**Please confirm you have read our property description and rules before booking** Our slice of paradise consists of 225 acres of forested land nestled in the foothills of the Catskills near Albany. We are a homestead and small campground devoted to the principles of organic farming and self-reliance. Modern agriculture and big business are unsustainable, destroying farmland at an accelerating pace. It is important for us to teach the next generation, there is an alternative. We produce much of our own food. We have friendly goats, chickens, ducks, peacocks, donkeys and horses the guests can pet and feed. There are no swimming holes on our property, but many waterfalls and swimming spots within a short drive (see list below). A quick 5 minute drive will get you to one of the best disc golf courses in the north east. For the truly adventurous, Clarksville Cave is a short drive away. Visit their website for list of proper gear and rules. We do rent some of the equipment needed. Nearby Hiking Spots: Holt Preserve - 1.2 miles away Thatcher State Park- 9.4 miles Huyck Preserve- 11 miles Hannacroix Creek Preserrve- 8.4 miles Nearby Swimming Spots: Hannacroix Creek Preserve- 8.4 miles Kaaterskill Falls- 24 miles Thompsons Lake- 10 miles North-South Lake- 24 miles Parking: multiple car parking are available at each site.

Campsite 2 is up a level above the main road/entranceway. It is a private site inside a mixed hemlock forest. Don't have any gear? Site 4 Forget-Me-Not Spot

Tucked away in the back corner of the campground, you will be sure not to disturb other guests! It is massive and can accommodate large parties. This campsite offers the most privacy and seclusion. It is also furthest from the facilities. May require 4WD during inclement weather/mud season. For 2WD/low clearance vehicles, we recommend Campsites 1 and 3.

Our slice of paradise consists of 225 acres of forested land nestled in the foothills of the Catskills near Albany. We are a homestead and small community devoted to the principles of organic farming and self reliance. We grow much of our own food and forage many types of wild mushrooms. You will be sure to enjoy the spectacular mountain views, friendly farm animals, and secluded trails. The house is spacious and decorated with landscape oil paintings. Lovely spacious farmhouse overlooking a stunning view of the Helderberg escarpment. The home is wrapped in windows on every side which frame the seasonal changes of the land. This house has been renovated a number of times, however the structure of the original homestead cabin is still in tact. That cabin is now the master bedroom, where you can see the hand hewn beams harvested from this land in the early 1800’s. This rental consists of the two upper floors of a 3 level home. The basement studio apartment, Mountain View Suite, is another rental unit. The Purple Palace has 3 1/2 bedrooms. The 1/2 bedroom is a family room with 3 couches and a large tv. This room has a trundle bed that serves as a daybed and also opens up to two single beds. There is a full bath attached to the master bedroom and a half bath and single shower accompany the other bedrooms. There are 3 couches which can open up to beds as well. The house is located on a working organic farm, with many friendly animals. Enjoy the lovely trails through diverse landscapes within our forest. We have several other unique rentals on the property for larger groups. We also have recently opened an amphitheater for music events out back in the forest. Guests have access to entire 224-acre farm and can meet goats, chickens , ducks, peacocks, donkeys, a horse and our two very friendly dogs. Many miles of hiking trails to explore as well! If you are bringing a pet, please don’t leave hair behind! Keep pets off furniture and bedding. We do provide pet covers for furniture. The added work and laundry this creates is an additional $20 cleaning fee. You can bring your own if you prefer. The living room and kitchen are above another unit, so quiet time in this area is from 9pm until 9am. It is fine too use the kitchen outside these hours but socializing should be done in other areas of the house as to be considerate of guests below.

Our 225 acre farm is predominantly forested, with miles of hiking trails and incredible views. Nestled in the foothills of the Catskills near Albany, we are the last home on a dead end road and have multiple secluded rentals. We are a homestead devoted to the principles of organic farming and self reliance. We grow much of our own food and forge many types of wild mushrooms. You will be sure to enjoy friendly animals around the farm and a private fenced Koi pond. The apartment is a hand crafted work of art. From the granite floors to the elaborate wooden bed and hand sculpted kitchen, you will be sure to enjoy its unique nature. Luxurious sheets and a memory foam mattress will lull you to sleep! It is a basement apartment, but has an incredible view. Private basement and large fenced in area with waterfall and Koi pond. Also have access to entire 200 acre farm and can meet goats, chickens , ducks, peacocks, donkeys, a horse and friendly dogs. Many miles of hiking trails to explore as well! There is no longer a wood stove available due to chimney problems. The kitchen range is electric and works fine!

