After traveling and living around the world, raising my kids... you can return home. I craved the seasons and the woods and some quiet peaceful land. I feel in love with this property as it had the perfect spot in the middle of the ten acres for camp, not to far from the house and driveway so very easy assess. A short walk up a trail. It is private and has lots of wildlife. We have 2 cabins for rent on land as well. It is a short 12 miles to Ithaca for provisions and activities, or stay and play on the land, hike, swing, rest, read, write, meditate, dream. come in peace or come to rediscover your peace. I look forward to meeting you Learn more about this land: We have 10 forested hilly acres 12 miles from Ithaca. We’ve built a camp with a yurt with a foam floor that sleeps a family of 4. Bring sleeping bags and pads or you have an air mattress you can blow up inside the yurt that is fun. in the photo s you will also see a dry lean-to with a double bed platform inside to put your sleeping bags or air mattress or to put supplies off the ground to keep dry. Also lots of room for tents. The campfire has a grill to cook over a wood fire, 2 benches & Adirondack chairs, a hammock and a picnic table. There’s also a fun homemade swing & seesaw. There are many marked walking trails around our land to enjoy. There is access to well water. Dry cut Firewood is available for $7 a bundle at the property or you can add extras with booking for $7.70 per bundle.  Portable toilet outside & outdoor hot water shower. It is very quiet here. We are close to Treman, Buttermilk And Taughannock State Parks which all have swimming. Watkins Glen State Park and racetrack is half an hour away. 150 breathtakingly magnificent waterfalls in this area. Great hiking. We are 14 miles from Cornell University and 10 miles from Ithaca College. We are between two finger lakes, Cayuga and Seneca, there are 60 wineries and breweries around the lakes. Woman’s Rights National Museum in Seneca Falls, Corning Museum of Glass is fabulous. Ithaca has theatres, many museums & lots for kids to do. Or just hang out in our forest & enjoy our 10 private acres of trails. Bob is in the Ithaca Art Trail so check out his workshop if you are interested. (Price is for 2 adults.) We have 10 forested hilly acres 12 miles from Ithaca. We’ve built a camp 120 yards uphill with a dry yurt & a dry lean-to with a double bed platform inside. Lots of room for tents. The yurt has a wood platform. The campfire has a grill, a bench & a few Adirondack chair. There’s a hammock; picnic table. There’s a fun homemade swing & seesaw! We made many marked walking trails around our land to enjoy. There is access to drinkable well water. Wood can’t be bought into the forest because of invasive species so we offer dry cut bundled firewood $7 each on our porch. There is a clean port-a-potty, a sink; hot water private shower! There is a small frog pond on the property also. Come enjoy. It is very quiet. We are close to Treman, Buttermilk And Taughannock State Parks which all have swimming. Watkins Glen State Park and racetrack is half an hour away. Watkins Glen is breathtakingly magnificent as are the many waterfalls around the Ithaca area. Also great cross country skiing, walking, & hunting nearby at Connecticut Hill. Horseback riding near. We are 14 miles from Cornell University and 10 miles from Ithaca College. So many great restaurants in Ithaca. We are between two finger lakes, Cayuga and Seneca, there are 60 wineries and breweries around the lakes. Beautiful campsite. Cabin w/queen bed, counter w/kettle, teas, french press. Electricity/lights inside & out. A small portable heater & fan. We have a hot water on demand outdoor private big shower available only when night temps are not below freezing and a clean port-a-potty nearby. Drinkable water available. A picnic table, hammock, 2 chairs, fire pit w/grill next to a creek. Behind the cabin is a small frog pond. We have 10 acres of trails to enjoy. 12 miles to Ithaca, waterfalls, restaurants, breweries, wineries. Fishing, hiking, swimming and great eating amidst the fabulous Finger Lakes. We are between Cayuga Lake (Ithaca) & Seneca Lake (Watkins Glen-Racetrack & State Park). Close to Treman, Buttermilk; Taughannock State Parks as well. Rent a kayak or swim in the lakes. We can't have firewood come into forest because of invasive species so we offer dry seasoned chopped bundled wood available on our porch $7 each. Towels in bench storage. Bathroom are shared with two other sites & a short walk from cabin. Very chill quiet property.

