Wonderful getaway from everything.
We really enjoyed our stay here. There are plenty of trails in the area for hiking. We set up with a roof top tent and found the location to be very quiet and peaceful. All the amenities were top not and very clean.
I would highly recommend a high clearance or 4x4 vehicle. Do not show up to this with either a front wheel drive car, low clearance, or towing anything. The 2 mile road to the campsite is very steep and can be really rough if it recently rained. In my truck it took about 15 minutes to do 2 miles.

Beautiful property!
Beautiful property! As it's stated, last two miles up the mountain are bumpy. We enjoyed pitching our tent in the meadow with trees right behind us. Clean kitchen and solar latrine. Several very friendly dogs will come up and greet you as you get closer to the house. Short trails are very beautiful. We appreciated Star's hospitality!

Rustic camping- comforts of home
Let me begin with why I gave the directions to the camp a mid rating. Star will give you exact directions to the camp, but Hipcamp didn’t give us those directions. So, follow what Star tells you they are exact.
Now that that’s out of the way it is beautiful there. Star and the crew have done an amazing job! You will have the beauty and serenity of rustic camping with the ease of using the restroom, shower, kitchen and you can even eat your meal in the main house. Star gives you a detailed map of the trails they’ve cleared when you get there, she lets you know which ones are ready for use. They’ve done a great job of marking the trails. Every once in awhile you might catch yourself enjoying the beauty and have moved off the trail a bit, just take a second to look around and you’ll be back on your way.
Things to know- first you need a higher profile vehicle to maneuver the 2 mile road to the camp. That 2 miles took us 20 minutes to drive- it’s a serious road. If you’re concerned with nature- like you don’t like animal poo and uneven campsites this might not be the place for you. The sites are very rustic- it is nature after all. I think those are the main things that might bother the faint of heart folk. I’m excited to see what the future brings for Stars endeavor!
I hope to be able to post pictures.

Thanks for the stay!
Star was welcoming and helpful when we arrived at Ocate Cliffs. They showed us around the different camping spots we could choose from. They also told us were could choose another spot we liked that wasn't marked. We ended up picking a spot that was perfect for group camping.
There is a solar toilet and a spot to hang your solar shower that is private. It was nice to have the platform to stand on! Clever! The indoor communal space was lovely and inviting.
You cannot cook meat at this listing so be sure to precook your meat or bring jerky. Overall, we had a super great time and will be back in the future!

Best stay in the mountains!
While looking for a place to get away during the shut-down, we found that many camp sites were closed. We lucked out when we found this one! As far as managed camp sites go, this one is quite out there. Luckily we were given very clear directions to the propriety. The last two miles were pretty rough, so you must have a dependable vehicle with good clearance! Sites surround a central building, which is fitted with a full kitchen where you can prepare food. This is bear country, so we had NO problem following the cooking regulations. During the pandemic, our host gave clear instructions for cleaning up to maintain social distance and mitigate the spread of germs. There is also an outdoor bathroom and access to water. The property is covered with wild irises, and was incredibly beautiful! And best of all for us, dogs were allowed off leash :) We loved this place!
