My Grandpa grew up in West Virginia and was drafted into the Army in 1952.  He was stationed here at Fort Leonard Wood. During that time, he met a feisty young woman in the small town of Buckhorn and fell in love. Shortly after, they were married. They purchased this property and established a home and life together.  My Grandma has since passed on. The memories are endless of me, her, and Pop mushroom hunting this property. Picking blackberries, flowers, polk greens, and watching the fireflies in the field. Catching bluegill and catfish out of the lake they built 18 years ago. They gifted my sisters and I each 3 acres of property. I purchased two of my sisters plots in 2016 and have been establishing my own life and home after my divorce. Im so blessed and proud of my little corner of heaven and would love to share my blessings with you! Learn more about this land: A cute, private, and discreet corner of the World. Nestled in the woods...the site has a shaded, grassy field alongside a three acre woodlot with mature oak, hickory, and walnut trees. Lots of wildlife reside in the area, so don't mind the deer hanging around to see what you're doing. They're kinda nosy.🤷😁 Get in the boat and paddle out in the middle of the small lake full of bluegill, bass, as well as crappie and catfish. Although, I can't seem to catch a catfish out of there! The lake is on a walking trail only five minutes from your campsite. The beautiful Gasconade river is a driving distance of less than 10 minutes down the road with a public access providing all sorts of water activities. The small town of Buckhorn is just up the road with a gas station providing food, drinks, and air. Fort Leonard Wood Army base is 25 minutes away and has a couple of recreational areas outside of base which one is at The Lake of the Ozarks, within an hour drive North of here. My corner is about half a mile from I-44 interstate, therefore you will here some traffic noise. It's not as bad in the Summer when the leaves are on trees. Bring your own tents and chairs and please, enjoy yourselves and my corner of the World! . . AN IN GROUND STORM SHELTER IS AVAILABLE ON THE PROPERTY AS WELL

This was my first experience with Hipcamp and I could not be happier! Shelly's site had tons of room to camp and she even supplied some suoer dry wood for a campfire! She offered coffee in the morning and was a garcious host. I would absolutley recommended her spot for camping as its a great deal!
