It’s very bare bones. I would recommend this place for adventure seekers only. The cabin is whimsical and unusual. My boyfriend had trouble sleeping - I would not recommend for tall people. The host was nice but he trauma dumped a little too much.

The Ravens Nest
Joseph was a great host and has a great property with plenty to do. My son and I fished in the pond, went swimming in the stream, and explored the woods. Definitely had a nice stay.

Joseph takes great pride in providing a great camping experience. He makes you feel like you are part of his family. He took the time to explain all aspects of the amenities on his property and at our campsite. He is just a really nice, kind, considerate man. His property is well maintained with a whimsical feel. The camping was great. We cannot wait to visit again. Thanks Joseph for a wonderful weekend.

The Cupola
We enjoyed our stay— the house and setting were really special. And Joseph was a great host & communicated quickly. I really appreciated the simplicity of the arrangement and came prepared with sheets, some basics, etc. Though we were not rugged enough to withstand the cold shower, hehe. It made us stronger.

Joseph was hospitable at 10.30 pm when we arrived, and helped with unpacking and lodging) we spent 2 nights under the rain and it was amazing, were fishing during the day and camp firing in the evening ) considering to go again )

This place is absolutely amazing! I cannot recommend it enough. Came with my wife and daughters and we had the most magical time. The Secret Chalet is truly a marvel. So well crafted and the pictures really can't do it justice with all the asymmetrical details. You have to see it in person to really appreciate it.
The grounds are pristine and add to the magic. Feels like a world away.
To top it all off, Joseph is a gem and super helpful. He seemed to just be there when we needed him but not when we didn't. He's also just an artist in the way he set the place up. Every little detail added to the overall artistic vibe throughout.
I cannot recommend this place enough. My girls have already made me promise that we're coming back ASAP.

Joseph has put his heart into this place. He welcomed us warmly, helping us haul gear and then offered us a little tour of the surroundings. There's a full lockable bathroom by the spring, fed with its water. He has three unique structures as well as a couple of tent sites nearby. There are subtle ground lights along the path that leads to the bathroom and down to the parking area. He and his family were very gracious and kind, and I'd definitely recommend this place to a friend.

Joseph’s place was the perfect place to jumpstart our summer, it was exactly as described and our dog Leo loved running around in the grass while we cooked over the fire. When we arrived Joseph gave us a tour and helped bring our stuff up & before we left for the weekend we were able to take a peek at the other cabins that he built himself! At Raven’s Nest there’s a two futon style beds, a fridge, a deck, microwave, running water in the sink, electricity, and basic cooking supplies in the space. We brought our own foil, seasoning, food, linens etc. there’s an AC available but it wasn’t charged at the time so Joseph left a fan for us and that was perfect for our needs (the weather was great over MDW!) There’s lots to do in the area outdoors but we stopped by the farmers market on Sunday & ate at some local spots including the Do Good Spirits distillery in Roscoe & Kaatstellers’s in Livingston Manor which is only 20 min away. There’s no cell service at the trailer, but there’s Wifi. Also appreciated that there were two flush toilets (and a shower) on site. All 3 cabins were booked while we were there, and from Raven’s Nest, you do have to walk through the other sites to get to the toilet, but it wasn’t a problem, everyone who goes “glamping” is friendly & we enjoyed our short stay! There’s lots of cute knick knacks and vintage items for sale in the cabins and you can buy firewood (and other things) in the commissary on site! (Bring cash, or you can PayPal) thanks so much!!!

The Cupola was a cozy stay in a beautiful place! Everything was well maintained, including the bathrooms, and it felt like a great mix of camping and amenities. Everything that we needed was provided (just make sure to bring pillows, sheets, pots/pans etc!), and anything we forgot could be bought in Joseph’s commissary or in the town close by. Would definitely come again for a weekend getaway!

