Tucked away on Lower Road in Putnam Station, NY, this peaceful campsite offers the perfect balance of nature and convenience. Settle in beneath tall trees with plenty of space for tents, vans, or small campers, and explore winding woodland paths that lead to quiet clearings for stargazing or hammocks. A short walk brings you to the shores of Lake Champlain—perfect for swimming, paddling, or simply relaxing by the water’s edge. Evenings are best spent around the campfire, watching the stars fill the Adirondack sky. While the property feels private and secluded, you’re only minutes from town for supplies, dining, or a day trip to historic Ticonderoga. This spot is ideal for campers seeking a true North Country escape with the flexibility to dip into small-town charm whenever needed.Hill Top Campsite is a private 20x20 foot grassy clearing surrounded by woods, offering seclusion right in the center of our 3-acre wooded trail system. The site includes a bench and a solo stove, with firewood provided. It’s just a 2-minute walk to Lake Champlain, where campers can swim (water shoes recommended), fish with a license, or launch their own kayaks. Please note that the use of site-owner kayaks and motor boat is not permitted. From the dock, you’ll enjoy views of Fort Ticonderoga, the Vermont hills, and on clear days, the Green Mountains in the distance. Wildlife is abundant — deer, bald eagles, blue herons, and osprey are often spotted around the lake. Fall foliage is especially beautiful. At night, the open sky makes for excellent stargazing. Parking is available in the nearby field; from there it’s a short 2-minute walk to the campsite. Guests may explore our interconnected trails, which also have two exit points to Lower Road, a quiet public road. Campers should bring their own water and be prepared to pack out all waste.

Had a lovely stay for a few nights. Campsite was clean and located in close proximity to the lake and nature trails. Evan was super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Hill Top Camp + Lake Champlain

First and foremost the hosts are so friendly and accommodating! Evan shows you right to your site and clearly explains where everything is. the site is in between a semi busy road and semi busy train tracks so just be aware there are noises. The amtrack comes through twice a day. Also highly recommend bringing a wagon to transport your things if you are not packing super light. There is a fairly steep hill down and then back up to get from the parking area to the site Plenty of privacy in the trees and nice flat grassy spot to put our tent! Host provided firewood and a solo stove which was great. The lake was a short couple min walk from the campsite, it was shallow which was nice to wade in and there is also a dock to sit out and relax on. Definitely bring water shoes as it’s a bit slippery. We didn’t mind, our dog loved swimming all day!

There were a bunch of great trails cut around the property to walk on. You can walk to the lake too! I watched the fireflies for hours!

Hill Top Camp + Lake Champlain

This was a perfect site for staying in Ticonderoga . We were close to town by car and could walk down the path to a private access point on lake Champlain. There were no restrooms or water, which we were aware of by the description and didn’t mind at all, but I recommend booking anyway if this is an issue for you as you can just drive to town to Stewart’s or Maplefield’s and get anything you need there. We saw lots of wildlife, including several deer, ruffled grouse, and heard a bobcat and loons. The host was kind, friendly, and hospitable! He met us at the site and made sure we found the parking area alright. Definitely went the extra mile. I recommend staying here . A tent and rainfly is provided or you can bring your own.
