180 acres hosted by Peter C.
Firefly Farm, was the homestead section of the original Barnum farm, settled in the early 1800's by Luke and Lucy Barnum. The 180 acre property was originally part of a larger farmstead of woodlands that were cleared for dairy farming and hop growing. This was a frontier farm that was established after the massacre of nearby Cherry Valley, that occurred in 1778 during the war of independence. This resulted in the expulsion of the Iroquois from western New York, and subsequent settlement of the area by farmers.
