Cayuta Sun is a small, permaculture-inspired farm. On pasture and under the canopy of trees, we raised heritage breed hogs (American Berkshire.) We currently offer our artisanal pork at farmers markets and at the farm by appointment. This farm is the home of Michael Burns & Kelly Dietz who seek to build a local, regenerative economy that builds community and supports food sovereignty. Each year we commit to struggle and innovation to produce food that is healthy for our environment and ourselves. Cayuta Sun Farm has also supported sustainable farming education by hosting workshops and events, especially with the Finger Lakes Permaculture Institute.

Cool & Shady Pine Woods @Farmstead

99%
(51)
Tent site · Sleeps 4
Behind our farmhouse are cool pine woods with a soft pine needle floor. [youtu.be/jFSVHplniJ0] This deeply shaded area is used for camping by our students, apprentices, family and friends. We invite you to set up camp among us.  There are many sites for tents but we only accept two HipCamp reservations (of one or two guests) per night at this location.  Look for our additional listing ("Secluded Site on Permaculture Farm") for our other campsite that can accommodate larger groups. Cayuta Sun Farm produces gourmet quality pork and poultry through heritage breed hogs and birds integrated into a forest farm system. We invite you to camp in our woods and be a guest on our farm. We love hosting visitors and showing how we raise healthy, delicious food. Near the farmhouse are a friendly dog and cat, roaming chickens, a hot outdoor shower, fresh water, and a composting toilet. Within twenty miles of Cayuta Sun Farm are wineries, hiking trails, the cities of Ithaca and Watkins Glen, plus all the attractions found in the Finger Lakes Region of New York. We are 12 miles from the Grassroots Festival of Music, 14 miles from Watkins Glen Speedway, and 17 (paved) miles from Ithaca. Within just a few miles is the Finger Lakes Trail, Connecticut Hill Wildlife Area and Cayuta Lake. Walk down our dead end dirt road and you will find a footbridge overlooking the glorious Cayuta Inlet Swamp. Learn more about the farm at our website: CayutaSun.Farm.

Tent site · Sleeps 10
This hilltop camping area is hidden in the backwoods along the edge of wetlands, forests, and fields attracting abundant wildlife. A five to 10 minute walk along a woodland path leads to the area with space for three tents and up to ten people. Each tent site is in its own private location. When you reserve this area all three secluded tent sites are included.  Cayuta Sun Farm produces gourmet quality pork and poultry through heritage breed hogs and birds integrated into a forest farm system. We invite you to camp in our woods and be a guest on our farm. We love hosting visitors and showing how we raise healthy, delicious food. Look for our additional listing ("Shady & Cool Pine Woods") for our other campsite that can accomodate two guests and one tent. That site is behind our farmhouse in the cool pine woods with a soft pine needle floor. Rustic Truck or Tent site

83%
(3)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 6 · Vehicles under 20 ft
This is a completely rustic site where campers can drive in a properly equipped vehicle. It is located on the corner of our property furthest from the house as well as the hot shower, toilets, drinking water, etc. Access to the site is along a tractor path and it would not be advised to pull most automobiles with standard clearance through. There is limited parking just off the road. While our other sites offer a bit more seclusion and natural beauty, this site is probably most convenient for travelers who need a quiet place to pull in and camp for the night and will still have access to the toilets and water just a five to ten minute walk away.
