Roomy and pretty spot, with horses grazing just across the fence. Host was super friendly and delivered a load of dry wood that made the best campfire we’ve had in a while! We only stayed one night-in and out.

We loved the camping spot and Candida provided us with friendly conversation and fantastic dry firewood. It was private and nice to be near the horses as well.

The field had a tree line easily seen Fire pit and firewood ready. The animals are all friendly and they everyone is great to work with. There is water available but it is really a dry camping location. Self contained is best camping but the place and people are fantastic. We had no complaints. We strung up a hammock and enjoyed the fire, lightening bugs and stars!

Really enjoyed staying here! This is primitive camping in a horse pasture, but the views are great (surrounded by horses and lots of stars on clear nights) and we really enjoyed the amenities. There is a hot tub in a green house, opportunities to feed horses, etc. We found a couple fun swimming holes nearby and enjoyed checking out some nearby roadside attractions like Red Oak.

We stayed at Candida’s for 1 night. The horses and pasture area are beautiful. A table, 2 chairs and fire ring were provided. We got to help with grooming one of the horses during our stay! Candida is very nice and welcoming. My dog had a great time running through the field also.

It’s a very nice property. I think the cost is too high for what is offered. That said, I wasn’t upset about giving $20 to nice people with a lovely property. If I were the owner, I’d try to jazz up the amenities, which would not be a lot of work and then it would be a 5 star location.

This site met our needs perfectly. It's rustic which you would expect from a Hipcamp. There were horses and chicken which were fun to see. We were able to use their hose for free to fill the fresh water tank in our RV. Candida was great with communication. They money goes towards the horse sanctuary which is a good cause. I would definitely recommend staying here!

My husband and our two dogs had a wonderful time pitching our tent this past weekend! We had plenty of space, privacy, and peace. We heard all sorts of birds nearby, our favorite going to bed and rising with the Whippoorwills.

We arrived after dark and so it was a little tricky to find the site, but just follow the listed directions and you’ll end up at a beautiful campsite in a horse paddock.
Horses on both sides of the property, plenty of space to park and camp. Would stay again!
P.s. Some kind of cover for the firewood would be a nice addition as the entire stack of wood was wet, but we made it work.

This was our first experience with Hipcamp and got a great first impression! We had an excellent tenting experience on this property! As country people ourselves we found it refreshing to stay on your farm in our travels. We arrived and were easily able to drive back to the tent site by following the directions sent to us when we booked. The site is at the back of the field far enough away from the buildings to feel private. Would definitely recommend to people who are looking for a private camping experience! Thanks, Candida!

Site is in the back of the large backyard away from people and a fire area is provided. I had no contact with the host and had to search for the outhouse. I am highly allergic to poison ivy so when I finally found the old outhouse I saw no trail and there were weeds as if it hadn’t been used I quite some time. I didn’t go behind the trailer that someone stays in to see if it was usable. I said hello to the animals and walked all the way back and used the toilet I brought with me. Also the road noise can be heard as it is old Route 66 and highly trafficked. If you have an RV and just need a place to park this should be ok but it is through grass and dirt (the backyard/horse field). Also watch where you step as the horses have also used this area.

I had a lovely night on Candida’s land. My trailer was able to sit on the back of a pasture, with a beautiful view of the horses and property. Quiet, private and safe. I built a fire in the fire pit with the complimentary firewood and watched the chickens and horses until bedtime. A great break from a long drive.

We had a great stay! The campsite is rustic (it’s the edge of a field) but easy to get to and conveniently located just off I-44. Candida worked with me to make sure we could fit in a horse lesson despite the heat and the rain. Amanda was really patient with my 7-year-old and he had a great time grooming, feeding, and riding the horses. And the chickens’ eggs are delicious too 😁

We fully enjoyed our stay! We had a kind welcome from the host upon arrival and the site was in a quiet spot in the middle of beautiful nature. We got to feed the horses with carrots and had a friendly talk with a staff member who told us details about the horses.

Water and toilet facilities are a very long walk, through a pasture, from the camp site. The site is in a pasture and unmowed. The toilet is an outhouse with the human waist being deposited on the ground. Water was procured from a house near the toilet and offered from a tenant. We had bikes and were able to ride them to the outhouse through the unmoved pasture. Otherwise it's a long walk through tall grass.

Let me first start by saying I chose this camping site because I love horses. I got to ride one when I was about 10 years old, 40 years later I wish I could ride like the guys on the TV show Yellowstone.
The view is beautiful. The horses grazing in the pasture is picturesque. The fact that Candida rescues these horses from being killed and my money goes to help her take care of them, will keep me coming back out to camp here.
The night sky is beautiful. I haven't seen so many stars in over 40 years.
Thanks Candida for taking care of horses that couldn't/wouldn't be taken care of otherwise, and for providing a little place on your land for people like me to get away from the loud and business of city life.
I'll be back for sure.

I made this reservation early Sunday for a planned Sunday and Monday night stay in the “vintage trailer”. I received a quick response from the host stating that they were out of town unexpectedly and had not remembered to take down their listing. No problem. I just expected a refund of my 30$X2 nights. The host then offered to let me stay in her barn. She runs a force sanctuary. She left very specific instructions regarding how to access clean water, the barn, lights and a mattress. I am from a farming community in the Northeast and thought I knew what I was getting myself into. When I go to the sanctuary, I entered the barn to find a very cluttered space. There was no clean section of barn floor on which to place the mattress. There was a single lightbulb for the large barn. There was no fan and no form of ventilation. There were no windows. The barn doors needed to stay closed to keep the horses out and away from the food. Fortunately one of the volunteers taking care of the horses in the hosts absence arrived within an hour of me and offered to put me up at her place. The host is aware that I did not use her facility and has not contacted me about a potential refund. The vintage trailers referenced in the Hipcamp listing not look habitable at this time. I think the listing is overly optimistic regarding what they are providing.
