Welcome to Harvey @ The Little Goat Outpost! The outpost is a rural homestead with two miniature goats located in the tiny village of Tres Piedras, New Mexico and Harvey is a 2002 Bluebird Mini Bird from Bend, Oregon.
Harvey retired from services in January 2020, purchased in June 2020 and then over the course of the next 8 months I transformed him into the Tiny Home on Wheels you see today!
Located on the outskirts of Taos County with a population of under 400, the village of Tres Piedras (“Three Rocks” in Spanish) offers a much-desired reprieve from the ubiquitous capitalism, globalism, and technology that permeates our urban centers. Sitting on 2 acres in the foothills of the Tusas mountains, and a few steps from the Carson National Forest, "Harvey @ The Little Goat Outpost" is a veritable sanctuary.
The site was remote and lovely. Harvey makes for reasonably comfortable camping, and the sky at night is dark and perfect for stargazing.
Due to a miscommunication with Kyrie, we arrived without having received the guest manual which sets expectations and explains how to operate the site. The lack of information made for a bit of an uncomfortable stay, as we encountered dogs on the property that we were not expecting and we were unable to operate the bus doors. (The dogs turned out to be friendly.)
We couldn’t reach Kyrie at the site due to a lack of cell reception, but once we did connect, she sent us the manual, which had all the information we needed for a comfortable stay, and graciously apologized.
Overall we had a good time. I would suggest leaving a paper copy of the guest manual at the site for easy access.
The bus was amazing and had more than everything you’ll need to enjoy your time! The rooftop deck is amazing and they supplied plenty of cooking supplies and the stove top in the bus works great! Cute goats and dogs on the property too!
Needless to say, it was fantastic! The interior space was practical and very neat. It was our first camping in the U.S, I'd say Harvey is a good place for even beginners without any equipment. The loo locates between the bus and camping site and shared with them, but nothing problems.
There were a pot, frying pan, various kinds of utensils, and basic seasonings(such as salt, pepper, olive oil etc.)
The firepower of stove was also strong enough. This is as good as a house. I can't recommend it enough.
Harvey is such a unique getaway! The bus is cozy yet specious, fully equipped with a little kitchen, lounge area, and a comfortable bed. There's a charcoal grill and a fire pit for your s’mores. We watched the sunset while having dinner, and then climbed up the roof deck for stargazing. Kyrie was super easy to communicate with, and Tanya at The Little Goat Outpost was wonderful and even invited us to join her and her goats on a hike. So much fun! Would definitely come back!
Harvey was a great place to call “home” for a short weekend retreat with the little. There were places to bike and hike and when we felt like resting for a bit, there was a TV that we hooked our AppleTV to (because WiFi!) Kyrie was very responsive when I contacted her and Tara was onsite to make sure we had everything we needed. We had a pleasant stay and I’m sure we’ll stay again in the future.
