This was camping in style-Hot showers, microwave, great kitchen (outdoor) with everything! All super clean and well decorated. A unique experience.

Old blue cottage and bath house
Great place to stay!
What a wonderful place to stay! Comfortable beds, everything you need provided, even firewood! The property is lovely and it was a short drive to hike at Banning State Park. Deborah was extremely welcoming and helpful, there was a mix up with our booking that was no fault on her part and yet she really went out of her way to help us! Most places wouldn’t do that. I would highly recommend staying here!
Just fyi there is no wifi at Old Blue. The listing says “Wi-Fi available”, but it’s not available in the cabin. Our kids had virtual appointments to attend while we were there but we were able to do them from a different cabin so it worked out, just not what we were expecting.

Tenting without hassle!
If you like to camp in a tent this is as good as it gets! Everything you need is provided and already set up. Very comfortable bed and beautiful setting with your own little pond. There's a bathroom with water to wash with and a cooler, chairs and lanterns provided. The fire pit is sturdy and they provide plenty of wood and kindling. Very satisfied!

My boyfriend and our pup camped there on a chilly weekend in October. We enjoyed it a lot. Having firewood there and ready was very convenient. It’s a beautiful spot, will be back in the summer!

Little wooded retreat
I want to preempt this review by noting that I'm a longtime Hipcamp user, and have only written positive reviews. This isn't one.
I booked the Little wooded retreat and arrived in the afternoon. The cottage was as advertised—small and no-frills—but it and the site (firepit, picnic table) were roughly 20 feet from the main house, and as I built a fire to sit and read, I found myself making eye contact with a next door neighbor, who spent the following hour working in a nearby garage. I use Hipcamp—as opposed to public campgrounds and state parks—for the privacy, seclusion and peace. This site offered none.
A couple staying in the nearby Blue cottage were inexplicably watching something at a high volume on some kind of device, which made it difficult to concentrate on anything. This was obviously not the host's fault; I mention only to illustrate such close proximity.
Then two people arrived at the main house and were having a conversation out in the driveway—not far from where I was sitting out in the open. Ultimately, I felt intrusive and foolish, a grown man "camping" in somebody's yard.
I quietly packed everything back up, and drove the hour+ home in the dark.
To host Deborah's credit, the site was basically as advertised (with the exception of the "amazingly quiet [and] peaceful" setting), and after I voiced my concerns the following day, she did try (but was unable) to provide a refund. In the end, I was out $174.76 + gas money.

Little wooded retreat
It was perfect for what I needed. It was a solo trip with no frills. I loved how they had stuff for me like firewood, bedding and even heat/fan! It was a step up from tent camping which is what I wanted.

Heavenly escape
This place was a heavenly escape. Only an hour from the cities, the private pond, the warm lantern lights, and a SUPER comfy bed! We loved sleeping surrounded by the fresh air and waking up to trees. Also pretty amazing that they had a toilet at the site.

I liked the tranquil setting. Small conveniences like can opener, soap, outlets to charge phones, etc. were appreciated. Having firewood available for campfires was a plus too.

Spring Retreat
My wife and I had a lovely time! We brought our two dogs and spent the weekend completely unplugged…reading, listening to music, playing games and sitting around the campfire. Such a cute place and fantastic time!

Old Blue was the perfect place for my husband and i and the pups! We explored state parks during the day and would unwind with a campfire out back in the evenings. The bathhouse was nice and clean! The space was private. We would stay here again.

Beautiful and Breathtaking
Our first hipcamp experience for a quick girls getaway was perfect. Deborah was very responsive to all our questions during our stay and made sure we were nicely accommodated. The Ol Blue cottage was such a fun experience. The cottage was clean, beautiful, and quaint. The property was so beautiful surrounded by trees, especially during fall when the colors are changing. We both definitely will come back again.

Cute Cottage, Sweet Couple
“Old Blue” as Deborah likes to call it is a cozy, little cottage in the middle of the woods. This was my boyfriend and I’s first weekend get away as a couple - and we loved every moment of it. Yes the cottage is small but it has a lot of heart into it.
After exploring Duluth which is just a little over an hour away we returned and met Deborah and her husband. We were warmly invited to join the two of them at a bonfire. We enjoyed hearing their stories.
The morning we headed back home we received breakfast at no additional charge. It was delicious and came in such a cute pot! My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back in the near future! Thank you to the both of you!
