Welcome to the High Desert! Each site can accommodate one truck and trailer/RV. If you are planning on bringing additional vehicles, please reserve an additional site. Situated on a mountain ridge top with great big sky views, our pick-your-own RV campsites share the property with our nearby BioHome Research Facility. We are 420 friendly, but please, no loud parties or hard drugs. Spread out over 40 acres, if you're looking for stillness and serenity, this is the place to be. Need a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, but still need to stay connected in some ways? Our property has great cell service, so you can still easily communicate with your loved ones back home. Nestled nearby on the property is our BioHome Research Facility, cared for and designed by your Host, Edward. Unique in its construction, this BioHome was constructed in 1997 and is designed to have completely closed, self-supporting life support systems. If the idea of living in a completely self sufficient, off-grid home is appealing and fascinating to you, please add the BioHome Experience Extra to your booking, at $35. Your Host will spend an hour with you and your group explaining the inner workings and construction of the Biohome. Please note, you are camping nearby Project Biohome. While we encourage your interest and curiosity in our project, please do not trespass onto this portion of the property. Our location does experience a variety of paranormal activity, including orbs. Have your camera ready! "In a lifetime of photography this was the first of multiple unexplained photography events including dancing light streaks and unusual light trails. This place is magical." - Sincerely Patrick Leon Our property gets plenty of sunshine for most of the year in the summer months, with temperatures in July and August reaching the high 90's or more. We are in the desert, after all! Please bring plenty of water and be prepared for the elements that are unique to our region. As we are at considerable elevation, please be prepared for wind, as well! Tents are not suited for this environment. There are many scenic canyons to hike and explore nearby: Only 90 minutes away are the stunning Ruby Mountains, great for hiking and exploring. As one Google reviewer said "Don't come here. It's just too beautiful and you wont be able to handle it!" - Jacob L. Bring your fishing poles and watersports supplies, as the nearby South Fork Reservoir and Wild Horse Reservoir 90 minutes away are popular spots with the locals for fishing and fun in the sun by the water. In the Winter months you can take off in any direction on your snow shoes and cross country skies for miles. There are exciting views everywhere you look! This is big sky country with great night sky views. If you're looking for a great dark sky destination, this is the spot for you. This area has lots of wildlife like antelope, badgers, rabbits and this is open range for cattle. You may have a cow visitor! Please make sure to keep all food properly stored and disposed of so as to not attract wildlife to your campsite. Welcome to the High Desert, we're sure you'll leave amazed at the views. Learn more about this land: Quiet is a blessing; it allows one to hear oneself. No crime in the neighborhood, the antelope still run free out here. The never-ending changes in the sky (great storms and colorful sunsets) are humbling. The world goes on around me with little effect on my lifestyle. This is a majestic area with 11,000 ft. mountain peaks, great canyons and upper valleys. Looking for that gorgeous Milky Way? Our property has some of the best star gazing anywhere in the country. At such a high elevation and away from all the light pollution, the stars just shine brighter here. Plenty of sunshine for most of the year in the summer months, July and August it can get very hot. In the Winter you can take off in almost any direction on your snow shoes and cross country skis. This area has lots of wildlife like antelope, badgers, rabbits and this is open range for cows. Please be aware you may encounter wildlife and plan accordingly.Welcome to the High Desert!  Each site can accommodate one truck and trailer/RV. High Desert Camping at 5200 ft
Dark skies and quiet
We came for the eclipse, which was playing picaboo, but had a lovely outdoor adventure that was very educational. With minimal light pollution at this altitude, the night sky becomes an open canvas for stargazers. The Milky Way stretches across the horizon definitely a positive for anyone who loves gazing at the stars. Be sure to bring a telescope or binoculars to make the most of this celestial experience. We opted for the extra discussion of living off the grid in the biohome and to learn some about unexplained phenomena in the area. Lovely trip if all you need is dirt and sky.

High Desert Camping at 5200 ft
360º views under the stars
This spot was great! I was looking for a campsite that felt isolated but wasn't far from Interstate 80 and this checked both of those boxes! If you're a fan of dispersed camping but couldn't find anything with that nearby, this is the place for you. The site itself was on top of a hilltop with beautiful 360º views of the surrounding mountains, the distant town of Crescent Valley, and Ed's property with the biohomes. Ed was excellent at communicating and we coordinated our ETA with him and he was waiting for us at the gate to his property upon our arrival. You do have to pack it in / pack it out including your own waste, but this wasn't a problem for us. We especially loved seeing the stars and the annular eclipse here. Would stay again!

High Desert Camping at 5200 ft
My family and I loved our stay at Biohome. Edward was a great host and was very flexible and responsive as our arrival was a but delayed. The view was amazing and worth the trek. In fact, we only planned on staying one night but decided to extend our stay just to be able to enjoy the scenery for another day and get to know our host better. We enjoyed our chat with Edward and learned more about the history of the bio home.

Definitely worth the detour!
This was an amazing experience for the whole family! The BioHome was very interesting. We’ve spent a night off-grid, with the stars and a spectacular view. Our host was so kind and accommodating. Would definitely repeat the experience. Highly recommend! 😊
