This camping trip was an amazing experience, the site was great and all but the cherry on top were the friends we made their. They were so nice they gave us all alcohol, fire wood, and even offered to take us to the cemetery at night, 10/10 recommendation and yk they jack harding pl around there

this campsite felt like a hidden oasis in their backyard! there was enough privacy where we felt like we were alone and the sound of the stream at night put us right to sleep.

It was a pretty cute little spot, the creek was probably the best part, we loved sitting beside it. The little shelter made the rain even better, we stayed inside the tent and listened to the rain while My husband played guitar

Overall it was a good experience despite our weather. The host was helpful with suggestions on local information for needs. The camp site itself was well kept, well designed and cool. My only complaint is the area adjacent to the campsite that held junk vehicles, boats, and items. It was a visual eye sore that took away from the overall feel.

The photos are accurate, but there's no lake on the property, it's someones back yard. It's not a farm, or very in-nature, there is visible scrap metal to the left and right of the site. It was a nice experience, but I felt a little mislead from the photos.
I also could not get a response from the site owner via messages.

It was difficult finding a trail to the site especially when it's darker. No signs. Once we did find the site it's nothing like the pictures indicated. I suppose we're the first to camp for the year. A lot has changed since people came here last. The area is sunken, muddy, run down, weather worn and trees fell over a lot of structures you'd see on the pictures. The fire pit was good but no picnic table and there's a little brook nearby. Which was nice. We were able to make the best w what we had. Tent platform had a tree collapsed on it and there was abandoned yacht as well. Overall not how we envisioned but we made due w what we had for the price. We put out tents together until a scaffold platform cuz it was the most even part aside from all the mud. I do think if there was some updates on the site area and how it would look like before deciding to book be helpful. The area is very backyard camping and neighbors properties are not clean but otherwise as long as you do the best u can it can work but until the place gets fully renovated again. I'd thread carefully.

Perfect for what we were looking for! Close to NYC, extremely close to Harriman State Park (the reason for our visit), and plenty of space to set up camp. Highlight of the site is the firepit/seating area, which is quite good.
Chester was thoughtful and communicative as a host, staying responsive and available for questions. Check-in/out was very easy.
Recommend bug spray because of a small creek running behind the site!

Bare Camping was a great little campsite. Plenty of space and a lovely fire pit. The bathroom and outdoor shower were also nice to have. We didn't bother turning on the propane water heater for the shower, though it is an option.
The campsite isn't particularly private. Once you are there, you can still hear lots of activity around as it's very near other houses.

We loved our stay! It was a perfect little set up, with the fire pit, picnic table, and areas for tents. Although it is in someone’s backyard like the other reviews say, it is far enough back and secluded so it doesn’t feel awkward at all. It was also close to all the things to do in the area, especially Harriman State Park. We would definitely come back!

Chester was thorough with directions, and straightforward as to what the site offered. Water for the shower was turned off due to weather, but it wasn't a deal breaker. I'd imagine it is nice with the shower during the summer, and in cold months would be great to have hot water incase. The site was not at all what we expected, and at first we were a little confused as it was nestled in between homes, yards with retired boats and cars, and a surprising amount of garbage along with main road. HOWEVER, Chester's property was kept very clean. The firepit was perfect, as was the seating. The camping platforms were sturdy, well maintained and kept us dry which was great. The oversized picnic table was comical for just the two of us, but great for a big gathering I'd say. Also, there is a little creek on the back end of the property that provided some lovely water sounds at night, and a nice little walk during the day. There are public trails across the street for a walk, and the town is close by. 15 minutes to our Bear Mountain hike the next morning, and we were grateful for that. Overall I definitely recommend, as long as camping in a backyard is what you are looking for!

First 10 min in saw a 200 lbs black bear. It was an awesome site to see but if you would not be comfortable with that I would not go here. The bear did I like the huge fire pit! TONS of wild life. Raccoons walking right passed us and blue jays. One person did say lots of broken glass and barking dogs from the neighbors which is very present. But I loved being able to see a bear so close and the size of the site. Shower did not get warm though. Gas was out.

Relatively private, minimalist camping site near Harriman State Park. Situated in the woods behind an exurban neighborhood, there is a nice tent platform and fire pit. Pit toilet and water spigot available.

The camp site was nice! It had everything they included. The host were very kind! They answered every question specifically! It was very private and clean :)). All the attractions around the campsite are easily accessible! I would definitely reccomend this place!

Great little campground with all the amenities! There was a firepit, picnic table, a portable grill for cooking, two different platforms to choose from to pitch a tent, outhouse and hot shower. Great shade cover from trees, though there are a lot of bugs so bring bug spray! Great location - we spent one day at Lake Welch beach and the other day hiking around Harriman State Park.

We had a great time. The place is great, with a groomed path from parking area to campsite. The firepit is wonderful and there are grates you can use to cook on. You can choose from 1 of 2 platforms to pitch the tent for a level night of sleep and a brand new high top picnic table is there. Owner was very responsive. Highly recommended.
