We had a good time camping here it was peaceful and pretty despite an overnight storm it was still a good time. We would go here again.

Excellent CheckIn/Out Flexibility

While we encountered umpteen travel delays from Houston through Baton Rouge (even skipped New Orleans to save time) up to Mississippi, having that late check-in option saved our hides. We squeaked in at just before midnight and ultimately opted to skip our full external setup since it had been raining non-stop (slept in the Bronco instead), but I definitely hope we can make it back sometime to stay a few days and enjoy the gorgeous fishing pond and the location in general. I sat on the covered porch behind the office/shower building for a good while the following morning just to listen to all manner of birdsong and take in the scenery. We opted to add late checkout en route to compensate for our extra late arrival, and that was super helpful to allow adequate time to use our shower pass and get resituated for the next leg of our road tripping adventure. While we didn't get the full experience due to our tight travel schedule, I can still highly recommend camping here, esp. since they're so flexible with arrival/departure options to fit many scenarios. A+++

Peaceful, green and flat

Sweet spot between the Big Black River and the tracks, sufficiently far away to provide a pleasant chugging sound. We enjoyed coffee on the deck by the natural lake and appreciated the hot shower.

Vicksburg Base Camp

Great stop for camping. Small park - dozen or so sites - Scott is excellent host, hard working guy keeping a secure well manicured campground. A full bathroom available with HOT water - very clean, very convenient. Typical road noise, as Hwy 20 nearby, settles down at night. Usual RV lanes, but if you are tent camping - THIS IS THE PLACE! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We pitched our tent on a covered pad (#5 ?) next to Scott’s fish pond - excellent spot - Thanks for the hospitality!!

Peace, Space, and a Happy Dog

After several days on the road, I pulled into Black River completely worn out and overstimulated—just looking for somewhere to hide out and decompress. This place was exactly what the doctor ordered. Scott was a fantastic host, and the site itself is private and peaceful. If you're someone who needs quiet to recharge, this is your spot. The real bonus for me was the huge open field. My dog was able to run, play, and burn off days' worth of pent-up road-trip energy—which meant we both slept well that night. I wasn't able to take advantage of the fishing this trip, but the river is right there and the opportunity is outstanding if that's your thing. There are also hiking trails through the woods if you want to explore. Honestly, this place checked every box. Private, quiet, dog-friendly, with water access and trails if you want them—or just peace and space if you don't. Definitely one of the top spots on my list for a return visit. Thanks, Scott.

Smooth Experience - Excellent Host

Awesome host! Sometimes when you pull up late at night, you never know what you’re going to find. Scott was there to greet us and do everything he could to make sure we were comfortable. It was cold, rainy and he went above and beyond.The directions were easy and helpful. The campsite was incredibly spacious, easy to pull through and hookup to electric/water. No issues whatsoever and very simple to do yourself and in the dark which is why Scott’s assistance was even more notable. We would stay again and would recommend!

What an amazing campsite. Scott, the host, was incredible and super friendly and knowledgable. There is a beautiful lake on site where campers can fish and hike, and the place is super clean, quiet, and secluded. The amenities are super clean and pleasant. Overall, a great experience. I will definitely come back and visit Scott and his campsite.

Scott was very respectful, and we felt safe at Black River Campsite. He was very committed to making the camping experience a good one. The road coming in is a bit bumpy and tough in a vehicle with low ground clearance, but not impossible. Just gotta take it slow. The site was perfectly level and good for a car camper. Showers were awesome, warm, and he keeps things very clean! Gorgeous views too and nice little hiking trails, fishing spots.

This was our first time at a HIPCAMP campground. The site was great! Big and flat with nice views of the cornfields. It rained the whole time we were there so the dirt road to the campground was very muddy. The storm knocked out the electricity not long after we got there and we spent the night without electricity and the next morning, the water we were hooked up to, ran out of water.🙅‍♀️
