Blackfly Cabin
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wonderful Family Cabin Getaway!
We had a great experience staying at this cozy cabin with our kids. The place was clean, comfortable, and surrounded by beautiful nature. We had so much fun together — hiking, playing games, and relaxing by the fire. It was the perfect spot for a peaceful family escape. We’d definitely come back again

Excellent stay! Beautiful spot, nice and quiet. We spent a decent amount of time just reading books with the windows open. Close to everything. Fire pit was nice, also had a charcoal grill you could use. Would love to stay again, highly recommend!

Sweet little Adirondack-style cabin. Spacious with separate kitchen area, bathroom, porch, fire pit. Etc. Very good communicate from Mike. A nice clean place. 30 min to Mt Marcy for our hike. Recommend!

Lovely clean and comfortable cabin, 15 min from Saranac Lake and 30 min from Lake Placid. Gracious and communicative hosts. This is the second year in a row that we have stayed here and hope to return again next year.
One note: The fridge is a large dorm-size fridge w/a tiny freezer section, so if you have ice packs you want to refreeze or keep frozen, you might want to grab a bag of ice to put in a cooler when you are near the cab

The cabin was a nice experience, roomy, and had everything needed. The screened in porch was great, gave us some shelter from the critters and the firepit helped as well! Kitchen area is very usable, one hotplate was handy but if you plan to do significant cooking bring a stove. Fit 4 people between the full bed, the futon, and the included cot. Firewood and eggs were a nice touch!

We had a good time. The site was clean. The fire ring was gorgeous. The stones on the ground made it better for keeping mosquitos away. The firewood was plentiful.
We were under the impression we had access to 3 acres, especially based on the writeup and picture. The area we had was about 30' x 36'. We were about 20' off the road. Some vehicles were driving very fast. The owner's RV was parked on the same site as us, so we had no privacy. There were what looked like family members staying in it. We felt like they could hear our conversations and could look out the window and watch us.
This site would work well for a group reserving the 2 sites and cabin. No need to worry about privacy then.

We had a wonderful time at Blackfly Camp. My family rented both the RV site & cabin. The RV site was level & clean, with easy access to electricity. The cabin was adorable & better than expected. The outdoor shower was a welcome respite from the heat. The cabin had all amenities needed. The huge fire pit out back was a plus, more than enough room for the 7 of us. Mary brought us fresh eggs & left homemade insect repellant (we bought more for home). Mike was a friendly & helpful host. All in all a great visit. We will definitely be back next year!

We loved staying at Blackfly Camp!! We had 7 people (ages 16 to 55) & booked both the RV site & cabin. Mike was super helpful & kind, working with our schedule & helping us get our class C in place.
The RV site was level bluestone, super clean & easy to access electric. Water was available to fill our camper by running a hose from the cabin spigot. The area was very quiet. The yard was nice & view of the woods was pretty. Add the gorgeous sunset & we were set!!
The cabin was adorable, super clean & the perfect size for 4. My one son setup the cot in the back screen room & slept like a baby (he's 25 🤣). The kitchen had all.the necessities. The potty worked fine. The fans were well appreciated, as it was humid & 90s during the day. The outdoor shower was a hit with everyone. Water was as hot as needed for each of us & extra refreshing after the humid days (or a nice wakeup).
The yard behind the cabin was perfect for our meals & hanging out. The large fire ring had more than enough room for all of us (enjoyed your Adirondack chairs). The wood available was nice & dry for the perfect campfire.
All in all, this was the perfect home base for use during our Adirondack vacation. The fresh eggs were delicious (thank you Mary) & our dozen was gone in a day!!! The homemade bug repellent balm worked quite well (especially in the evenings). We purchased more to take home.
Mike, Mary, thank you for sharing your yard & conversation. We will definitely be back!!

Great communication from host. Clean and comfortable. Was close to Saranac and 1/2 drive to Lake Placid. We stayed all day at those places and then came back to this cozy, quiet clean place to sleep. Some people might be scared off by compostable toilet, but it was easy and hygienic to use. We hope to return to Black Fly Cabin next year.

Really good location. We had an issue with our rv and there is a great little rv sales/service business just a mile away so that really helped out. Michael was very helpful and his place had all that we needed.

Great place to bring your trailer and spend a few nights. Water available and electric provided. Quiet spot with a beautiful sunset view and perfect for stargazing. Close to a nice town with a fun local brewery. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Great location to base your ADK adventures from!

Michael's camping spot was pristine. He has it set up well with fire pit, and electricity. Even had a great spot for our screen tent. He greeted us on arrival and he explained everything we needed for a great stay. We told him about our plans for visiting the area and he was very helpful with information. I was impressed with the volume of firewood for the money.

Michael was very understanding and sweet. I got the dates wrong and he graciously accommodated me anyway. The site is almost level on a nice solid rock foundation. I hooked up to 30 amp that was right there. Nice fire pit.

Michael was an awesome host! He was friendly and willing to answer questions. His property is beautiful and easy to get to. Blackfly Cabin felt like a home-away-from-home! It had everything you could think of. It was very comfortable, cozy, and clean. I will definitely be rebooking in the future!

We had a great time on Michael’s land! It’s the perfect spot to discover the Lake Placid/Saranac Lake Region in the Adirondacks. The campsite has electricity, a fire ring, picnic table and you can fill up with water. So everything you need for some a relaxed stay. We worked definitely camp there again!

My stay at Blackfly Cabin was an amazing experience! Mike was a wonderful host and the cabin was a perfect retreat, exactly what I was looking for. I came to the area to Mt. Bike and spent three nights at Blackfly. Mike built the cabin himself and created a lovely spot that’s an easy drive to Wilmington, Saranac Lake, and Lake Placid. It was my first time in the area and as a rider himself, Mike’s local knowledge of the area was an added bonus! When I returned from my first day of amazing, muddy riding, Mike had set up his bike stand and left me a roll of shop towels and a wire brush so I could clean up and lube the drive train for the next day. That’s just the kind of guy he is! Private but with all the comforts of home! I would recommend a stay at Blackfly in a heartbeat!
