A+ Memories in the A-Frame

This was a very charming weekend so close to the lake! We had a lovely time and Bruce was so accommodating. They were incredibly welcoming, giving us a tour of the property which has many exciting amenities and projects including a kitchenette next to the restroom and a gift shop that his late sister invested her creative vision into. Our A-Frame stay was very nice and we loved falling asleep to the sounds of frogs by the pond. Bruce’s two sons were also around and helped set up a fire for us after we took his recommendations for local activities- a very sweet gesture to come back to. It was worth the trip from Pittsburgh and then some!

It was quiet and very nice. Only one other site occupied so had the place practically to our selves. Kitchen area is nice; we did not need it but is nicely setup. We came for the eclipse and skies cleared just in time!

Lovely glamping experience!

We had a great stay at the A-frame cabin! The land is really beautiful. We loved looking out over the pond from the porch in the evening and listening to all the nature sounds. The kitchen and bathroom facilities were way better than I expected. The kitchen has everything you’d need and more. Bruce was so thoughtful in making sure we had everything we’d need to be comfortable including offering us air mattresses and lanterns and showing us around so we know where everything is. Don’t expect the cabin to be fully furnished, but this is Hipcamp after all! This is a ‘glamping’ experience with a roof over your head and the luxury of having a kitchen, toilets, and showers available to you. I only wish we had more time to hang out and explore the trails around the land. The location is also great—quiet and secluded while still being a quick and easy drive to Westfield/Lake Erie. It was only us and another couple on the entire property even with the influx of eclipse visitors. Would absolutely recommend!

More Details Please

The host was very kind and communicative and the land is beautiful, but the stay here was rough. I feel the listing should have more details up front - specifically what the A-frame does and doesn’t have. There are no photos of the a frame building’s interior- it is just a roof over a wood floor and wind gets into it. No bed or electricity (fine, but I wish I would have known). Overall the property felt very occupied and not prepared for guests. I had to fish a sponge out of the dirty toilet out upon arrival in order to use it, the stove in the kitchen building wouldn’t light due to being filled with bugs and debris, dirty dishes in the sink, trash and personal stuff everywhere, et cetera. I felt the price was way too high for what you get staying here and wish I would have booked elsewhere.

Primitive private and peaceful

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at the Nature Lovers spot.. it was a short walk to the shared kitchen/bathroom cabin, but was still extremely private. The 3 nights we stayed, we didn’t see anyone unless we wanted too. Kim and her family were lovely to talk to in the morning over coffee on the deck of the shared space. The kitchen had everything you could need and the bathroom had a shower with nice hot water! The camping spot was very primitive. But that is what we enjoy.

This is a beautiful location, and the A-frame is super cute and cozy. The listing should be updated though, as the pop-out section no longer has any netting, so when it’s opened, it’s just open to the outside (which is cool, but bugs). The windows in the A-frame help some, but it really would get uncomfortable in there in hot, sunny weather. Also, the original bed was an extremely uncomfortable tiny cot. Kim very graciously provided us with air mattresses the next night after we complained, but it wasn’t quite the get-away we were hoping for. It is a beautiful place and Kim is a great host, we’d definitely stay again, but we’d be more prepared as we’re more informed.

Diamond in the Rough

This is a diamond in the rough with a lot of potential to be a really welcoming space. Lovely acreage with beautiful trees and paths through the woods and a funny little pond with kayaks to paddle around in. It was nice to have a kitchen to cook in and a little deck to eat outside and the fire pit looks real nice, though i didn’t get an opportunity to use it. They still have a lot of work to do to clean up the site and firm up all the paths and grade the campsites, but when they do it will be a real gem.

A night in the woods

Although I didn't get the chance to meet Kim due to time constraints, her property was excellent for what I needed: a place to set up my tent for one night to avoid an expensive hotel. Pros: fairly quiet area, easy to find off of main road, decently spacious site, campfire pit was in good shape. Cons: Occasional freight train passes by throughout the night, about a mile away but can be quite loud, didn't bother me once I had fallen asleep. The site was also on a slight incline, but I was able to place my tent perpendicular to the slope so it caused no issues.

It was spacious enough, with good, working amenities. We stayed for. Quick rest on a long drive. Site 3 is right near the main host cabin, fwi. Host was very friendly.

Great location and lots of fun. The deeper camp sites you need a smaller vehicle to reach or hike in with your gear but you will have privacy. Kitchen area and bathrooms were great and very clean. The owner is awesome and very helpful. The pond could use some work but the trampoline was awesome.

Enjoyed our stay

We really enjoyed our stay. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. We highly recommend the trails on the property. So many neat little things to see. The Gnome Roam really sold it for us.

Kim was a very good host and communicated well. She was waiting for us when we arrived and gave us a good lay of the land. The site was a little tight for my 28' camper but we managed to get it in after several times. With my truck hooked up I am pushing almost 40 feet in length. I would recommend maybe widening the site a little if possible although someone with a shorter travel trailer or RV shouldn't have any issues. It was a full hookup site which made it nice and the nearby bathroom and shower was clean and convenient.

Family atmosphere with friendly and helpful hosts. Choice of sites to pitch our tent and a kitchen and bathroom available. We chose to be beside the lake and listened to the bullfrog chorus.

Kim was very nice but it was impossible to get our 23ft RV into the site. We ended up staying elsewhere and asked if there was any way for a refund and we never heard back. I think it’s probably a great site for tent camping.
