Extremely Private Sites & Unique Fire Tower Rental Available ~ Our bucolic farmland was originally for milking cows, it was leased at times for mining red slate when Granville was at its peak. Technology changed and the industry left us with beautiful abandoned quarry holes that have filled with natural spring water. Sweeping pastoral landscapes mixed with densely wooded private acres make our camping experience unique and varied. We have developed a network of trails to enjoy and have innumerable activities to mention! Originally purchased 20 years ago, we are finally enjoying the process of developing the our farmhouse, the barns, and year round activities that include raising our own animals and growing our own vegetables. We have ambition to one day have bespoke off the grid private cabins within the woods to be enjoyed through all the seasons. We also have a 40 acre parcel with a Fire Tower that is Incredible. No words to describe! We hope you want to become a part of the story here too some day soon!

Great views & great vibes
Absolutely beautiful! Great views, great vibes, great hikes. The trials were awesome with lots of charming surprises to find along the journey. This hops campsite was just the perfect amount of seclusion and the views from the yard were out of this world.

This place is perfection!
As always - we had an amazing time at Slateville Secluded Camps! Such a peaceful and picturesque place to camp - and Heather and. Paul are just such wonderful hosts. This time I brought my daughter along and she throughly enjoyed the stay as well! I can’t say enough about this place, it’s simply magical. We will return again!

The Oak Tree Site
So wonderful!
I had a magical time staying in the Oak Tree Site at Slateville! Heather is a lovely and hospitable host. The drive to get from the farmhouse to the campsite is a short and totally manageable road if you have 4WD. Heather helps guide the way which is really sweet! It was convenient to have wifi near the farmstand (about a 5 min drive from the oak tree site). The site itself is incredibly spacious with sweeping views of the hills. The property is gorgeous to explore, with swimming and hiking opportunities. I did end up driving over to VT to swim at Lake St. Catherine and to hang in Paulette a bit (great market/food there called Mach's). But I could have just hung out at Slateville the whole time with all that it has to offer! Felt so restored after this trip. I'd say if you are sensitive to light then bring an eye mask, because there is a fire tower on the property that has a spinning light at night. Thank you Heather for a beautiful visit!

The Oak Tree Site
A must visit!
This was the best campsite of our trip! The oak tree site is amazing. Gorgeous views and we loved exploring the trails/swimming holes. When we went into town to buy more food, one of the farm hands was kind enough to open Heather's stand so we could buy fresh produce. Cannot recommend enough.

An amazing place to camp!
My son and I love Slateville Secluded Camp! We’ve come here many times and look forward to future visits. Heather and Paul are incredible people and hosts- I’m amazed at the constant goings on and new projects that they are able to accomplish - new trails, new animals, and some really cool ideas and projects on the horizon! Can’t wait to go back!

Best camping trip with our labs
We spent 4 days at this wonderful place and had so much fun! Very private campsites ( we stayed at the “owl”) and although it rained the 1st evening it quickly cleared up and the weather was great for the remainder! Heather is absolutely wonderful and was very attentive to our needs plus welcomed our 2 labs (who are giving a 5 🐶 review!) Great trails for walking and biking, awesome quarry to swim in and Heather’s vegetables are amazing! Def plan to buy her produce, eggs, chicken and also some great pickles. The views on the walking trails are absolutely beautiful and great opportunity for picnic or an evening glass of wine at sunset. This will be spectacular in the fall! We are definitely planning to come back and try another site or maybe the boat will be ready for Air BnB🤗!

The Ridgeline RV Site
Beautiful, relaxing, and welcoming!
Heather’s farm is incredibly beautiful first and foremost. It’s also secluded without being off the beaten path. Heather is very welcoming and has everything you need and more to have a great trip! We want to come back and stay at the tower site but there are so many great sites to choose from and they’re working on even MORE! If you’re in upstate New York you’d be hard pressed to find a better spot.

We had a wonderful time at Slateville Secluded Camp. Our hostess Heather was wonderful. Our campsite and the entire property was scenic and peaceful. The eggs, fruits and vegetables, and other jarred goods from the farm stand were excellent! Also loved the outdoor hot shower at end of day. Highly recommend and would visit again.

Beautiful camping experience
This was an absolutely stunning and beautiful experience. My sister and I are roadtripping and decided to stay at this place because it sounded so cute to stay in a fire tower one night. We were absolutely blown away as to how beautiful this site was and wish we could've spent more time. The bed was comfortable, there was an entire shower, toilet, and kitchen. Perfect place for a retreat. Heatherr was also incredibly kind and helpful, and we really appreciated how welcoming she was. I highly highly recommend!!

