Nestled between Yellowstone’s Lamar Valley, Montana’s Beartooth Mountains, and the Wyoming Sunlight Basin. We are surrounded by some of the most majestic peaks in Montana. Silver Gate sits at an elevation of 7,400 ft, while the peaks around us soar to over 11,000ft. We are surrounded by some of the most majestic peaks in Montana. The town of Silver Gate was founded in 1932 by John J. Taylor and J. J. White to serve the people visiting Yellowstone National Park. The original construction covenants for the town required log and rustic architecture only, which gives Silver Gate its very unique character. Whether you stay a week or a day, you’ll find no better place to relax and enjoy Montana at its best than in Silver Gate. Wildlife abounds in the area. On the high slopes, you can look for bighorn sheep, mountain goats, and elk. Often in the early morning or evening hours, you can see moose, deer, or bison right out your cabin door.

The cabin was beautiful and everything was new and in wonderful condition. Very close to the Northeast Gate of Yellowstone and perfect for us because we love to drive Lamar Valley in the mornings and evenings. Check in instructions were a little vague, but they returned my call promptly to explain what to do if coming in late. Also, the Hipcamp listing said checkout before noon, but when we got there, our paperwork said we would be charged $75 and our possessions removed if we were there after 10:00am. We got up for sunrise in the park and came back for late breakfast and to pack; we were planning on a little later checkout than 10:00 am, but it worked out. We would definitely stay again.

School House Cabin
Really loved the Silver Gate property. Staying in the school house was a great treat. It was very clean, comfy, and warm with a small but functional kitchen. The grill and firepit outside was a definite bonus. I don't think I've ever slept so well as I did there.

Motel Room 11
We only stayed for 1 night but we loved it there. Everyone was super sweet and helpful. Allison in the office answered a bunch of questions for us and gave us a great dinner recommendation. We were surprised that up by the office we had a signal, it was nice to be able to connect with family back home. Super cool fire and chairs to sit out front. Room 11 was very nice , comfy bed and again surprised to have service in our room.
