We loved our time at Sanctuary Farm. The farm itself is on a private road, off a minor country road in a heavily treed area - The drive there is spectacular. You know you are in for something special! The yurt was placed well away from the owner's home, which gave lots of privacy and the night sky is DARK, so perfect for stargazing. The composting sawdust outhouse was a short walk from the yurt & surprisingly pleasant - no odor or flies and plenty of ventilation. 1000 times nicer than a port-o-potty. The solar heated camp shower provided by the host worked great. Just be sure to shower in the evening after the water has had all day to heat up! The optional breakfast was delish - definitely worth the cost & we ate out for our other meals, so never used the outdoor kitchen. We enjoyed our time here & would definitely recommend it to others seeking a stay off-the-beaten path.

This was such a cozy slice of heaven out in the Montana back country. We got up at 3 am and saw the Milky Way and so many stars. The outdoor kitchen made meals scenic and beautiful. Would stay here again 10/10.

A little taste of Heaven! Sanctuary Farm was a peaceful retreat. The yurt was rejuvenating and comfortable. Everything was a perfect balance of both comfort and function. There was electricity and minimal wifi, which was wonderful to be unplugged for a short while. Matt met us upon arrival and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed, and he gave us privacy and was respectful. Water was provided upon arrival which was much needed. We loved seeing their kittens, goats, sheep, and cattle dog Huckleberry. I definitely recommend the breakfast, the sourdough waffle sandwich was delicious and he was so kind to accommodate my vegetarian preference. I wish we could have stayed longer. I enjoyed reading the guestbook of all who have graced the sanctuary. It was the perfect start to our trip. A creek ran right through the property, which was wonderful to listen to from our home-away-from-home. It would be a pleasure to visit again; I highly recommend staying here if you’re anywhere near the area. It’s worth the drive, and has a saloon not too far up the road. Five stars and hope to be back soon. So peaceful and comfortable. Thank you, Matt and Liz!

Matt and Liz were extremely generous, kind, and welcoming! The area is beautiful and secluded with all camping and cooking amenities provided for, should you need them. The yurt was cozy and the outdoor kitchen was a blast to use! The farm animals (goats, sheep, chickens, hares, just to name a few) were adorable. Overall just a fantastic place to go to, if you need to get out of the city and relax!

What a sweet spot! The yurt is large and roomy and super comfy. Turkeys and deer and goats and chickens and a couple cats and a peaceful spot in the woods. Great stargazing. The outdoor kitchen worked great for me (summertime). The outhouse is all good also (far from the yurt for those that might have trouble walking to it in the night). Matt and Liz were very sweet hosts and I made so much good use of all the peace and privacy.

The most perfect getaway. We had the best time at the Sanctuary cooking in the outdoor kitchen, listening to the birds, and learning about Liz and Mike's beautiful homestead. They are kind, welcoming people who lead inspiring lives! Thank you for sharing this land with us!

We really enjoyed our stay! Clean and comfortable yurt, with access to an outdoor kitchen, bath house, and outhouse. Property owners were very nice and accommodating. Highly recommended the breakfast sandwich - delicious!

Absolutely loved our stay, was just what we need to have a mental reset. When we arrived we were greeted by Matt and got a little tour of the property. Welcomed into the yurt with a nice toasty fire already going. The peace and quiet we found there was so nice compared to our city life. We didn't want to leave. The bed was so comfortable and breakfast in the morning was a 10/10! Loved the outdoor kitchen and they had everything that you would need. We will for sure be returning and I think my sister and I will do a weekend trip there due to her in the process of home steading she would love the knowledge of everything that she is already starting. Even the toilet was awesome I was weary of a "compostable toilet" but was so surprised and delighted that there was only a nice smell of cedar when you used it no matter how full. After our two night stay here husband and I have decided on new goal for what we want our life to look like. Thank you again to Matt and Liz for sharing your property with us.

Our 2 night stay at Liz and Matt’s Yurt was the highlight of our road trip. We didn’t arrive until just before sunset the first night, so we didn’t get to explore the property too much. The sky was super clear, and I did my best to stay awake to star gazer…, but the bed!! So darned comfy! Like sleeping on a cloud. The weather turned colder on the second day, so we enjoyed the wood fireplace in the mornings and after a fun hike outside Missoula. The breakfast sandwich, delish! chef’s kiss! Would definitely recommend this stay for all campers, glampers, and adventurers.

Beautiful surroundings in a unique building! Oh, and like everyone has reviewed, a delicious breakfast. I loved the wood stove as it reminded me of growing up in Alaska and my dad stoking the wood stove before we got up. Running to the outhouse also brought up so many memories!

We loved staying in the yurt! It was extremely cozy and just what we needed after a long drive. Our girls LOVED getting to meet the pup, chickens and goat. Breakfast was amazing. The hosts were extremely helpful and kind. What a treat!

The yurt was a beautiful space and furnished nicely. It fit us and our young children well (ages 3-5). Our hosts were very kind and brought delicious restaurant quality breakfasts to us each morning. For lunch and dinner the kitchen was well stocked with equipment to make cooking easy and the nearby towns also have good food. The trails and creek around and near the yurt were easy enough for this pregnant lady and her little people to enjoy. There is a shower available after you’re done exercising. We would strongly recommend staying here at this yurt.

We stayed here the night before going to Glacier, and it was the perfect introduction to the beauty of Montana. The Yurt is amazing, our host was so kind, and we absolutely loved the breakfast!! We can’t recommend it enough :)

I can't begin to say how amazing our stay was. The yurt was so cozy and comfortable, the hosts were absolutely wonderful, and the breakfast waffle sandwich was phenomenal. If you are visiting Missoula/Alberton area this is the place to stay. The landscape is full of indescribable beauty and this quiet little place is the perfect home away from home.

Really cool Yurt, bigger than it looks!
Our 5yo loved seeing the goats and chickens. Hosts were great and had a campfire all ready for us and s’mores just taste better in the mountains! Cool Creek running through property. Fire was ready in the yurt as well. Get the breakfast…trust me.

The land was beautiful and so peaceful to relax for a few days after roughing it in the woods the first portion of our trip. Breakfast was delicious. Loved meeting your pets especially all the kitties running around. You can tell how much these 2 really put love into their land, their home, and their rentals on the property. You guys are living my future homestead dreams :) Thanks for hosting us!

What an amazing spot! The hosts have created an ideal cushy camping experience: a quiet very comfortably appointed yurt low on a mountainside, with incredible breakfasts (folks aren’t lying about the sandwiches—YUM) a full kitchen building, solar showers, all on an organic farm. We would definitely come back!
