The RLB stands for the last names of the given Ancestors (Rivera/Lawson/Bennett). This property & structures date back to President Grover Cleveland’s time. I found documents that he had signed for my grandfather. The main cabin was drilled to see how old it was. It was built somewhere around 1867 or 1868. The smaller cabins were built before the main cabin. The main cabin is one of the five Ladies of the Pecos River. There were only five cabins first built and settled in the territory that the logs were called dove and groove. The Stone cabin was built first and no record of the year other than it was before the main cabin. The cabin by the river was used as the kitchen until the main house was built. Then the River Cabin became the shed to store saddles and bridles, ropes & etc. My father moved the door from the side that is now a window to the front by the river and made it into a one room cabin. The front which is the kitchen now was added in the mid 80’s.This property was homesteaded in 1867 by my great grandfather. It was a working ranch up til 1968. There is hiking, fishing, biking, camping; tubing on the Pecos River within our 6.2 acres. Campfires, Hummingbirds, Mallard Ducks in the pond and the pond can be fished out of also. Wild life seen are turkeys, deer, chimp-monks, bobcats, mountain lions, & bears. Big beautiful blue jays, magpies, swallows, oscars, red tailed hawks, cranes & american eagles. The area grasses are mowed & kept clean, however, the Pecos River is just a few feet away, and water from a small stream right in front of the stone cabin. The mountains are right beside u. It’s very private within a gated fenced in property. The Tererro General Store is two miles away if you need groceries, fishing supplies or wood. Please note that there is no bathroom inside the cabin. There is an outhouse as well as a 5 gallon bucket with toilet seat with lid inside the cabin. There is no shower at our cabin, there is a basin and bucket for heating water.

RLB HISTORICAL STONE CABIN
Amazing land & host
The land is so beautiful, there is access to the pecos & in front of the stone cabin is a small water way that is about 1ft deep. We walked all over the 6 acres and found some really amazing places to just sit and relax. The host is great, she's very friendly and we enjoyed speaking with her about the history of the area. The stone cabin is nice, it has running water, a bed, satillite tv, overhead power, a fridge, microwave, and toaster oven. It was very clean. The outhouse was up above the hill. You can get internet sitting on the front porch. Also, make sure to turn on your GPS services before leaving town. You will lose internet but the GPS signal lead me straight to the gate once set up. All in all, we can't wait to come back. We're already looking for future dates to come. Thanks again Ms. Bennett!

RLB HISTORICAL STONE CABIN
Rustic Homestead Retreat
Lovely location right next to the river with fun Acequias for kids to play in and swings as well. The cabin is smaller than it looks in the pictures. It's built into the hillside and is a bit cave like, but cozy. The site is nearby other cabins, so it does not feel very private. Lots of beautiful locations nearby as well along the Pecos river.
