The cabin was very dirty. Mouse droppings in a number of locations throughout. When I walked in there were random socks on the floor. Kitchenware wasn't clean and there was no water on site to clean it with. Beds looked like they had just been used (I slept on the couch by the woodstove). Rusty old propane tank with old dirty looking grills on the porch. A fridge that could not work (due to no electrical outlets). The propane cooktop in the kitchen worked fine. Strongly recommend you bring EVERYTHING you need with you if staying here. The cabin itself was a beautiful representation of the past which was very appealing. The smell, sight, and sounds of a fire in the wood burning stove (with which there was plenty of firewood to use) while reading a book by candlelight in the quiet northern NY woods was great! The place has a lot of charm and appeal but was far too dirty and unkept to recommend to anyone.

The Cabin
The cabin was very quaint and private with two wood burning stoves and plenty of space for 4 people plus a dog. However, the coziness and warmth of the place did not make up for the fact that it was incredibly dirty. The place looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years and there were mouse droppings everywhere. We were hesitant to touch or use anything because of the mouse poop on the couches, counters, sinks -- even the pots and pans. We laid down a tarp in the living room and slept on it with the camping supplies we brought on the trip because we didn't want to sleep directly on the floor or beds due to the concern of how dirty it was. This place has so much potential to be an awesome getaway, but due to its neglect, I wouldn't go back which is a shame

It was dirty. There were mice. More than anything though, there wasn’t drinking water, which the listing said there would be. With a few small changes this place could be great, but as it was I can’t recommend it.

Charming rustic home in the woods of upstate NY. The host left us plenty of wood and the wood stoves kept the cabin plenty warm despite the freezing temps. Would recommend bringing extra water if staying more than two nights.

Nice cabin, as advertised! Cozy and warm with the fireplace and candles (bring candles by the way). Note also that there is no running water, the potable water is provided in a big jug. The propane fridge and oven work well, but we did feel the need to clean the kitchen before use. Several hikes within 30-60 minutes of the cabin.
There was an unplanned issue and the host was not available when we arrived at the cabin. However we did get a partial refund to cover the water we ended up having to buy so I would definitely recommend for people looking for a rustic stay.

This cabin was the perfect spring/winter escape. We brought our own bedding and cookware which was useful. The wood stoves kept us nice and warm and having a fridge and stove was a huge plus. They even left us fresh eggs from the neighbors chickens! Close by to some awesome hikes, will definitely be back!

It was a really nice, rustic cabin. No power, a few batteries run the lights in the cabin. We went on an exceptionally cold, snowy couple of days and had to keep the fires going 24/7 to fight the cold, but it was 15 outside and 60 inside! We were given a tub of firewood and access to much more, so we chopped wood to keep warm. No outlets to charge anything, bring your own charging supplies. We didn't get the fridge to work, but we just threw snow into the cooler for food and put our drinks outside. The indoors toilets are broken or shut down for the season, but there's an outhouse. AT&T and mint/T-mobile got pretty solid cell service up there.
It was a lovely getaway!

Julian’s cabin was exactly what I was looking for my family’s trip to the Almanzo Wilder homestead. What a great opportunity to step back in time, unplug, and settle into the simple life. We loved the candle lighting, wood burning stove and complimentary marshmallows. Truly a unique stay.
