Nestled on 100 private acres just minutes from Smithville Lake and only 30–35 minutes from downtown Kansas City, our family property offers a quiet escape into rolling timber, native prairie, cropland, winding creeks, and abundant wildlife. Our family has cared for and enjoyed this land for more than 50 years, and we’re excited to share a small piece of it with guests seeking a peaceful outdoor retreat. The property features mature woods, open fields, two creeks, frequent deer and turkey sightings, and the kind of quiet that’s increasingly hard to find. Guest stays are hosted within thoughtfully designed private retreat spaces situated on secluded portions of the property, offering a peaceful and immersive nature experience while preserving the privacy and character of the surrounding land. Whether you’re looking to unplug for a night, enjoy nearby Smithville Lake, or simply slow down beneath the trees, this is a place designed for rest, simplicity, and connection to the outdoors.Tucked beneath walnut trees and bordered by a seasonal spring-fed creek, this private hand-built cabin is a simple off-grid retreat designed for slowing down. Built from reclaimed and locally sourced materials, the space is best described as elevated camping — rustic, quiet, and intentionally unplugged. The retreat includes: The Cabin & Coffee Deck An 80 sq ft sleeping cabin with a full-size bed and basic battery-powered lighting. Attached is a covered outdoor bar with seating, a simple camp coffee setup, sink, and wooded views. The Hammock Pavilion A covered deck built from timber harvested on-site and topped with reclaimed barn tin — perfect for reading, napping, or relaxing. The Bath House A private composting toilet and simple hand-washing station. You’ll also enjoy a firepit area, outdoor seating, and your own peaceful woodland setting. Guest Access Guests have private access to the entire retreat shown in the listing, including all structures and outdoor spaces. The area is never shared with other guests. Please Read Before Booking This is a true off-grid stay with intentionally minimal amenities. Limited battery-powered lighting Camp-style manual water systems No Wi-Fi (cell service for most) No refrigeration (bring a cooler with ice) No shower No traditional heat or AC The full-size mattress, pillows, fitted sheet, and pillowcases are provided. Guests should bring their own top blankets or sleeping bags appropriate for the season. Parking varies depending on recent weather. In dry conditions, parking is typically near the retreat. After heavier rain, parking may be 100–200 yards away to protect the property. A wagon is provided for transporting supplies. Access includes stairs and uneven natural terrain, so guests should be comfortable navigating outdoor spaces. This retreat is ideal for guests who value quiet, nature, craftsmanship, and rustic simplicity over polished luxury or full modern convenience.