Pamela was very sweet and welcoming. We booked the site with the Yurt and had the option to sleep in the Yurt, under the lean-to or pitch our tent on the ground in the area! Was a lovely stay and the hammock at the site is a nice touch for some morning reading :)

Pam and Bob’s property is beautiful. The yurt we stayed in was incredible, and the lean-to was very convenient. Also nice was the shower and porta-potty, all very clean and well-maintained. Lots of wonderful things to see and do in the area. We had a great stay!

I loved the land and camp site stay at Pamelas! It was super open and far enough away from the cabins to feel secluded while still being close enough to not worry about anything! Pam and Bob welcomed us after we arrived they were so friendly and welcoming and were available for anything we needed I highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our time stay at the sanctuary in the woods! The cabin was perfect well kept. We were looking for something peaceful and quiet and that's exactly what we got. Even though it was raining I have no complaints can't wait to come back!

My husband and I rented a cabin. We had an amazing time. Bobs wood work is unbelievable and Pam is so cool and sweet and welcoming. The property is beautiful. It was so quiet and peaceful. We also hit the local waterfalls which was awesome! We are so so Happy with the entire experience that we can't wait to come back again soon!!! Thank you Pam and Bob!!!

This was exactly what we were looking for!! Private and off grid. Me and my fiancé had the best time. We made this little sanctuary our own. The host Pam her husband were more than accommodating. We were invited into their home to see art work and actually talk to them. They were the best!! Definitely recommend to any couple or family for A frame!!

Nice and private tent camping site. In the wooded area. Rather hilly to get up to the site but well worth the trek. There is also a covered platform available to store your supplies which was particularly handy on a rainy weekend to keep our things dry.

Sanctuary, Indeed!
Cabin at Sanctuary in the Woods
The little cabin we stayed in was AMAZING! Pam and Bob took care of SO many details, and we really enjoyed everything about the property. We are the out-and-about type so we mostly spent just evenings on the grounds. Though we didn't get to check everything out, we were told about trails to hike on-site (there are 10 acres on the property), and tons of art around the place. I personally enjoyed digging the details of all of the construction of each cabin and the workshop. Wish I'd talked to Pam more than I did. She's a pure joy to talk to. We checked out Treman State Park and Taughannock Falls, though there's Buttermilk Falls just down the road, which we drove into and decided to skip. Pam will tell you that there are 110 waterfalls in the vicinity. Plus, Ithaca is a cool little town! Wish we could have stayed longer. On a scale of 1-10, we give the Sanctuary a 77. Don't skip this place!

Wonderful experience and hosts Pam and Bob were warm and welcoming. The site was far enough away to feel very private but not so far that it wasn't manageable for easy access. The location was great for day trips into Watkins Glen and Ithaca just short drives away. The outdoor shower was nicely done as well as many of the provided amenities at the site, my kids loved the homemade checkerboard. Would absolutely stay again and would be interested in the other offerings as well.

I absolutely loved it at Sanctuary in the Woods. It was beautiful and very well kept. Pamela is a wonderful host, she made sure everything was good and if we needed anything. She also helped me figure out my way around the area. I will definitely be returning!!!

A Wonderful Rainy Stay

We had a wonderful time staying here! My wife and I came to celebrate our wedding anniversary by hiking in Ithaca. We hiked the gorge trail and rim trail to see Lucifer Falls (which was beautiful), and it was a quick 15-20 minute drive from the property. The A-Frame + tent was awesome; the perfect amount of space for two people to sleep and maneuver around comfortably. There was a massive rain storm during our second night, and we stayed perfectly dry, as did all of our belongings. It was actually an incredibly peaceful night of sleep! Something else we really appreciated was that the location of the bathroom and parking is amazingly convenient. Our car was about 20 steps from the A-Frame, and the bathroom was about 20 steps beyond that. The outdoor shower with hot water on demand was really nice after a long day outside! On top of everything else, Pamela was very kind, and all directions were clear. We definitely hope to come back next time we visit Ithaca!

