Rustic ranch land only a stone's throw away from town. The historic Santosh Ranch is surrounding a 3,700 s/f warehouse "Shop" with a hot indoor shower available upon request. The Ecozoic bio-filter toilet is next to the barn, and is available to all Hip Campers. We are walking distance to Lyon County Fairgrounds (kitty corner across the highway), the town of Yerington (one mile) and the Night in the Country location (two miles). There are a half dozen corrals and a few animal shelters, but has not had animals for years. Hip Campers can choose to back into one of the corral areas to have fenced off privacy especially with pets, and use of the animal shelter as shade. There are a pair of picnic tables and wood stump benches in the various camping areas. There is a fire pit behind the Shop that can only be used by the owner when it is not high-risk fire season. Also a gas stove BBQ in the shop. Both can be used upon request. We are in a high risk fire area so there are no fires allowed any time of the year. There are relics from the 19th century when the Santosh Ranch was a working farm property. There is also the frame of one of the first automobiles ever built! The wheel spokes and the frame are made of wood, but the chassis where the engine one rested is made of steel. It is located next to the Ecozoic toilet.This bucolic and historical ranch is located on the eastern edge of the county seat Yerington, NV. It is close enough to walk or bike ride on country roads to town or the venue for Night in the Country, but far enough away to be tranquil. The Lyon Country Fairgrounds is located kitty corner only a 10 minute walk on a dirt road. The front four acres are the historic corrals and perfectly flat for camping. There will be a portable Ecozoic toilet on site on 6/23. The back four acres surrounding the big silver workshop are also flat and available for a dozen RVs. There are no hook-ups, however. Guests will have access to cold showers in the shop and a hot tub in season when the workshop is open. Non-potable water from our well is available.

Fantastic spot for camping!! Brad was a gracious host, made us feel welcome and invited us over for a bbq. The spot for the tent was level and clean, and the night sky was beautiful.

Historic Santosh Ranch in Yerington

Brad is a fantastic host. We were among his first ‘hipcampers’. We got a flat on the way and had to be towed to site. Brad was very accommodating and offered to drive me in the quest for a new tire. We had a group campfire and enjoyed each other’s company. We parked on the side of a big shed and it was very private. The side is about a mile from the city which offered all the amenities. Including a RV repair and tire shop!

Historic Santosh Ranch in Yerington

This spot was conveniently located and had plenty of room for RVs, tents, and even car campers like me. The host was super welcoming—he’s an author and knows a ton about the local history. We ended up sipping beers and watching the moonrise, which was a perfect way to end the day. Highly recommend if you're looking for a laid-back place with good energy and even better stories.
