Only 10 minutes from Cherry Plain State Park, Cherry Plain Sanctuary Farm/ Hearts in Hand Horsemanship LLC is a 150 acre hidden destination for outdoor adventurers, families and solo campers. We are a safe place for women who are traveling alone. We ensure everyone's quiet experience by not publishing our actual address. Please note: We ask for photo ID. Once we receive your photo ID via text we will provide exact directions to our property. Please plan to check in no later than 4:30pm as we are not available for later check ins unless we agree to meet you. It is dark at 5pm so early check in is critical. We host NYS Police along with local police/sheriff deputies here through our organization Hearts in Hand Horsemanship LLC. Don't be surprised if you see a NYS trooper or police unit parked up in the field near the horses. Fires: We allow small fires in specific spots, namely the fire ring at Camping on Blueberry Hill, at Ft Sky and inside the Tipi. Campsite fires are allowed weather permitting, when it's not windy and must be kept small. If it's windy then you can still have a fire in the tipi. No large fires or bonfires. All fires must be completely out unless you are physically with your fire. We supply 5 gallons of water and more is available to drink, wash dishes and put your fire out. Please respect our rules. Fire safety is necessary to keep everything safe here for all of us. Thank you for understanding. Here in the mountains we can experience very cold nights. We supply a small pile of firewood for a small fire at no charge. If you like, you can gather more dead wood (not live trees) in our forests. Winter is coming soon. Please bring lots of clothes and layers. Stay warm! Smoking: We are primarily a non-smoking/vaping farm and appreciate you smoking/vaping in your vehicle not on our premises please. Partying: Nope not us. Our farm is peaceful and quiet and so are our neighbors. Please party elsewhere and come here to relax in the blissful quiet of nature. Quiet music, just playing some Spotify tunes and acoustic musicians are welcome here. There's a great bar restaurant 5 minutes from us, "17 Cherry Plain Sq". Live music, great food and something like 40 beers on tap. Party there then chill out here with us. Breakfast and the best beef this side of the Mississippi can be found at Gardners Cafe and Icecream Shop only 5 miles up 22 South from our place. You can enjoy a big fat omelet with homefries and bacon then grab frozen hamburg and steaks from Gardner's own local beef grown wild and free outside. Cherry Plain Sanctuary Farm is adjacent to miles of public forest. Peace and solace can be found in these quiet mountains. In addition to amazing hiking, backpacking mountain biking, road biking right from your Hipcamp site, with kayaking nearby. We are 10 minutes away from Cherry Plain State Park (which has a gorgeous lake and kid-friendly sandy beach), and even closer to the Taconic Crest Trail. Our location is nestled between the Taconics of New York, the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the Berkshires of Massachusetts. Come share our paradise, bring your outdoor adventurer gear (you will be glad you did) and we will share our favorite local destinations with you. We ask that all hipcampers who are primary guests be 21 years of age or over. Children are welcome but we will not knowingly rent to anyone under 21 years of age. There is a $50 additional charge for garbage left at our farm including cigarette butts (we are a no smoking farm!), broken glass, bottles, cans, plastics, containers, bags and other trash. This is a pack in and pack out working farm not a party spot. Renting from us constitutes your reading of our rules attached to each property, your understanding and your agreement of our policies. Very private yet in a country neighborhood. This camp site is nestled on a knoll between the tipi and a private cabin, high up on a hill. There's a large firepit and stumps to sit on round the fire. Young red pines surround this spot on the southern side, with full sun exposure mid-day. You can car/truck/van camp and use your tent. Deep Forest Camping

Pin does not show actual location. You must call first for directions. We offer deep forest camping available via backpack on our mountainous property adjacent to NYS DEC. We have 3 miles of marked trails available that can be accessed on foot or by mountain bike. Electric bikes are allowed here providing they are mountain bikes that can handle this terrain. Clean water spring fed creeks, ledges, soft and hardwood trees make up this beautiful land. You will not encounter another human here. Recommend water filter, good backpack, solid boots, tent or hammock, tarp, topo map and Verizon cell service. OnX app is excellent. Speak to us before booking. We reserve the right to respectfully refuse if we feel it is necessary for safety. Fires only permitted with permission i.e. when it's safe. Pack in pack out including your personal hygiene. Think National Forest rules. We can hike you in and/or provide a short tour depending on availability.

