowed us to arrive late, after dark, with clear instructions on how to find the site. They had the fire already going around the cozy setup they provide & for the price you really cannot beat this. 3 min drive to public beach access which makes for an awesome morning too!

It was pretty private and nicely kept. I’m sure they don’t do this for everyone but they even had a fire going for us when we arrived. Perfect stop on our way through the area!
