Camped in spot 3, very beautiful spot! The directions are accurate but finding the pull off was a bit difficult. It is before the bridge; don’t cross the bridge it is behind you. GREAT little spot to stay and the water that runs through makes it a very peaceful area. Highly recommend!

The Ellison ranch is the epitome of hipcamping! Big ranch, lots of space and privacy. The dogs so enjoyed it!! They also loved when I would get in the river with them for fun :) Kent and his ranch hand are there if you need them! I've always enjoyed ranchers because I come from ranchers. Good people! The sights around the area are spectacular not to mention the wildlife!! Do not miss Natural Bridge Falls. It isn't far away at all. The drive alone is spectacular! I rode my bike for 13 miles from the ranch down a forest road and it was breath taking. I really enjoyed my time in Big Timber as well. I love small towns where people are polite, helpful and friendly. If you have an rv, Big Timber Tire has an rv dump even after hours.

Camping site #4 was very peaceful and tucked away along the river. We enjoyed the beautiful views and easy access to the river to hang out on the rocks, and our pup loved the wide open freedom. Thank you for sharing your amazing property with us!

The land and river are beautiful and we enjoyed the solitude and being in the country. You share the area with lots of wildlife, and cows, and should be comfortable with managing barb wire tension fences to access the site. Read the directions carefully to get to the site. Experience with maneuvering camper trailers in tighter spaces and small hills is important.

The ranch is spectacular. Site 3 is small and sloped but with some patience and effort we were able to back our rpod in and get it level. The river, the mountains, the birds, the air... it was so refreshing. I would stay in any available site here, it is a special place.

Incredible spot on the West Boulder. Quiet, wildflowers and wildlife galore. Nothing but the sound of the creek rushing by. Mowed areas to camp (two sites in #4 to choose from - check out the one up top before you unpack at the first one). This is a real jewel so I hate to give it such a great review. But, I reckon everyone deserves a chance to enjoy it. Just be respectful of the neighbors, don’t spinfish or take trout - you aren’t in Missouri, and clean up after yourself. You are in one of the most beautiful spots in the country and it is special.

We loved staying here on our way west so we knew we would return to the camp on our way back home. Unspoiled and incredibly beautiful. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely beautiful!! We were blown away by the remote beauty. Very private and well kept. The river was loud, but a perfect sound to sleep to. We can’t wait to come back and plan to stay longer.

The only entrance gps knows is the way that’s closed and after driving aimlessly for an hour with no reception i was exhausted bc i drove for 10 hours prior to. I slept on the side of the road!

We fell in love with this ranch. Snow capped mountains, riverside campsite, too many stars to count at night - certainly one of our favorite spots. I hope we get the chance to come here again.

Wonderful campsite, although the lack of a bathroom is a little difficult. This is definitely a no frills campsite, make sure to be prepared when you camp here, and bring everything you absolutely need.

Breathtaking Scenery & Superb Hosts

This is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. There are numerous places to camp at each site. If you come in from the town of Livingston - I would not do it if you’re pulling a rig, if there’s inclement weather, or if you’re uncomfortable driving on steep and bumpy roads. It is gorgeous and it is treacherous. The drive in from the town of Big Timber is easy. The host, Kent, and the ranch hand who lives on the property are absolutely wonderful. They are kind, patient, and generous (so are their wives). The scenery is literally breathtaking. I had one of the greatest times of my life staying here. I HIGHLY recommend this stay.

This was the best hipcamp spot we have ever had. Everything was really green and the snowcapped mountains in the distance were stunning. It was really beautiful. Our campsite was very secluded and private with the West Boulder River running past it. We would definitely like to return there sometime.

This site is amazing! We love the atmosphere and the ability for the kids and the dogs to run free! The running water from the river brings joy throughout the entire stay while also allowing us to play and fish nearby. We plan to be back and have shared this info with multiple friends! The host is very accommodating and is quick to respond when questions arise. Thanks for being our first and last camping site for this camping season and we plan to be back next summer.

We absolutely loved this spot. It’s no wonder it’s been owned by the same family for 100 years. Site 2 is pretty small for a turnaround with a big trailer. I backed down the drive to get out and my trailer is only about 15 feet
