Burroman Flat is roughly 50 acres with 1km of Clyde River frontage. The river is permanent fresh water and has two small waterholes at the upstream end and a much larger water hole on the downstream end. In between are shallow rapid sections, small pools and endless exploring. The banks range from moss covered rocks and grassy sections to shady water gum forest, casuarina trees, river peppermint and blue gum trees. Campsites are spread along a grassy strip that runs approximately 700 meters along the edge of the flat with tracks that go down to the river. The campsites are grass covered in a strip of open forest with native shrubs that add privacy. There is lots of space and shade. To the eastern side of the camp is the open flat and Boulder Mtn. Burroman Creek forms the boundary on the northern side and meets the river at the upstream water holes. The River Road runs north south on the eastern side of the flat. The flat itself is ancient, and very high. The last time it flooded over was in the 70's. The flood in February 2020, just after the fires was 17m and didn't cover the whole flat - the area where the camp sites are did not go under water. The tracks down to the river from the camp area are steep - particularly at the southern end. The least steep are at Site 1 and another near where the toilets and water cell are. This is a very beautiful section of the Clyde River. Kids 16 yrs and under stay for free! The flat and camp sites are 2WD accessible. There is Telstra reception (usually a bar or few) on the flat. For Optus and Vodafone it's less reliable - you may get signal - but if not, on the rise at the road just up from the gate is mostly pretty good. Alternatively about 1.5km from the gate going towards the old town is a high point on The River Road that looks south west. This is one of the better spots without climbing a mountain..

Site 3 - Burroman Flat Private Campsites

Very private

We were lucky enough to have got the whole place by ourselves and was the given the choice of picking which site to stay on. We chose 1B since it is right across the pathway going to the river. Kids had fun playing in the grass and in the tree covered area going to the river. We went berry picking on the nearby farm and had a taste or 2 of their berry flavoured ice cream. It was yum! For people with smaller kids, they may also want to go take a dip in shallow crossing creek. Would love to go back someday when we have more time on hand.

Pristine camping haven!

Had the most amazing family camping holiday at Burroman Flat. Sites are brilliantly thought out, nice and large with plenty of privacy. Over the 12 nights we camped here, barely saw anyone and was so peaceful, perfect way to recharge and create lasting memories with the kids! This was the 3rd time we have stayed at Burroman Flat and was easily the most memorable, especially with the 3 days we had the entire place to ourselves! The provision of firewood was a welcome addition as was great to be able to split my own wood for a modest fee and save my chainsaw in the process. Although we had no luck catching any bass, the river was perfect for swimming and floating down on our tubes, kids even did a bit of snorkelling and got some great footage with the drone which was awesome! We go camping annually over New Years break and this is definitely our new favourite spot to go off grid and reconnect as a family! Thanks Matt for creating and sharing such an amazing space!

Our stay was excellent! We loved site 5, it was massive and very private, the river access behind our site to the laft was best however a little overgrown (most were so someone may just need to get in there with a whipper sniper, nothing major 👌) The communication from the host beforehand was phenomenal. I highly recommend

Site 1A

The most Beautiful stay. It had clean drinking water, clean toilets, the most amazing view of the field, saw the most amazing sunset and the river is so refreshing to swim in, and we had a cozy camp fire at night - I would highly recommend.

Magical

This place very special. Can’t wait to come back. We had a few nights with only the sounds of the birds and a few nights with campers playing loud music, I wish all campers were the same wanting to enjoy nature and get away from the noise pollution, not so , the beauty of this place in the morning instantly re sets you. Matt provides a wonderful hip camp experience.

Great family getaway

We got exactly what was advertised. Which was perfect. Matt and Michelle came by for a welcome chat and were helpful and very nice. Kids loved exploring and the sites were nicely separated and relatively private. Bring something to float down the river on for a bit of extra fun.

Layton's Corner

Site 5 - Burroman Flat Private Campsites

Overall we had a lovely time! Beautiful nature and lots to explore. The river was idyllic and will be perfect for when our daughter is a bit older. Unfortunately there wasnt too much for her to do safely as she's only 2.5yo. I would definitely recommend coming here with a bit older children. Also, we didn't know too much about the surrounding areas and only found out about the berry picking area located approx min down the road as we were leaving. I think it would be a great idea to maybe have a little information leaflet or something at the site about nearby activities. Otherwise it was great and I would definitely recommend it to others!

Site 4 - Burroman Flat Private Campsites

This is the third time we have stayed at Burromans Flat and we absolutely love it! We love the privacy and camping under the Peppermint trees. We recently stayed there for 13 days and with firewood and clean water onsite, we only had to head into town twice for ice and supplies. There is so much to do, including swimming in the river, going for bush walks, watching the wildlife and the blueberry farm is only a 5 min drive away (a must do)!

If you have a boat, it's a great location however if, like us, you prefer to just swim there is no obvious easy access to the water except for the boat ramp. Also no area for kids to splash about in.

Site 1A

The site sizes are well spaced out and thoughtful. Even though we had our own toilet the ones provided were very clean. The host Matthew was very helpful regarding road conditions and the best way to access his property. The property was lovely and we felt the serenity. The river had some debris from recent flooding so be prepared to step over obstacles to get to the best part of the river. I was able to get waist deep in a clear pool at site 1A. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back .

First Flat

Matt was a very attentive and easy to deal with property owner. His sites are well maintained and in a beautiful location just out of Batemans bay. When we had to change our plans, he was very reasonable even though this wasn't strictly a requirement. Highly recommend.

Beautiful flat spacious campsites

Really nice away from everything campsite to just kick back and relax. We stayed in campsite #3 which had freshly mowed, was really flat and very spacious. It was just the two of us but you could easily have a decent sized group on this site and there would be plenty of room to each have your only little spot. Really well looked after campsites 👌 Campsite #3 has the perfect mix of sun and shade. On our stay out in the open outside of the campsite was really hot, inside campsite 3 it had this beautiful breeze flowing through the shaded areas and it was just perfect. Great little spot for a fire pit to kick back with a few drinks to see the night in. The walk down to the river was a little bit steep but doable from our site, but we found a nice little flowing stream area further down with easier access, this would probably be closer to site 6. Water was sparking clean and refreshingly cool. 3 Porta Loo’s as you come in the main gate if you need them, also has a large tank of water there as well. Matt’s directions from Termeil were absolutely spot on. Thanks Matt, really appreciate your setup.. we had a really nice stay! Cheers 🙏 Paul & Beck

A place to feel nature!

The best place to camp ever! We stayed for 3 nights and it was amazing, beautiful views and great spots. A perfect option to appreciate the sky at night, recommended to camp during new moon time. The place is so ample and we enjoyed having a great area without sharing with many other campers. It's a perfect place to enjoy nature and feels its vibe, rather than disturb it. The toilets were clean and accessible, and they provided cleaning products and toilet paper. They also provided drinking water, which made our experience much better! To improve signs in the place as the area it's quite large, also the river is surrended by bush so it wasn't easy to find a good spot to enter but we figured it out. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing land with all of us!

Camping with a river. DELIGHTFUL!

Perfect place to camp, the site is a nice flat grassy area, short walk to the river and the toilet. Had an amazing time and will definitely come back. Matt was also easy to communicate :)
