Aug 31, 2026 - Wildfire smoke has been negligible for over a week, with views out to 75 miles (subject to sudden change). Peaceful and quiet surrounded by lots of wildflowers, wildlife, and the pleasant aroma of sagebrush. Parking area is reasonably flat. Remote subdivision on a 4500-foot ridge, 10 miles from Columbus exit 408, off of Interstate 90. Your camping spot is near the road for easy access, but the road is private and dead-ends just beyond my property, so traffic is very minimal. I aim to treat all my guests as if you were a long-time friend. I try to be your personal concierge, so anything you need or want to know, just ask. Unless a highway, rural roads in the area, like mine, are usually gravel. Although well-maintained, the road does get some washboarding due to heavy use. Being on a ridge, a thunderstorm or weather front can make the site quite windy. You will be in the open, without shade or direct privacy, but the tradeoff is really great views.Peaceful and quiet surrounded by lots of wildflowers, wildlife, and the pleasant aroma of sagebrush. Pull-through site

I was able to easily pull through with my 37-ft 5th-wheel. The road to the site can accommodate any size vehicle. Turn-around area is 75 x 85 - it should be no problem for trailers, but a 45-ft motor coach would probably need to back in. The ground is very firm.

ABC, CBS, CW, Fox, NBC, and PBS are available with a boosted antenna. Also, for phone/internet, Verizon is good; AT&T signal is now 5G+ and I can get 345 mbits download.

On leash. Someone must be present at the campsite at all times that a pet is outside. If your pet is not aggressive towards other people, pets, or wildlife, as a courtesy, you may let your pet off of a leash while you can actively watch them. Dogs - Out here, sound can travel for miles - please try to minimize barking, especially from dusk to dawn.

Contained fires for cooking, like grills and propane burners, are fine.

If you don't have a toilet, let me know - I can provide a primitive toilet in a private area.

Great!!

Justin was such a kind and accommodating host! He made us an outdoor toilet, took us on an all-terrain hike around his property, and foraged some wild mint for us to make tea. The view was phenomenal but unfortunately very hazy due to the nearby wildfires. There were some wasps but they weren't unbearable. Justin is very talkative and friendly and provided lots of great tips. He recommended water from a rest stop 10 or so miles down the highway, and I do not recommend that water as someone who is used to California water. Would stay here again!

Stunning mountain views

Justin was an excellent and accommodating host full of all kinds of great information. The mountain views at the site were absolutely stunning. The campsite was easy to get into and out of for our truck and 23 foot trailer. It was quiet and peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we would happily stay again!

One of the best ever

50 ft travel trailer

Justin is the absolute best host. Super knowledgeable of the area, and very accommodating. We arrived with lithium batteries in need of charge and he offered solar panels, batteries and anything else we needed. The views are about as good as it gets (although the smoke from fires north threw a little wrench in the views). Peaceful, quiet and serene. Couldn’t ask for anything more in a Hipcamp site.

Mountain View Campsite!

My friends and I stayed one night at Justin’s and it was so fun!! The view is really amazing, even with the smoke from recent fires. Justin was very communicative throughout the whole process and greeted us on arrival. He showed us around and made sure we had everything we needed. As young people traveling, we all felt comfortable and at home on Justin’s property. He chatted with us and even gave us some sage to take home :) Would definitely recommend any size group, family, friends, etc. to stay at this site!

This was an amazing experience. The responsiveness, courtesy, and stunning visual surroundings made our short visit one of the highlights of our three week long trip. This stop was beautiful. Justin met us as soon as we pulled in. We had the site to ourselves with great views. One of the Nieghbor’s has a donkey but you can barely hear it and it adds to the charm.

Beautiful property and very kind host. There were wild turkeys roaming around and Justin gave us corn to feed them. He welcomed us on arrival and the land was very clean and well kept. Great experience overall, and incredible view of the mountains from the campspot!

Even though somewhat marred by some from northern fires, the views were still beautiful. Very quiet and peaceful. Justin was great, very flexible when a problem with our rv caused us to be a day late. He was very helpful in getting us situated so our camper was level.

Great views, and great host! Justin worked with me when my trip had to be altered due to health and allowed me to flex my stay by a couple days. He’s a fantastic host and will make sure you’re settled and check to see if you need anything. If you’re there in August, be mindful of the potential for wildfires in the mountains, Justin kept apologizing for the smoke covered mountains, but I absolutely loved it. The light was special as the sun set from the smoke, but I love moody sunsets. I love experiencing the outdoors in all its varying degrees.

This site is amazing! The solitude and views are breathtaking. Long ride up on gravel roads with views the entire way. Justin is very welcoming, friendly, and informative. The starry sky is huge and the sunset is right out your front windows.

Absolutely beautiful place to camp! Our host was so responsive and kind. Easy to follow directions, smooth arrival process. The views from our site were perfect. It’s definitely a quiet area so I wouldn’t recommend for loud groups. Voices definitely carry in the mountains so we encouraged our kiddo try to keep the noise down. Would love to stay here again!

Amazing Stay

We had a great 5-star stay at Justin’s Hipcamp! We arrived late and he stayed up to show us to our spot. He was super friendly and kind, gave us info about the surrounding area, and even helped us figure out how to get to our next destination. Really appreciated the hospitality! 10/10 we would come back and recommend him to our friends and family.

Peaceful! Private! Breathtaking!

What an absolutely wonderful campsite we had! Justin met us when we got there and showed us where to go and then left us to get settled. Later, he came down to see if there was anything we needed and gave us a lot of good information about the area. We were there for three nights and he made sure he stopped by a couple times every day to check on us, couldn’t ask for a better host or a better location! The views are tremendous and the night sky was beautiful. Thank you again Justin and forever in your neck of the woods will certainly come back!

Justin was very friendly, showed excellent hospitality, and had a lovely area for us to stay! The view from the site was incredible and the character baked into the land is palpable. There were some cows nearby that were very cool to see as well and this site worked out for us perfectly. Highly recommend!!

Scenic Stay Near Columbus, MT

25 ft Class C

We were driving from Glacier National Park to Yellowstone via Beartooth Pass Highway when it became clear it was getting late and we wouldn’t make it to our planned dispersed campsite. As we exited I-90 into Columbus, we searched for nearby options and found Justin’s place on HipCamp, just 15–20 minutes away. Perfect! After booking, Justin quickly sent us clear directions. His property sits on a ridge with beautiful distant mountain views. Although it was rainy and overcast during our stay, we could still see some of the scenery. Be sure to follow the directions Justin provides. Google Maps worked for us, but it’s best to confirm your route matches his. The road includes a stretch of unpaved driving, but we had no issues in our Class C motorhome towing a Wrangler. Justin was responsive, friendly, and helpful throughout. If we’re ever back in the area, we’d absolutely stay again. Highly recommended!

Justin was extremely friendly and welcoming on our arrival. The views of the Beartooth and Crazy Mountains, especially sunset and sunrise, were spectacular. Justin mowed some paths down the draw on his property to make walking easier. Very cool!
