I went looking for remote, and remote is what I got. This places was absolutely fantastic! I stayed down by the river and had an amazing time. The road down can be a bit rocky but easily doable in just about any vehicle. Lance was a great host and shared a lot of knowledge about the property and surrounding area. I'll definitely be back!!!

I live in a rural area and this is VERY RURAL, and that’s just fine. The hosts are very nice and accommodating. We could have stayed up top but wanted a view of the river so we braved the rustic trail to the secluded river spot. We both had AWD and were glad we did because it was a bumpy ride. However, totally worth it. The site faced west over the river and we got to see deer run across the low river and heard owls and coyotes. It was 100% primitive camping down there but we had brought water and a portable toilet so we were prepared. If you have a vehicle that can make the trek down and you don’t mind primitive and secluded, then this is a spot for you.

We loved tent camping out here on Lance's land, it was beautiful, the woods are lovely and secluded which is exactly what we were looking for. Lance is a wonderful host and very accommodating. We will definitely be back in the future for a longer stay, 5/5 stars!

Awesome property. Loved the freedom to enjoy the land. Road a little rough to the river but that’s what makes it fun. Atv heaven. A little shooting if you like. Lance and Patricia some cool cats. Anyways we roamed into to the town of Linn. Nice place called Ozark View. Golf course swimming pool bar eats and other things. Also went to the town of Belle shot some pool at the local pub good eats. Float was awesome Lance took us up river about 5 miles. Fun getting out at his place a little creek off the river. Love adventures. Welp a must hang out. Plenty of wood to burn.

Unfortunately, we went to the Gasconade following several floods. The river access is a little rough and could be maintained a little better. The campground thrived at one time, but there is a lot of cleaning to do as several people have left a lot of things that are pretty much trash at this point. We were fortunate to have a porta-jon that was relatively new and clean. There was access to water up by the house, but didn't feel comfortable showering at a sketchy framed open spot up near the house. It was very private and quiet, and the dog was good company. We will likely seek out optional places next time though. We love to camp primitive, but not exactly what we were expecting. Fortunately, we were the only ones there, even though the site said there was only one spot left. Nice people, and they did come down to check on us when we got there.

Great place to get away. You can camp next to an open field, go back in the woods or hike down to the river. I like a campfire and the mountain had ample supply. A plus was visits from Zye, the dog. Would definitely come back. Thanks, Lance, for sharing the mountain.

Had a great overnight stay here at Water Mountain this past weekend, and have to say it definitely exceeded my expectations by a long shot! Lance was an amazing host and super accommodating when it came to finding a tent spot and as well as providing plenty of fire wood for the night. Solitude at its finest here at Water Mountain! Will definitely be back for more stays in the future!

Awesome campsite right on the river! The area was secluded and host were very nice. The road to the river campsite is quite rough but if you have a truck you can for sure make it. Will definitely be coming back!

Great place to park to the teardrop. Plenty of space and peacefully quiet.
Was easy to find. A great place for larger groups/multi family camp-outs.
Large clearing surrounded by trees. Took a little bit of leveling, nothing to bad. Clean and maintained.
Looking forward to staying again and exploring the property.

The camp was nice. We were 1 of 3 groups. Everyone was spread out and it was nice. We had generators for our campers and asked the other groups if it was bothering them and they didn't even realize that we had them going. The host was very nice. Gave us directions on where to go. I would advise to bring OFF because it is a field. We found a few seed ticks the first night. After spraying our feet and ankles dis not find anymore. Honestly I spray down even at campgrounds. The hosts dogs are super friendly and come say hello at camp. Our dogs were able to free roam which is always a bonus. Definitely plan on going back for family trip.

Loved tent camping on lance and Patricia’s land! We had a blast and the dogs were absolutely adorable and so kind. We unfortunately were caught in some rain and both lance and Patricia were extremely helpful and kind to check in on us. Lance even mowed our area down a bit more. Highly recommend this spot!

This was just the spot we were looking for. Our party consisted of three adults, 1 child (3), and a dog. Upon arrival, we were met by Lance's friendly partner who informed us of the layout of the land. We found a spot about a half mile from the house, which was easily accessible in my Subaru outback. The campsites are spread out all over the place. Our campsite was secluded, covered in beautiful trees, and was very close to the clean porta potty. Portable water was near the house, so you will have to drive there unless you want to carry 5 gallons of water back to camp. No electricity was available so make sure to bring a generator or portable charging station if that's your thing. We met Lance later in the evening, and that was the last time we talked face to face with the hosts (which I am totally fine with as I enjoy privacy).
The closer you got to the water, the less accessible it became. We made it down there on a four wheeler, but because the water level was so high, you couldn't do much walking around or fishing. This is obviously no fault to the hosts. But I could see this being a good spot to camp once the conditions improve.
Wood was accessible. If it was on the ground and dead, you can burn it. The land is vast and has many trails. We barely scratched the surface in terms of exploring.
In closing, Lance and his partner were a joy to interact with and we are very appreciative that they allowed us to camp on their beautiful property. We felt free, safe, and home.

Lance was a great host!!
I unexpectedly got off work later than usual and I wasn’t expected to arrive until around 930-10pm. Lance greeted me when I arrived and was very gracious, letting me know he had a fire going around his house, that I was more than welcome to join if I wanted. I respectfully declined as I was very tired.
The property and site I stayed at was beautiful with bluffs and great river views! I got some awesome night pics of the river and meteor shower that night and did lots of exploring in the morning before checkout. Definitely would come back again!

Lance is a great host and a friendly person as well. His land is picturesque. The camp spot we chose was down by the river and it was quite a rough road to get back but an adventurous soul will make it just fine. Lance said he loved to share his land for others to enjoy that’s what we liked the most. We will certainly be back

Loved the campsite we utilized, creek on site babbled all night, trails were amazing to hike and explore, and the gasconade river was at the end of trail. There was probably more and will need to come back to see the rest.
We brought our 4x4 and made it where we needed with no problems.
The host greeted us upon entry and their dogs were very friendly.

There are lots of trails but dress accordingly for hiking, these are serious trails and you will get a workout, but you will also see tons of wildlife. I went on a Thursday and had 180 acres all to myself to explore. Don’t forget to bring your camera and a fishing pole you can hike comfortably with.

This is a great place with wonderful host Lance and Patrica. There’s plenty of room on there 180 acres you can camp near the river if you wish they are very relaxed with sharing their property. Definitely stay here and meet Zi and Cole the two most friendly dogs one could expect to meet. This place should be renamed wonderful mountain.

Lance and Patricia are fantastic hosts. Between their hospitality and the beauty of the property, Water Mountain is one of my favorite places to get away. You’re able to pick where you want to camp; whether it’s in the well kept field, or on multiple sites along the trails that lead through the property. I highly recommend checking this place out; and don’t forget a blanket to put down, the night sky is breathtaking!
