We have three designated drive up campsites out in an open pasture with firepits and picnic tables. Our property is very secluded, kind of a hollow on the corner of an immense forested area, so you are welcome to "camp wild" anywhere on the 27 acres, you just have to tote your stuff. You can even camp creekside if you'd like, we just need to keep an eye on the weather!

The Lady Asha Yurt/Treehouse!

99%
(113)
Bell tent · Sleeps 6
Experience an authentic and rustic, secluded glamping experience on a beautiful Farm Animal Sanctuary with horses, donkeys, sheep, goats and potbellied pigs grazing beneath you. A true animal lover's heaven on earth. We named this The Lady Asha Yurt/Treehouse after a beautiful soul that we adopted from Longmeadow Rescue Ranch here in Franklin County in July of 2019 when we first decided to go for it and become an official sanctuary.  We adopted their 2 most elderly horses, Quincy and Lady Asha.  Quincy is still here with us and we think he is about 40 years old, very old for a horse.  Lady Asha was loved and spoiled by us for 14 months and we want our first glamping site to be in her honor and memory. This site is an elevated platform amongst the trees with a 16 foot around by 10 foot tall bell tent. There are 2 full size futons with mattresses and linens and pillows, and a queen size air mattress available and a child cot available as necessary. All linens are provided. The yurt is also furnished with a table, chairs and floor cushions for eating and game playing.   PLEASE NOTE:  The listing says 4 people, with 3 additional people and 2 vehicles allowed.  If you have more than 4 people, we provide a tent at the same site, as 7 people cannot sleep comfortably inside the yurt unless you are 2 adults with small children.  We would like to make the Lady Asha available to larger families, so we've found that providing a tent for children to sleep in has been a fun solution.  The tent is about 100 yards from the yurt platform. Situated on our 27 acre farmstead, the camping area is a separate entrance away from the host residence, boasting abundant trees and a year round creek, wildflowers, bird watching opportunities, hummingbirds galore, free range chickens, ducks and geese, and 2 turkeys! Each evening, listen to the coyotes howl, the owls hoot, turkeys gobble, crickets chirp, and frogs croak.  There are paths cut through the pastures for walking, and the kids can ride their mountain bikes if they like.  There is a well marked hiking trail around the edge of the property for those who would like a little more of a challenge. There is an electric fireplace in the yurt so this can also be used during the cooler months, or year round for the hardy souls! There is also an outlet and a large fan for the warmer months. The front porch has a cafe table and chairs. Also a table for preparing food. There is a weber grill cooking, you will have to bring your own charcoal and lighter fluid. There is also a larger fire pit in front of the yurt platform with two camping chairs, and a picnic table. You may also use the large bonfire pit if you prefer. We've also added a 4 in one electric griddle/panini press for ease of cooking. There will be a strict check-out time of 12 noon for this listing, with check-in after 2 pm. Please keep in mind that the front platform of the yurt is 5 feet off the ground and railings are not sufficient to prevent young children from falling. A 4 wheel drive vehicle is recommended to get to this listing, but usually 2 wheel drive is sufficient. There is a small creek bed to cross. You can also just park in the lower pasture and we can help bring your gear to the yurt. In really wet or muddy weather you will need to park down there. We also have 6 tent or drive up vehicle campsites, so you may be sharing the farm with other guests, but this listing is very secluded from the others. Other things to note: Please read the listing thoroughly. The animals are all very friendly, but they are animals and unpredictable.  There are also very large animals and it's easy to get stepped on.  Appropriate footwear is recommended.  If for ANY reason ANYONE feels unsafe with any of the animals, we have areas to separate them from the campers.  PLEASE do not hesitate to let your hosts know if you have any concerns.  You can communicate with us through the Hipcamp communication number, or if we aren't outside there is a side door with solar lights and a sign and you can knock on that door. With the gates, the rule is if it's open, please leave it open, or if it's closed, please close it behind you.  If an animal escapes, please just let me know as soon as possible but be assured, it isn't the first time!! We have a very friendly lab mix (?) named Tie Dye who greets visitors with me.  He is used to greeting other dogs.  We have 2 other dogs, Annie is a white American Bulldog mix and barks ALOT.  She is also very friendly, but we try to only let one dog out a time because they sometimes get a pack mentality around other dogs so we are very careful.  Chloe is brown and is Tie Dye's sister.  All the dogs are friendly with humans. "WARNING Under Missouri state law, there is limited liability for an injury to or death of a participant in an agritourism activity conducted at this agritourism location if such an injury or death results exclusively from the inherent risks of the agritourism activity. You are assuming the risk of participating in this agritourism activity." Creek and trees pose a risk for young children, participate at your own risk. Adult supervision is required at all times. Our property does include a well defined portion of the creek with some deep areas. We stock bug spray to repel insects. Tent is equipped with bug spray for your convenience. We have delicious well water from a hose at the barn, its safety has been tested by the county.  We provide a compostable porta potty.  Bags are provided, place the bag over the toilet seat, do your thing, add a scoop of wood shavings, also provided, tie your bag and place in the trash receptacle.  Sanitizers, spray and wipes are all provided. Please let us know if we've missed anything, and if there is anything we can improve. Enjoy, and above all, "Today, whatever is good for your soul, do that."