The place was cute and had lots of friendly farm animals (in fences, not free roaming). The site was OK. Pretty rustic but good enough. We didn’t speak to anyone the whole weekend. We saw a person on a 4x4 from a distance and assumed that they might have been one of the caretakers but they didn’t say hi or wave. All in all, nice enough!

Back here again after 2 years. Stayed at Site 1 and it was great! Awesome host, you can buy firewood near your campsite. And there is a quiet beautiful view to hang at as well. And just like last time, CLEANEST PORTA POTTIES EVER! Thank you!

So, the place is BEYOND beautiful I mean just breath taking so spacious and relaxing me and my friends had a beautiful relaxing time and really enjoyed our stay the only reason i would question staying again if i have to leave an honest review would be the fact that this property has tenants below its made clear with signs in the house not to be loud due to prior complaints and in the description when booking but when paying $400 a night and driving 2-3 hours depending where you are from for a get away then you want to enjoy your weekend and not have to tip toe around also this place is huge and can easily accommodate 10 people but i think max is 4 due to that reason possibly? Seems like a waste of such a beautiful huge space essentially. Otherwise i mean its very nice place clean and well kept.

This was such an incredibly cool spot, I wish we had been able to get to it sooner. Not having to check in made it perfect for our unpredictable schedule with our roadtrip. We arrived after dark and left before the sun had fully come up so we only got to know it in the glow of a campfire, but it was very clean and nice. Very quiet and felt like we could relax and let the dogs relax too. The site was very private with plenty of room for multiple tents.

Porta potties should be changed out with handicap style... Also a hose spigot over at the water refill station would be beneficial instead of struggling with the sink... Would also be a good idea to put a couple solar lanterns on the edge of the pathway and near the porta potties to allow better visibility at night time getting to the bathroom... Did not necessarily give a low rating on our camping book it was a seven out of 10 but because of us being experienced campers

I loved tent camping on Joan's land! Sites were quiet and private; owners were easily accessible and accommodating; and my daughter and I loved seeing the baby peacocks and all the animals. Many great hiking trails right there, and Thacher Park (Indian Ladder Trail) was a 13 minute drive away. Wi fi worked at our tent site. Note that there is only one water supply at the entrance and no electricity at the site.

My wife and I stayed with our 1-yr old for her first camping experience and are glad we picked this site. It had privacy, plenty of space for tent(s) & canopies, and felt like we were isolated in the woods. We didn't explore too much other than to go see the animals. I would definitely recommend this site and would suggest using an all-terrain vehicle as there is a little off-roading to this site. Thanks to the host for being prompt in messages as well!

secluded, you can hear light traffic from nearby local road but it’s nothing but crickets and owls overnight! Multiple tent site clearings at camp 1, it was very private. Definitely a 👍

We stayed at site 3 but on the one that is closer to the outhouse. Apparently they have one area for the site 3 that is further inside the woods also. It was very beautiful, felt very private and close to the outhouse. The outhouse was clean and well maintained. The outdoor shower was a very nice experience! We saw the hosts but barely exchanged words but that’s ok hahaha The shower had warm water! You can also wash your dishes in a sink there! The animals are cute!

Magical Forest Farm is amazing & I enjoyed my stay in the yurt. Directions were very clear & everything was easy to find. The site was private & the yurt was cozy. I will definitely be back & hope to spend more time on the land & explore the trails.

Site 3 - Magic Forest Farm Camp
Beautiful place and very fun for the kids and family. Site 3 was great with two actual sites to chose from. We stayed at the site closest to the cars but was plenty of room for 3 tents and 2 canopies. Great views from multiple spots on the property. Hosts were great and very responsive throughout the stay and would highly recommend. Plenty of trails to hike that are easy enough for small children. Kids loved checking out the animals and there are some gorgeous waterfalls and hikes in the surrounding areas as well. Will definitely be returning to check out other sites on the property.

I had a nice peaceful weekend at Site 4 . There were no people nearby so I cannot comment about the noise levels if there are occupied. The campsite 4 is great there is a small table and benches. There is a bbq grill if you need it. Lots of mosquitos and other insects so bug spray is a must.
