Peaceful Prairie Campsites consists of 200+ acres of prairie pasture bordering the south side of Scotts Bluff National Monument. Under the care of third generation steward, Lisa Betz-Marquez, the beautiful bluffs feature a stunning backdrop to a those seeking a private and peaceful experience, birding, wildlife-spotting, or an adventure-seeking hike. Rustic Tent sites (allowing cars, vans, rooftop tents, truck campers, and motorcycles, but not RVs or pull-behind trailers) are located directly on the prairie. The prairie is a fragile environment. To preserve its beauty and health, trailers and RVs must book the RV sites. We appreciate your cooperation. RV sites 50 amp electricity and a rustic experience on crushed concrete near our corral. You'll have foot access just steps from the prairie. All sites share access to delicious potable water, a clean porta potty, and a funky outdoor camp shower (with unheated water), as well as private foot access to hiking at various levels of challenge to the south side of our nation's Scotts Bluff National Monument. A small group of yearling cattle are at home on the prairie in summer months, and may share you the prairie tent area with campers in the months of May and June. Prairie guests have relished the feeling of having the place to themselves to enjoy the majesty of the landscape, the magic of our starry night skies and the soulful communion with the land. Lisa is the fourth generation of her family to live on Valley View Farm, located directly south of the prairie. Her family has been steward of these lands since 1925. Lisa is a member of a pioneer family. Ancestor, Martin Gering, came to the valley in 1887. As an early investor in the fledgling town, the town of Gering was named for him. Nestled in a gorgeous open area within our canyon, this exclusive site offers amenities perfect for a larger group of friends, a family gathering, a private, cozy hangout for two, or a solo retreat. The 3-tiered natural log amphitheater seating area built into the side of the canyon and large ceremonial fire pit surrounded by sand, is perfect for an evening under the stars. The separate kitchen fire pit invites more intimate conversation near the convenient picnic table. Firewood is included. (To protect our prairie ecosystem, please do not bring outside firewood). A super clean porta potty, delicious underground drinking water, and a funky outdoor shower is available nearby for all campers. Please note: If you would like to add a private porta potty or several, to this site for your event, this can be available as an extra with a week's advance notice. ARRIVAL TIME: April - June: 4 p.m. until 1/2 hour before dark.   July: 7 p.m. until 1/2 hour before dark. August: 6 pm until 1/2 hour before dark. Our rustic RV sites have been described as "boondocking with water and electric" and that's pretty accurate. You will be arriving via dirt and graveled county roads, and parking on crushed concrete next to the corral on this working farm. The old corral structure is used only as shelter for animals, and sometimes camper vehicles during inclement weather. Our site offers private recreational access to 200+ acres of gorgeous prairie, including the south part of the towering chain of bluffs that make up Scotts Bluff National Monument. Below your site, you'll see a peaceful valley of patchwork cropland featuring corn, beans, and hay. Guests often enjoy walking their dogs along the road that divides these two scenic delights. Mere footsteps away on the prairie, you can enjoy mountain biking, hiking at all levels of challenge, birding, and interaction with our 34-year-old horse Tigger and her donkey pal Martha. Amenities: Delicious drinking water is fill up only from a hose right at your site, and not a dedicated hook up. Recently upgraded electricity is 50 amp. A 30-50 amp conversion cord is available as an "extra." A repurposed water tank serves as a funky outdoor shower. Though we do not offer dumping or septic, a scrupulously clean porta potty, camp shower, and trash receptacle are on site. The best time of the year for these sites is spring and fall, because it can get pretty hot most of the day in July and early August. Early mornings and evenings are absolutely magical, no matter the season. (We typically only make 3 RV sites available in this general area at any one time but if you are a group looking to camp together, we can accommodate up to 4 rigs with electrical hookups, contact us if you are interested in this).

Lisa is a great host and communicator. She really wants you to have a safe, and pleasant experience. It's a great property, very private and peaceful. The storms interrupted our trip some, but I would definitely want to come back here.

Loved staying here. Views are great. Very isolated and quiet, which we enjoyed. Rained heavily and got muddy on the road in and out - but nothing too bad. We handled it easily. Road and campsite well maintained.

LIsa was great with communication since I had car troubles and did not arrive at the start of my reservation. She helped with directions and met me on arrival and indicated where to park. Access includes a single lane private road along an irrigation canal. I can see why the warning about wet weather. The parking spot near an older farm garage and corrals is level and easy for my 31 ft. Class A to fit. Did require a 3 point turn to depart though. The location is away from town and is quiet. The views are lovely. of the bluffs and farmed valley. Unfortunately the shower hot water was not working because I was interested in that since I have been boondocking.

