A beautiful glamping setup that walks the line between luxurious and peaceful. Kind folks running the place, friendly dogs running around, and beautiful open skies. What more could you ask for?

Great spot. Darrell was great. Peaceful, quiet, beautiful views. I had never hipcamped before and was concerned about randomly going on someone else’s property, felt super comfortable.

Very quiet campsite Have stayed here several times and this host keeps improving on the experience! Even in the secluded forest campsite there is now a privy that helps make camping a bit more enjoyable.

Stayed at the Secluded Forest campsite...very quiet, super clean campsite. Hosts were super welcoming. Lots of open space in the adjoining field for the dogs to run around in before we settled in for the evening. Greatly appreciated having a picnic table and a big stash of firewood for the evening. Will definitely return and will give one of the other campsites a try next time.

Lots of privacy at Darrell's place. He was super nice as well and invited us to a grape harvest. We stayed at secluded forest and walked over to visit sunrise and sunset. All lovely places to spend the weekend. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

This was an amazing experience. The hosts are so warm. It was harvest time for some of the grapes so there was great energy around. I stayed at sunrise, which is in a large clearing atop Monarch Hill. Easy to get in and out and plenty of room. Fire pit and a picnic table. The barn has water and a shower with on-demand hot water. Definitely will go again.

Beautiful rolling countryside with views of vineyards, and Missouri farmland. Diverse property with a mixture of woods, pasture, vineyards and a pond. There are also well maintained hiking paths throughout the property. Hidden finds include an old barn with a private outdoor shower (which was heated). If you search hard enough you’ll find various mushrooms, views of a country church and other meandering trails. Our site was the pond seclusion. It was very private with views of the moon, stars and beautiful sunrise. The light morning rain welcomed us with a full rainbow. The port a potty was very clean and stocked. Darrell and family were extremely helpful and wonderful hosts. They brought us firewood and even invited for lunch the next day. An added bonus was picking grapes for the fall harvest which was a lot of fun. Nothing but good vibes and positivity from the whole experience. We can’t wait to visit again.

The location is a great getaway and very beautiful! You will have plenty of space and can explore the paths on the property. Very close to Hawn State Park and Chaumette and Charleville Breweries and Wineries. Outdoor shower with hot and cold water is fantastic! Darrell was also very friendly and accommodating. This location is also RV or trailer friendly. For reference we pulled in a 30 ft. Need to take it slow though! Thank you Darrell. We will be back someday!

Absolutely stunning property. Probably the best hipcamp we've been to and we've camped at a lot.
We were greeted by Darrell when we pulled in and he introduced us to his entire family -- which was just so welcoming. The property is I believe 81 acres and superb for taking leisurely sunset walks, running your pups, and the stargazing was just out of this world. Phenomenal property and hosts.

Monarch Hill was a wonderful place to stay! The property and tent sites are beautiful and Darrell and family were fantastic hosts! They were so accommodating and helped us with many small requests. I highly recommend this stay!!!

Darrell and his family are spectacular hosts. When we arrived they escorted us to our camp site and made sure we had everything we needed. We stayed at #11. It is a really big site on a gentle hill. They provided a picnic table, fire ring and a generous basket of firewood. The campsites are huge and you are not close to other guests. The sites are in a field and they have mowed a large area at each site. They also mowed a path around the entire property for walking or biking. They offer a variety of extras for purchase. We bought firewood, locally produced sausage and cheese and their in house smoked salmon. Everything was so good. Our stay was during the eclipse. There were other guests invited and special activities but Darrell, his family and dogs still made time to checked in with us every day and are very friendly and accommodating.

Darrel and his wife Gina were incredibly gracious hosts. We threw our daughter a birthday party during the solar eclipse 4/8/16. Darrell and his crew had the camps so spread out we couldn’t hear our neighbors- delivered wood when we needed and had super clean porta-bathrooms available. The sites are manicured and flat. All are well spread out with picnic tables, fire rings and anything else available you could need. We would love to come back!!!

Great trip! Darrell and his family were so helpful and friendly. They did a great job managing all the campers there for the eclipse and provided everything needed for a comfortable stay. It also felt private and peaceful. Would absolutely stay again.

This was a fantastic space. All the sites looked great but we picked "forest seclusion." Site had all the basics and what we needed (table, fire pit) and D also provided eggs for breakfast. Would definitely come again, and the area has so much awesome stuff nearby. Did hikes at St. Francois and Pickle Springs Natural Area. Highly recommend!

Forest Seclusion
Beautiful and peaceful spot near Ste. Genevieve. Might be helpful to have a vehicle with high clearance to drive down to the Forest Seclusion site. We have a small Nissan camper van and were fine but definitely took it slow. The Sunset and Sunrise sites are beautiful and would be perfect for a group. We hope to camp with friends next time and will book the hilltop, for sure. Darrell would have provided a compost toilet, but we brought our own set up. He was chatty and friendly!!

10/10 experience, I have no notes. Darrell & crew are amazing people and they did everything possible to make our stay more enjoyable. Aside from having wonderful hosts, the campsite is GORGEOUS and well maintained, with lots of areas to explore for those that enjoy rural, farm-y vibes. Would absolutely recommend Monarch Hill to the adventurous, looking for a great, off-grid campsite.

Darrell and Gina were the most gracious hosts, and the vineyard is beautiful! We stayed at the pond side seclusion site and our dog loved the water. We purchased fresh milk and eggs which were delicious. Sainte Genevieve is a beautiful gem, full of rivers, state parks close by, and plenty of breweries/wineries to enjoy.

Monarch Hill Vineyard.
Darrell and Jeanna were wonderful hosts! They went above and beyond to make our stay as special as possible. The property itself is breathtaking and makes for a great camping spot with few bugs and stunning sunsets. My boyfriend and I highly recommend the vineyard tour; we learned so much about the grape growing process and had a great time getting to know Darrell and Jeanna. We also loved meeting their adorable dogs and beautiful horses. Cannot recommend Monarch Hill Vineyard enough and can’t wait to visit again!

Such a relaxing place to camp. Far superior to the local park campgrounds. Gorgeous sunrise and sunsets, super quiet, and picture-perfect views of the vineyards and rolling hills. Darrell was a wonderful host. He's truly such a nice guy. And the location can't be beat. Close to hiking, wineries, and charming Ste. Genevieve. We would definitely camp here again. Book now! You won't be disappointed.

Monarch Hill Vineyard.
Camping here was amazing! Darrell was easy to talk to, and he made sure I had everything I needed. I was able to hike around the beautiful landscape and see where the grapes are grown. The forest campsite is surrounded by thick trees, so you feel like you're the only one out there. The hilltop campsites come with a wonderful view. I'd definitely recommend this stay for anyone looking to get away.

I loved tent camping in the secluded forest spot! It was private but easy to get to with some nice walking trails along the pasture. It was perfect for me and my dog to get some time with nature.

This place is magical. Darrell was just amazing. This place was just amazing. The view is like a Bob Ross painting. I thought watching the sun set was going to be a highlight of the night then the fields lite up with fireflies for the nights we were there.

It's a nice weekend getaway if you're in St. Louis. It's the ideal set up if you have four couples/families looking for a secluded spot to yourselves with running room. Otherwise, the sites are as close together as a typical campground, and there is a possibility of being at the mercy of your neighbors in terms of peace (I personally had to listen to a couple next to me getting enthusiastically frisky, but, while loud, I've heard songs that lasted longer than those shenanigans). The host Darrell is about as cool/chill as it gets, and I recommend the vineyard tour.
