Site 1 - Bally Loch

No showers

In amenities the host says there are showers with hot water. Even when my reservation was confirmed I got a blip from hipcamp telling me what to expect and it said there are showers. As campers, we sometimes don't need a shower, yet this time it was the sole deciding factor for us because we drove 7 hours for a funeral and had an additional the next morning. We were very low on money and had just enough to drive for our funeral and get this site. We thought to book because we were exhausted needed rest and a shower. After booking I sent a message to the host saying we were glad and excited to rest and shower. He said he had no showers, this is after I booked and saw there were showers twice. He said we could buy a pool pass, but I called, that would be 50 dollars to shower, which we didn't have and shouldn't have to do if it says that it is included in our stay on the profile. Because of the funeral we needed to shower so no longer was the rental useful. We ended up losing 47 dollars, still had no shower. It induced stress on us. I felt since it was listed that there were showers some type of offer would have been nice, a refund, kind words, something. The host stopped replying to us and didn't offer anything or seem to care about our situation. Wouldn't recommend. If you don't need a shower great, but he wasn't very helpful or understanding.

Bally Loch

A Loch in Paradise.

Beautiful property and lovely welcome. Saw 40 different birds, and recorded another half dozen that eluded sight. This is a nature lovers paradise. Well marked hiking trails around the loch. Peaceful night and woke to fog lifting off the water like something out of a dream. I cannot wait go back and spend several nights.

Easy access from I86

Lance’s property is lovely. Peaceful, overlooking a small pond, with trails to hike/camp around the pond. Behind a barn with covered porch and picnic table in case of rain. Super easy access from 86 on my thru trip from Chicago to NY. The downside of that access is the road noise, particularly at night. Also note that heavier vehicles will need to be on or near the driveway, as the ground is soft! Lance was great, responsive and his brother-in-law met me as I pulled in and answered all my questions. Recommend.

The land is beautiful. Very quiet with excellent stargazing. Lance and his brother in law Barry were very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend this site!
