Absolutely amazing!
We absolutely loved camping at Toombooloomoobah! The property itself was gorgeous with a freshwater creek perfect for swimming and floating on inflatables and a big open camp space with a fire pit and shelter surrounded by gum trees. Also near the coast which made for a few beach trips. Great spot for a big group of mates, will definitely be coming back one day!

Great spot but not 2wd friendly
Absolutely beautiful place! Definitely not 2wd friendly when thé conditions are wet and raining like it was for our weekend. But we parked the 2wds at the petrol station just before the turn off to the old princess highway because there were security cameras there for the cars overnight.
Outdoor space is huge, much bigger than it looks in the photos. Drop toilets were a plus too! Highly recommend buying a lot of
Firewood too it was very convenient.

Comfy camp space
Very comfortable, flat grass area for tents. Walk to the river's edge is not too long. The undercover camp kitchen with the tables, benches and cooking fireplace is very handy. Saw a wombat!

Will go back!
Big flattish area of grass to camp on. Large shelter with fire pit and plenty of wood. Water tanks. Toilets.
Plenty of big native trees around the edges. River along western edge. Views across paddocks to the east. Assorted bird life, with occasional kangaroos and wallabies.
Remote and rustic enough to feel it’s adventurous, and serviced enough to focus on having fun.
All in all the place we dream that we will live there one day.
The access roads were challenging in places and it would be helpful if the front gate to the property was clearly and colourfully marked.

A beautiful and spacious campsite with a large cooking shelter for all weather conditions. I loved the grand gum trees everywhere, the open and lush camp area, the country vista, proximity to the river, and no shortage of wood to collect close by. I will most certainly be back in the future to enjoy this spot with more friends.

Awesome but difficult road in
Beautiful site, great facilities- very swimmable river with access, shelter over the paved common space and fire pit set-up, pit toilets, and shade, but all-wheel or 4WD only at the moment because of the recent rains. I needed to leave my 2WD at the bottom of the hill and muck around getting in. If you're 4WD go for it!

Undercover area and fire pit were amazing. The shed area was well thought out and made for camping in the rain to be very enjoyable. Easy walk to the river. Whole site is really well thought out.

River, campfire and wombats
Toombooloombah is very private, quiet and peaceful camping site. We camped over a long weekend and really loved the site. The river is beautiful.... cool cool water and fast flowing so make sure you plan your swim. Floating from a little further upstream to access point near camping is possible and floatation devices a must. There are a couple of inflatable floats in the open shed. This big undercover camp kitchen area was such a bonus as it rained on and off over the weekend. But being able to cook and have a fire undercover made it all really enjoyable. The road to the site is not too bad but take extra care driving in with cars that are low to the ground. Spied the local wombats at night and wonderful birdsong over the weekend. Would love to visit again and highly recommend.

We had an excellent long weekend at Matthew’s property. The campsite is super private and well maintained with tonnes of space right by the river. Matt gave us space but was very helpful and attentive when we had questions. We’d love to come back.
However, future guests should be aware that calling the site 2WD accessible is generous. The instructions directed us up a 8km rough dirt road full of uneven terrain only to arrive at the driveway with one of our cars (a station wagon commodore) unable to even make it into the actual property leading to a very disappointed 2 hour drive back home. Our 2WD SUV with reasonable clearance made it down with no troubles. The scenic route from Milton was a MUCH smoother ride on the way home.

Idyllic camping on the Clyde.
This is a great place to relax and get a real sense of being away from it all. This size of the site is impressive with plenty of trees to find shade during the hottest part of the day. The large shelter was also a good place to escape the sun. We couldn't fault the set up. Access to the magnificent Clyde River was easy though slippery in some places. Having toilets and tank water just added to the value. An ideal place to spend quality time with family and friends.

Secluded and Special!
We had such a lovely time camping here. There was so much space to play cricket and other games. The river, big shelter and stars were great highlights. Road was a little bumpy for some of our 2WD but it wasn’t rainy so we made it okay! Would definitely come again and recommend!

“Best Camping Ever"
What a magical location. Thanks Matt and family for a week away in paradise. The campsite is a large grassy area with 360-degree farmland and bush views, the big shed was perfect to keep us out of the sun and rain. The river was flowing very fast and went up over 3 meters while we were staying but the campsite is well away from the river and the changing riverbank gave us a new safe swimming pool to enjoy each day.
Matt and family were extremely helpful whenever contacted and even came down to help when we departed to ensure our 2WD cars could get out, they all did without help but it was nice to know they were there to help. Our group of 9 love the experience and cant wait to return.
Again Thanks Matt and family.

Matt's place gave is the perfect solitude we were looking for. Getting there with a 2wd was a bit tricky with the mud on Middle ridge rd but the road going from Milton via Brooman was much better. Once we got there, our stay was awesome. We spent most of the day lazily floating on the river (tip:bring some floaties, enter the river through the north side of the property, float the river all the way to the south access, repeat). The covered table and the firepit were also great at protecting us and our stuff from the sun and the rain.

This is an excellent site for a large group. The camp kitchen means everyone can hang out whether it is raining or hot.
There is no letter box, street number or sign on the gate, you have to look for the shed, shipping container and yards.
While it is on a lovely stretch of the Clyde river, you can't actually see the river from the campsite. It was flowing extra while we were there which meant it wasn't very suitable for water craft for children or beginner kayakers. I expect it would be a delight to white water kayakers, and maybe the current is less strong at other times.
Great birding spot. Not a long drive to some nice beaches.

We had a great stay at Toombooloo, unfortunately due to the rain we wern't able to cross the bridge to the main campsite but Matt was happy for us to stay in the upper paddock which was just as nice.
Matt greeted us at the gate and was a pleasure to deal with.
Would highly recommend staying here and would not hesitate to go back.
Cheers Matt

Great spot for some country camping
Beautiful property with a really great covered area if the weather turns foul. Camping spot is very flat, serviceable pit toilets and fantastic to have two big rainwater tanks so you don't need to bring your own water.
It was pretty cool overnight (late April) and the river was cold af. A lot of fun for a quick dip. Note that the river is about 100m walk from the campsite, down the track. Good place to forage for firewood.
We had 10 dads and 15 kids, plenty of room for everyone.
Bawley point beach is about 30 mins away as is Pigeonhouse mountain if you want to go bushwalking. Matt is a great host too. Highly recommend

Lazy days by the river
Great spot. We were are a group of 20 from Sydney and everyone had a great time. Would like to have stayed longer. The river was beautiful and crystal clear, although a little chilly (we went mid April). The kids still had fun skipping stones and exploring along the banks. The shelter is a great size and really well kitted out with a large bricked/stone fire pit with a rail and steel cooking plate and also a long table. You just have to make sure you can cope cooking on fire as there is no backup. You will need to organise plenty of wood (through Mathew) or bring your own gas barbecue. Our group were all keen to go again when it's a bit warmer to get the best out of the river.
