There is a solar powered extension cord outlet to charge or power small devices as sun allows and we have a composting pit toilet with small changing tent over it for privacy, please use ash from bucket to cover your poop, BYO-TP. Plenty of firewood from the woods to burn if wind is low or nonexistent. Dispersed camping is anywhere in the forest, hike in from the parking areas but please don't get lost! We can show you a few spots to choose from when you arrive based on your wants. We can accommodate large parties of campers. Nudity is allowed anywhere on site from the creek to the parking lot and surrounding forests but not directly on our shared driveway before warning signs or close to neighbors yards Neighbors have an animal sanctuary so you may hear roosters, horses, etc. when they're hungry Please call if you have any questions or concerns about your visit here - 406-249-7704

We welcome visitors to come camp in the pine forest at BarterTowne, located southeast of Canaan, NH, far from civilization. There are plenty of level areas to pitch your tents in the unlimited surrounding wilderness. Two campers are included in this base rate with 1 vehicle parked in the main parking lot, more people are extra. A second vehicle is not allowed but please book extra forest camp sites for each additional vehicle which reserves an extra parking spot in the lot for the extra vehicle and also includes up to 2 guests each. Go as far as you like into the forest but don't get lost! There are numerous deer nesting areas in the woods. Anywhere along the stream is good to keep your bearings and you may hike downstream to get further from the driveway. Includes use of the composting trench toilet. The water hose is turned on for fresh cold water, filter that yourself or get a jug of our filtered drinking water delivered each day. A propane fired shower is available as upgrade.

We welcome visitors to Camp Quitcherbitchin located at a resort we call BarterTowne. This camp site allows much serenity where the visitor can relax and Quit Yer Bitchin! Unplug from the stress of the artificial world here. We welcome visitors to enjoy a calm and peaceful vacation at BarterTowne. Two units max allowed at this site, 2 vehicles or 1 rv and 1 vehicle, a third is not allowed. Unlimited tenting and forest campsite space is included. Base price is for up to two adults, with up to two vehicles, more people are extra. Please book another "forest" camp site for each additional vehicle which reserves a parking spot in the lot for the extra vehicle and also includes 2 guests. These sites all have excellent cellular reception for staying connected if that's your preference. There is a rock circle fire pit at this camp. This site has mostly level ground for camping or parking a small rv, mostly surrounded by trees. This site is a short walk to the trench toilet, which is included. A Camp toilet is available for rent as well. There's a shared use water hose for cold water. Filtered drinking water is available. Access to the propane fired hot shower is available as upgrade. This is a prime location for other campers to visit and socialize at your fire circle. Includes parking at the site for 2 vehicles or 1 rv and 1 vehicle, a third is not included. Plenty of forest camping space is included if you have a large camp to set up. Base price includes up to two people. You may book more forest camp sites for additional vehicle parking spots including 2 more guests each. This site has a rock circle fire pit and receives good morning sun exposure from the east. It is at the top of a hill overlooking a garden and the parking areas close to the Popup. It has mostly level ground for camping or parking on. It is a short walk to the trench toilet, which is included. A personal Camp toilet is available for rent as well. The community water hose will be available May to November with potable well water for cold showers and all other uses. We have buckets to bring water the short walk back to this camp. Filtered drinking water is available as an extra. A propane fired shower is available as an extra. Enjoy!

Base price is up to 4 guests, with a max of 6, and includes two vehicles. YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN SLEEPING BAGS, LINENS, BLANKETS, PILLOWS, propane/electricity, DISHES, UTENSILS, TOILET PAPER, POTS AND PANS and other camping materials. Bed sizes: Main end - 6' x 6'5" Kitchen table - 6' x 41" Secondary end - 6' x 4' One parking space is at the front door to the camper but two small vehicles could squeeze there near picnic table but please don't block our driveway there and please book extra forest camp sites for each additional vehicle beyond 2 which reserves a parking spot in the lot for an extra vehicle and also includes 2 extra guests. This camper receives morning sun exposure from the east and is next to the garden and a low bush blueberry patch. The camper has zipper panels that open to allow air flow. This camper is fairly level and a short walk to the trench toilet, which is included. A personal Camp toilet is available for add-on as well. The community water hose will be turned on May to November with potable well water for cold showers and all other uses. We have buckets to bring water the short walk back to this camper. Filtered drinking water is available as an extra. Access to a propane fired hot shower is available as an extra. Appliances are in the camper, please bring a standard propane tank or buy as add-on to use such but appliances aren't guaranteed to work until we use them more and I'll update the listing with specifics

I enjoyed tent camping at barter towns, I went mainly to just set camp up and then go explore but I ended up socializing with some pretty cool people ! El was very welcoming and friendly and I’d definitely come back!

El was a fantastic host that made this independently-run campground an amazing stop for a weekend. He’s generous and welcoming, provided fresh eggs and coffee, a bonfire, showed me to the farmers market - I don’t think I’ve ever been to a campground like this before. Awesome hiking and lakes nearby :)

Off-grid back country paradise!

BarterTowne was a unique and engaging experience for my partner and I. We got to experience true off-grid living, cook meals made from local produce, and enjoy a clear night sky with ZERO light pollution. Both the host and the locals showed unparalleled hospitality. Our host was nice enough to show us around and give detailed explanations of the different projects on the property that made it sustainable.

El is an excellent, conscientious host. It was a fantastic experience with such a sense of freedom in nature. Being able to really experience that for the first time in a supportive community was wonderful. Lots of memorable campfire conversations and time to reflect on things. And my heart was completely stolen by the cats, Mr. Fang & Retail are in my heart forever!

I loved this place! Hosts were informative and friendly, yet gave privacy :) The hot shower add on was such a treat! The land is vast and beautiful. We ended up staying about a week and a half due to how much we enjoyed the space. Thank you!!

Loved tent camping on Michael's property. There was a trench bathroom not far from site which was convenient, there was also a shower available, cool set up! The sunrise in the morning was beautiful. The atmosphere was naturally refreshing!