The 22 foot Mountain Tipi is located up high on our hill with spectacular sunsets. Our 22 foot tipi includes a hot, wood burning fire pit, designed like a rocket stove for less smoke. The large metal fire pit has two removable grates for grilling meat and cooking with a frying pan or big pot. We may provide small stoves for cooking during spring/fall. For those who want to camp without the hassle of setting up a tent, the Mountain Tipi camping/farm experience is our best feature here. Sweet curious horses, friendly goats and a beautiful livestock guardian dog live within close viewing distance of this incredibly cozy spot. Relax outside on two Adirondack chairs and watch the animals at play. We added the inner liner to the tipi for cozy camping! Our 4-Dog wood stove will make your stay even cozier in winter! Late fall/early winter/spring in the mountains here can be chilly at night. We supply a good-sized pile of firewood for your evening fire at no charge. Heating your space with a smaller fire in the woodstove should last you all night. We offer an "Extra" 8 hour pile of firewood for an additional fee of $25. Please see "Extras" to order your firewood so we can have it ready for you at your arrival. These mountains can be up to 15 degrees colder than more populated areas. We supply 5 gallons of fresh water from our deep well for all your needs. For those of you who stay more than a few days, we are happy to provide more. Cherry Plain State Park is open during the summer and has showers with free swimming for walk in visitors. Park at the gate, and enjoy the park, only 15 minutes from our Mountain Tipi. Our 100 acres of privately owned hiking trails include direct access to NYS DEC land for an unlimited hiking experience. You can hike literally for miles right outside the tipi door. Jules and Jerome met us at the tipi with their dogs and we immediately knew it would be a wonderful stay. The tipi itself was beautiful, with plenty of firewood for the woodstove, and the surrounding farmland was stunning, along with the goats, horses, and dogs. The outhouse nearby was lovely as well. Beautiful fields and forest trails on their land too. Highly recommend staying there!

All Season Mountain Tipi

Julie and Jeromey were wonderful hosts. They explained everything we needed to know in the beginning. The tipi was cozy with the firepit inside to clear the bugs away. Many extra blankets to keep us warm as well! There is a hiking trail right behind the tipi, making a evening walk to watch the sunset an easy trip. The views of the hills and valleys were wonderful, along with the goats and horses.

The teepee was roomy, had 2 large fire pits, 5 gallons of water and plenty of firewood. Also, the animals on the farm were very sweet. I enjoyed the quietness of the location and the friendliness of the hosts. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get away for a night under the stars!

The property is beautiful with horses and goats and a beautiful dog to watch over the property.I wanted to try camping in a Tipi and the experience was better than expected.A large comfortable space with a fire pit inside kept my dog and I comfortable…Nature at its best.I would recommend and stay again!

We loved this spot, beautiful property and the tipi had everything we needed, cots, a lovely firepit stocked with firewood, lots of chairs for sitting around the fire and stargazing. There were goats and horses right next to the tipi and we went on a nice walk and saw the leaves changing. Highly recommend!

Julie’s campground was beautiful! She’s a fantastic host, I booked the Blackberry Hill spot and because we were getting rain and there wasn’t anyone booking the teepee spot she was gracious enough to let us hangout in there. There were also goats and horses if you love animals! She gave great recommendations of local restaurants and hiking spots as well. Perfect spot for a relaxing weekend getaway

Julie was very accommodating and responsive. She made sure we were set up at our site and gave us a quick tour of the rest. She gave recommendations for the area and local hikes/sights and was kind enough to provide firewood. The site was quiet and scenic and close enough to a local state park for swimming and hiking.

We loved the tent camping on Julie's land. It was so quiet and relaxing up there; they have a beautiful upper field you can walk around and get nice pictures of the sunrise and sunset. The site was easy to get to, and nice and flat for tenting. Jerome and Julie were great hosts as well, directions were clear, they always made sure we had water for cooking and cleaning. We would highly recommend this site for an upstate New York get away; it's close to hundreds of scenic waterfalls, hiking trails in the region and fairly close to a couple of caves a little west of Albany!

All Season Mountain Tipi

Absolutely loved it here. The host and her husband are very friendly not only with the adults, but with the kids as well. Such a pretty view watching the horses and goats. Not too buggy. Nice little outside potty. We loved being able to have a fire in the tipi and be able to cook too. Very convenient. Easy to find. Will definitely be back and I've already raved on social media. Thanks for everything! Until next time. :)