My second trip with HipCamp and I don't think any future sites will top Slateville Secluded Camp- it was a delightful experience with thought behind every detail. Ample privacy, and a variety of natural settings—(wooded forests, meadows and valleys, panoramic vista, ponds, and the best-a swimmable Quarry). We also lucked out with perfect weather. I highly reccomend this site with lovely hosts who even put on a 4th of July fireworks show for us!

Very special place. Stunning location. Secluded spot (the Hops) made us feel like we were far from everyone. Quarry swimming was exhilarating and the highlight. The upshot: we want to stay again for July 4 next year

Don't question it, just book it!
This was a highlight of our east coast road trip. This was also our first hip camp experience and it did not disappoint. The farm is absolutely gorgeous. We thought we would spend time exploring the area and instead, explored the farm itself, visiting each campsite at unique, private and secluded locations. The vistas, the atmosphere and amenities where better than we could have asked for. Each site is extremely private. Each site also offers unique settings that range from classic wooded areas to rock quarry pools, or even a mountain view Vista. The host also runs a weekend farm stand where you can pick up jams, pickled goods and veggies. Not to mention spring water and ice made from the cold springs on the property. Most of the sites also include outhouses that are kept clean. There is firewood on site, and they even go as far as keeping emergency water in your camp for extinguishing the flames. There is an outdoor shower with hot water and flushable toilets near the main home on the property which was a dream come true after our day hikes. We also visited the local town which offered a brewery for dinner and great diners for breakfast. We only stayed for two nights, but we are already planning to come back, hopefully for a longer stay.

The Pines Site
This is a dream camp spot. The quarry is beautiful, all of the camp sites are very well maintained and feel private. There are charming surprises all over the site, like a random piano and old airplane. The quarry on-site is an awesome place to swim. The host is attentive and welcoming. I don’t have a single complaint and will definitely be returning.

The Pines Site
We loved our stay at Slateville Farm. We stayed at 'The Pines' which was very secluded and exactly what we were looking for. The drive up to the site was beautiful and we really enjoyed the various trails that have been thoughtfully carved out. Once we were at the site, we had everything we needed: a nice picnic table, very clean compost outhouse, and a great fire pit. We also spent a few hours sitting at the Red Slate Quarry which was an experience in itself! We can't wait to come back and check out some of the other sites.

Great retreat and gracious host
Heather is the BEST host. She is very friendly and was more than responsive to our needs, and we were very needy this trip. Her property is gorgeous and well cared for. The views from the fire tower are amazing and it's a great spot to sit and read. We loved it so much we never left the property. This is the perfect place to retreat!

Slateville Farm Retreat~Fire Tower
Ringing in the New Year in solitude
We thoroughly enjoyed ringing in the New Year at the firetower. What beautiful craftsmanship of the firetower and the outhouse was super cool too. Heather was a great host. She gave us info on directions to the firetower and to the farm. She checked in to make sure we were all set. The firetower was spotless as well as the outhouse. The solitude was just what we were looking for after the crazy holiday. Brizo, our dog could explore the fields (and found plenty of deer poop even though we didn’t see any deer). The weather wasn’t the best for sunrise or long distance views of the surrounding mountains. But the heavy fog and misty clouds gave this place a special feel to it. We felt so lucky to be able to stay at this hipcamp, hearing the story behind the area of Slatesville and how her husband and her have been working this farm is very interesting. We were able to explore the trails over by the main farm the day we left and checked out the quarry pond. Frozen, no polar plunge for us. :). But I can only imagine what it would be like in the summer. Heather listed this as a place to bring your van in the winter. And it worked out just great!

highly recommended
the property is a little tricky to get to, but once you do find the space, it's 100% worth it. you get unbroken views at the top of the tower, 1 floor below is a second platform with a table and chairs. the whole property was super clean: outside, inside, and even the out-house, everything was kept very clean. very quiet, large, and private space with great views. heather was very accomodating!

The Hops Site
Camping at the farm and the farm itself is a lovely experience. Heather was wonderful and we really enjoyed our time there. We were in Campsite 3 called the Hops which we could drive to without a high clearance vehicle. That could change if it was very wet. Heather will let you know. Lots of trails and places to walk and explore at the farm. Beautiful views. We can't wait to visit in the summer to try a swim. Highly recommended.