It was so fun camping right by Scott's bluff! It made for really good camp photos having beautiful scenery in the background. Also, when we arrived it was very windy, but Lisa moved us to another available site that was shielded from the weather and closer to the entrance and bathroom. It was very nice of her!

LOVED camping at this spot! Great view at Scott's bluffs and great opportunity to hike right next to them with trails. Lisa was very nice and welcoming with everything! She showed us where we were staying and was very friendly! With it being dry there was a fire ban, but we were fine with as it was all ready so warm! Shower was great after a hot morning hike and was very cute with how it was repurposed. We will definitely have to check out this place again!

I loved how the hosts came to welcome me to the property and personally give me directions to the site. Throughout the stay if there was something that was wrong I was informed immediately. The host Sarah told me of the potential dangers (snakes as it is in a prairie; and I had no issues) and answered any questions I had. She informed me of the wildlife in the area and what I could see. I felt very safe as a young solo female traveler. The views from my site was amazing. I could hear some louder cars on a highway but it still was very calming and you could see thousands of stars. I heard more wildlife than anything else.

Prairie Paradise and Birds!

Lisa is an amazing host and her property is something very special. She is working to return the once farm land to much needed natural prairie which she was able to tell me all about. The bird life was diverse and abundant. I counted at least 25 species just at the campsite alone. As for the site, there is everything you need. Water from her well, 50amp power, a yard light which you can turn on and off. There is a super cool outdoor shower, and porta-potty. This area is quite dark at night as the bluff block the light from town, so the stars are spectacular. It's quiet and peaceful and was the perfect place for me to stay for a week during a work visit to the area. I'll be back for fun next time! Thank you, Lisa, for sharing your little piece of paradise with me.

We had the best experience here! The campground was beautiful, and Lisa was a wonderful host. She spent some time talking with us about Tigger and Martha, and even let me give them a few treats. We brought our dog, who loved exploring the campground. We only stayed for one night, but we plan to come back and stay a while longer next year!

Lisa's land was incredibly quiet and peaceful. I didn't hear any other campers due to how far the other campsites are. The night sky gets filled with stars since there isn't too much light pollution. The tree shade was very welcoming, as most of the land is prairie.

Lisa is a GREAT host! We had a power site but next time we will rent a site on the prairie and rough it! The views are breathtaking, easy to get to. 10min drive to hiking at Scottsbluff, and a 30min drive to Chimney Rock. We went and walked around on the mowed trail on the prairie at the grounds. 10/10 will stay again! Tigger and Martha are friendly as well!

We loved camping at Lisa's place! Tigger and Martha were the sweetest horse and donkey pair. I got lost getting to her place (which was my bad) but Lisa patiently waited to greet us and show us our camp spot. A picnic table would have been helpful especially since there was a fire ban. I believe there was another camp spot that had a table. The hot shower was not working during our stay because it had broken the morning prior, but that did not bother us and Lisa made sure that we had the option to take a cold shower is needed. On the night we were there, we saw the aurora borealis, making this stay incredible!

A wonderful site away from it all. Clear directions from our friendly host - thanks Lisa. If you’re feeling energetic we can recommend scrambling up to the top of the nearby bluff. Incredible views for as far as the eye can see. Highly recommended.

Partial Shade with Stunning Views
I enjoyed my visit to Western Nebraska! Staying here made that possible, and Lisa welcomed my support animal. I didn't realize I would be staying with other animals, but I love them and liked having Martha and Tigger around though maybe perhaps better they were in seperate pens than the humans to avoid things that go along with having farm animals around like poop and flies. I think Lisa did a great job setting up the camp with refreshed bathrooms and a shower though I wasn't able to get the hot water to go. She brought me eggs. Thank you. I had to leave a night early and wasn't sure about getting reimbursed for the night not stayed but I didn't explicitly ask for that though she knew I was leaving early. Lisa is very hospitable and a kind person. I am grateful I had the opportunity to stay here.

What a lovely stay! Lisa is such a wonderful host, and accompanied by the sweetest horse tigger and donkey Martha. I thought the pictures looked too good to be true, but it’s exactly what you see! My friends and I were in awe the whole stay.

Such a peaceful spot! And we loved getting to meet Lisa. She was so helpful and gave us great tips for visiting the area. We'd love to go back and stay longer than one night!