My friend and I loved staying at The Sanctuary in the Woods! The owners were very friendly and welcoming. Our tent site was amazing, very private and everything we needed. I couldn’t get over how beautiful this property is. Not far from the various state parks in the area. 10/10

I loved the A-frame over the tent, because it was spacious & we lounged in the front but were covered! Also my son & I enjoyed swinging in the hammock in our own private area.The sites were far enough apart,so there was privacy.Also the town of Newfield has a historic covered bridge which was cool!Up the road a few miles you can swim & hike in the state parks!Thanks Pamela and Bob for your hospitality!!We had a blast!

Charming and romantic A frame camp

This spot is sooo charming! Was perfect after visiting friends in Ithaca and then heading over to Watkins glen. The host was so kind and the camp was completely set up. We stayed in the A frame that came with a tent, brought our own sleeping mat blankets etc. Even had a grill and fire pit and was completely private but a perfect sized area. The hosts have wood you can buy and fire starters and coals for the grill. It was very romantic, at night there were soooo many fire flies. The outdoor shower was lovely, such a nice touch. Sooo hot too and felt great at night time. We took a walk around the property too and the other camp site seemed wonderful. Would definitely come back for a similar hiking trip, and again the hosts were so kind, helpful, and welcoming.

The “tabin” was thoughtfully designed and very comfortable to stay in. We made use of the fire pit and bbq for a delightful dinner and relaxing evening. Pamela has put a lot of effort into making this a desirable and charming place to rest.

My group and I had a wonderful time at Pamela’s! The spot is quiet and private. We honestly don’t have any complaints. It’s about a 30 min drive from Watkins Glen and 15 min from Ithaca— tons of amazing hikes! We will definitely be back :)

The camp site was unbelievably beautiful. We enjoyed the quiet and secluded nights surrounded by the golden-brown trees. The firepit, lean-to, table and chairs made our camping experience easier. Here is something I would like to share with the future visitor for their information. 1. You will park your car in the parking lot, not the campsite. You need to bring all your gear up to the campsite. It's about 3-4 mins walking distance and there is a noticeable incline. 2. There is no flush toilet. The description is confusing since it says "Toilet available: Flush toilet. There is a portable toilet by Bob’s workshop that you can use." It's a compost toilet, not flush. 2. There is no light in the toilet. I was holding the phone with my chin while I was doing my business. If you don't want to take a risk of dropping the phone, I'd like to recommend you bring a headlight. 3. There is one toilet and one shower. I didn't have a problem since it was almost the end of the season. It’s doubtful how it would be in peak season. You might compete for the toilet/shower with other campers. 4. The host told us that some of the campers pooped at the campsite. However, there is a coated instruction "how to poop at the campsite" in Lean-to. There is even a shovel which is for digging and covering the ground after your business. You'd better confirm with the host before doing so in the wild way.

Always a great time at Pamela's forest sanctuary! It's great to see the recent upgrades of a propane-heated outdoor shower and portable bathroom as well. Truly a gem of a setup with plenty of wild space to explore, privacy, and tender care of the area. Thank you, Pamela!

Beautiful property with a nice hiking trail and small pond. The site offered privacy but still close enough to the car for convenience. Outdoor heated shower is a very nice ammenity. Chatting with Pamela, you could tell she took great pride in the site and the property. Short drive to Ithaca and all the wineries around the lakes. Fanatstic getaway!

We very much enjoyed our stay on Bob and Pam’s land! Highly recommend checking out the trails on the property and visiting the pond! The outdoor heated shower was a huge amenity not usually experienced in outdoor camping and was much appreciated after a long day of hiking! Parking is at the end of the driveway, where there is also access to hose water, porta potty, shower and electricity. The campsite is up a short walk through the woods. Absolute quietness and privacy. There are two structures (leanto and teepee) to store gear, bags, etc. Beautiful, wooded, quiet property, with walking trails and a pond. Pam and Bob are such helpful and lovely hosts. Perfect stay!

We loved Pamela’s site! After a short walk, we got to the site and we were amazed by the site- so spacious and it has everything you need (table, chairs, kitchen stand, fireplace with a grill over, etc). The hot shower was perfect! I particularly liked the swing!! Wish we could stay longer🥲
