You will come here to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of `Black Mountain'.
`Black Mountain’ is on Gumbainggir country. It is a registered conservation property bordering Nymboida River and Nymboi-Binderay National Park. Alastair and I have shared the property for more than 25 years and consider ourselves custodians of this precious place.
Visitors enjoy: the pristine river; walking tracks through diverse terrain; starry night skies and campfires. Previous guests recommend staying at least two nights to soak up the atmosphere and explore the area.
Choose from the 'Ant Shack' or four adjacent campsites with easy access and views to the Nymboida River. Shared facilities include a hot shower and composting toilets.
You can walk, swim and kayak, explore the area or just relax for days. We can’t accommodate domestic animals or allow fishing, not even catch and release because we protect our wildlife and the endangered Eastern Cod.
Black Mountain is remote but just 60 kilometres from Grafton or Coffs (via back way). 2WD access to our house is from Nymboida only. 4WD/AWD from Lowanna or Glenreagh and 4WD/AWD down to the river/campsite area - Not suitable for caravans.
All proceeds from Airbnb and Hipcamp are invested in the continuing conservation of Black Mountain.

Black Mountain 4WD- Drongo Dell
The real Nymboida
I loved my time camping on Nymboida’s black mountain, Merryl & Alastair,s land is a beautiful example of what the area has to offer, with one of the loveliest parts of the river to explore surrounded by some enchanting mountains trails.
Their hospitality was second to none, I can’t wait to bring my family back for another stay.

Black Mountain 4WD - Platypus Leap
River Camping.
What an amazing piece of paradise, Merryl and Alistair love their land and it shows. The sites were large and all had a magical view of the Nymbodia River. Amenities were great with composting toilets and a hot shower. We went canoeing and swimming most days and the conservation status on the property made for wild bush walks with lots of animal life. The very steep drive to the sites was a little hairy for an inexperienced 4WDer like myself but once set up, you don't want to leave. We can't wait to get back there.

Black Mountain 4WD- Drongo Dell
Drongo Dell camping
Excellent directions to the camp. We stayed at Drongo's Dell. What a peaceful spot looking out over the river. The camp site was grassed and had a tap - and there was a hot shower at a nicely appointed amenities block a little up the hill. The river level was low but it was still possible to do some kayaking on the beautiful Nymboida. Alister and Meryl were kindly, helpful and happy to answer questions about their lovely property.

Black Mountain 4WD- Drongo Dell
Black Mountain camping is great for an off-grid nature experience with the luxury of sparkling amenities. We loved that the Drongo Dell site was so close to the river with easy access to toilet. The walking trails through rain forest are a highlight, as is the abundance of wildlife. Merryl and Alistair are welcoming and very helpful. They take great care of the flora & fauna, and us humans too.
