Stephen was a great host. We made a scheduling error and he worked hard to accommodate us. Peaceful beautiful property, nearby amazing nature parks and quaint town of Northfield. It was just the solitude and time away we needed.

Lots to see and do close by!

Stephen’s place is beautiful! Trails right from the campsites into Caron park which has a lovely little waterfall. I hope to go back and see it in the spring. Historic towns, biking trails, and state parks close by. Campsites were great, outhouse was clean and convenient. We stayed in site 2. Loved it!

Amazing spot!

This was our second time at this site. The privacy is great. Being right on the creek is something you don't get at most places. The trails connecting to the campground are fun to walk and explore. You have waterfalls, the split rock and many other things to see. Our dog loves it here as well. We'll definitely be back next year.

Time well spent in nature

I spent 2 beautiful nights here. Stephen is very helpful in making sure any questions are answered and making sure you’re settled in. The sites are private feeling and next to Caron Park. I got a couple hikes in and just enjoyed the peaceful nature sounds. It was my first time camping by myself and I really found out how wonderful it is to disconnect from social media. I will definitely be back.

Great little campsite nested in a lovely homestead property! Beautiful little waterfall. Went here to soak in some silence and definitely could. Very little traffic noise if any at all. Had some neighbors but still felt very private and tucked away in the trees. Trails were easy to follow and were very beautiful. A big thanks to the hosts!

Site 3 was wonderful and immersed in nature. Caretakers were wonderful and accommodating! Everything was accessible and larger towns were 15 minutes away or less. Highly would recommend!!

I stayed at campsite #3 and absolutely loved it! The creek provided such relaxing white noise and was so peaceful. The site is pretty decently sized and felt very private. The grounds were kept really nicely and loved that we were able to cut through the owners yard to get to the waterfall and split rock. Definitely make sure to take a picture of the trails on the shed before going though! I checked out all the sites when I was there and I think they are all pretty great, but #3 was the best in my opinion, because of the creek. It’s not far from town if you want to go out and explore or get supplies. I’d definitely recommend booking here!

I really love visiting Prairie Creek campground. The owner is very nice and site 3 is my ultimate favorite place in Minnesota. I enjoy the sound of the creek at night and at sunrise. All of Prairie Creek campground sites are spacious.. It's also not that far from the City of Faribault.

We had a lovely weekend at site 1 despite some rain. Hosts were friendly and helpful but not overbearing. They have taken a lot of care to create this small camp ground with all the amenities you need. Loved being able to have our well behaved dogs off leash instead of having to constantly untangle their tie outs. Sadly due to the rain we didn't get a chance to hike on the property but we will certainly be coming back! We live in the Twin Cities so it was a quick drive for us but still felt very secluded. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. No cell phone service (my personal favourite).

Site 3 is definitely the best among all of the sites. Beautiful. Hearing the stream at night is very nice. Flat tent pad and a good amount of room to move around. Very highly recommended.

We've camped here multiple times and love it. With an hour drive from the city to a nice secluded retreat on a creek, it makes for a perfect quick getaway, even for 1 night!

We had a very nice time at this campsite! It is such a hidden gem. The dogs loved running around and sniffing all the trees. The waterfall was super gorgeous and Kona loved swimming in it to fetch sticks! The outhouse was very clean and taken care of with a handy hand washing station as well. The site was well taken care of, lots of room for a tent, chairs, canopy, and hammocks! The woods made it nice and cool on a hot summer day. Highly recommend. Stephen was very responsive and so accommodating, such a nice guy too!

Little gem 1 hour from Twin Cities

Another great stay at this site! It’s rare to find such a private, cozy site in a mature forest with creek access and walking trails at your doorstep - all within 1 hour of the Twin Cities! The site had everything we needed - a picnic table, fire pit, grilling grate, and nearby, a pit toilet with hand washing station and pump water. The sites are walk-in but at sites 1-3 there’s a convenient wagon to help haul gear in/out for the short walk. (I like not having the car right at the site). Sites 1 and 3 are next to the creek, site 2 is nestled in the woods, and site 4 was very private up on a hilltop. You can’t go wrong with any of them! We heard coyotes and owls in the night, and by day we could walk the many neighborhood trails - or visit the state park. Stephen and his wife were on-site and were friendly and welcoming hosts. This truly is a lovely spot for an easy getaway for a night, or several. :)

Prairie Creek Split Rock

We had a wonderful experience at this campsite. It's clear Stephen takes great care of his land and enjoys sharing it with campers. It was nice to be able to walk straight over to the county park next door and enjoy the creek and an easy drive to the state park down the road. My friends with 2 wheel drive had a little difficulty making it up the hill to the site 4 parking, but I had no trouble with my AWD. Highly recommend and will likely be back soon.

I was the only person at the camp this past Sunday (8/24), and I needed the solitude! I enjoyed hiking in Caron park, and the birding was excellent. Specifically, fall migration is picking up, and there were an OVERSTIMULATING number of warblers in the woods! Barred owls kept me company all night, and I found a family of pileated woodpeckers in Caron. There were wood thrushes bathing in the creek and a winter wren singing by the road. In terms of other wildlife, sites are clean, but make sure you store your food properly at night; I spotted a raccoon and an opossum in the area. The campsites are easy to find with the directions included. I stayed at site #2, which was nice and dark because of the dense forest that hugs it. As should be expected for the area, there is a big glow of light pollution from the cities in the distance, plus noise pollution from planes landing at MSP. But if you're passing through like I was, it's worth stopping here! Road noise is very minimal through the night. The drive is nice and roads are decent, even in unpaved sections. The driveway is also fairly well-maintained. I had no issues reaching my destination in my 2010 Corolla.

Private site right on the creek and it was nice having a cart for our stuff. Trails to explore and we loved the split rock and waterfall. Host greeted us and answered any questions we had. Would camp here again.

We loved the location and the trails to explore from the site. Lots of space and privacy at the site. Nice to be able to see and hear the creek. We did have mud to deal with at the site that made everything messy, especially with a dog. When we got home everything was covered in mud and needed a good rinse. Other than that it was great!