My Family and I (2 adults, 2 children) loved our time in the cabin. It was perfect to have our boys pitch a tent, set up their camp, and get to exploring while my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the well-appointed, perfectly rustic creature comforts.
Joe’s a class-act and a super generous spirit - he and his wife are good people, all around.
Don’t miss Joe’s recommendations for how to enjoy the area - only a short drive to Roscoe for great food/drink. Killer Orvis shop there too, ridiculously good used book section for those who know.
We’re looking forward to next time.

Had a great stay at the Hidden Chalet. The Cupola was a super fun camper for two nights. A cozy fit for two people with double/full size bed, running cold water, lights, small fans, a DVD TV combo, and some utensils/plates, and burners for cooking (we just made coffee). A private above ground fire pit with wood available in the commissary. There was hot water shower and flushing bathroom very close (a bit loud cause of the pump though).
The property is really cool too. There’s the Secret Chalet, Ravens Nest and other primitive campsites on the hill close by. Down the hill is the stocked pond, caught some trout, another half bath, commissary, and Joseph's place and adjacent airstream, etc.
Joseph was a great host. Very responsive for questions and knowledgeable in the area.

Joseph is very welcoming! He gave us a tour of the property when we arrived. It is a creative little compound, for a comfortable weekend stay. Bring cash so you can buy a vintage trinket on your way out.

The Ravens Nest
The Raven’s nest was a fun and unique experience. It gives you the same relaxing, secluded, outdoor camping feel while also having the comfortability of a home. The inside had a fridge, stovetop, running water, and electric which was very convenient.

We had a short and sweet stay at the cupola. Joseph was super responsive, the camper was cozy and the outhouse was super clean. We brought out 25 pound dog and she had a blast on the property. Would definitely visit again!

The Hole In the Wall
Joseph's dedication to the grounds, lodging, and facilities is obvious and impressive. My girlfriend and I enjoyed tent camping here for a weekend and got the opportunity to tour each of the beautiful, unique cabins.
Joseph is an excellent host and his land is a truly special spot to get away and enjoy the mountains of NY. We can't wait to return

Really wild and quiet place! We stopped there for one night on our way to Finger lakes with a rental camper van in end September. We were alone on the site. Joseph was really nice on the phone to explain us everything. We parked the van close to the river and enjoy the fire pit. It was super cold during the night and we were happy to have some good sleeping bags. The toilet was very clean and cute. The water to wash dishes and hands was super cold and our hands were freezing, but it worth it for a wild campsite. We though it was quiet expensive though, especially with the hipcamp fees added.

This place was very cool and eccentric. Lots of little knick knacks decorating the place. Joseph was very nice and accommodating, he helped us carry our bags up to the site. There was a heater inside that made the space nice and cozy for our night there.
Just to set some expectations- it's not a luxury place. It's definitely still camping. There's a stove and microwave which was very nice. No shower access due to some maintenance issues, but there was a toilet that we had to walk down to the lower part of the property to use. We definitely heard some mice crawling around outside, but it didn't bother us. There are 2 futons to sleep on, which fit me, my fiance, and our 80 pound labradoodle.
Overall, it was a unique and fun adventure. Something I'll don't think I'll forget!

We loved camping on Joseph’s land!! The Cupola was super cute and cozy and just what we needed! Joseph was really kind and was happy to help. Directions were clear and Joseph has anything you could need available for a small fee (firewood, bug spray, etc). Overall a great experience!

We had an amazing stay with Joe! He gave us a full tour of the grounds when we arrived. He's very proud of the space he's created and he should be - every cabin looked very clean and comfortable and the surroundings were serenely beautiful. The Cupola itself was perfect for us. It was well stocked and a perfect place to get away from it all.
Joe was also an amazing host. He's very happy to chat with his guests if they're interested. We learned a lot about the history and knowledge of the area as well as many of his hobbies. Make sure to chat with Joe since he's an incredibly cool guy.
Definitely recommend staying here - we're excited to go back!
