Nancy & Kal are warm & welcoming. The weekend we spent camping at their eclectic & beautiful farm was a peaceful & lovely break from city life. The loons were calling in the evening. Visiting Kal’s studio is a special treat!

•BRING TENNIS SHOES (not just sandals) you’ll be glad ya did for bugs and a lil uneven ground in areas.
•we stayed at the most private site and it was a tad difficult to find flat ground for our tents, but after a little walking we did and slept well👍🏼a little mattress under you when you sleep really helps with that in my opinion.
No complaints really! Just make sure your fire pit is clean before trying to start a fire else it might not burn well. I know the hosts try to keep them very clean, but the people before us left a good amount of garbage (glass and bottle caps mostly?) in ours that wasn’t super visible so just check before building a fire)

Welcome ! Pioneer Farm @ Fish Lake
I tent camped for one night in the back meadow. Great location, very peaceful. They brought two 5 gallons buckets of water in case I needed to put out a campfire. I saw several hawks in the morning.

I feel this place is the best if you really want to get away from it all , but not too far and go back to the basics of camping. We were privileged with very beautiful views and Kal and her art are awesome 🤗

This was a beautiful place to be. The ‘duplex’ is closest to the road, but we had the chance to walk around and explore the area, which made it a peaceful and quiet experience. Nancy and Kal were also kind, amazing hosts. I’d highly recommend, plus we’ll be back.

Host we're very communicative and responded quickly. We originally booked the Lav and Lounge last for a last minute get away and they contacted us that the electric wasn't working in that one and switched us to the pop up. It was great and they provided a small space heater for this time of year. Very quite and private. Just what we needed.

Nancy's land was absolutely magical. From the stunning art in the studio (bought a fabulous pair of earrings) to the beauty that was the lake. My friend and I felt so welcomed and safe to explore and enjoy their property! I absolutely recommend a stay here.

The LAV & LOUNGE
Nancy & Kal are amazing people, very gracious & welcoming hosts. Their property is lovely & well maintained. Kal's studio is anazing. The camper needs a lil bit of TLC though, no working shower or locking front door. The fridge did work and the toilet was usable & we were provided a fan for the heat. Also, the dock & lake is across the street from the site, it is not situated by the site itself as we originally thought & was definitely not a swimming area. But there was a nice beach on Fish lake itself about a 3 minute drive away. Other than that, my kiddos enjoyed it & wanted to stay another night but due to unforseen circumstances we sadly could not stay. Thank you.

The LAV & LOUNGE
Had a great night staying at the farm. Lovely farm and lovely people. Nice to be able to walk to the beach down the road. Slept in the small Rv. Nice to have shelter when the rain showed up. Beautiful large tree helped create some shade and really nice to have a fire pit and small table to cook on. Over all a great evening, close to the cities. Would definitely recommend.

It depends completely on what one is looking for. This place is very basic. The gas stove does not work, nor does the ac, but the lights and outlets do, and there is a working fridge with small freezer. The toilet is a "pour your own flush." The bed is quite narrow for 2 older adults. The mattress is not comfy, which we did not think of until we were actually laying on it and it felt like it was too late to be seeing if there might be some kind of topper. The hosts are pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed the frogs and toads that hop about and under the trailer as well as the loon and other bird calls, and the privacy. The fire pit is lovely and was our favorite spot. We were only there for one night, so did not get a chance to tour the interesting historical farm buildings. So all in all I would say it was okay in some ways and lovely in others.

Nancy and Kal were welcoming, kind, and helpful! The land is beautiful and the closeness to the lovely beach at Fish Lake is a huge plus. Be sure to stop into Kal’s beautiful glass art studio as well! We’ll certainly be back.

Nancy and Karl are the sweetest ladies ever they have a beautiful property a little out the way but not a far drive at all if you do plan on doing other events. My fiancée and I had a wonderful time and already are planning to come back. They are also expanding and adding features! If you get the chance also check out Kals art studio/shop the glass work she does is beautiful.

Nancy and Kalli were so nice and we really enjoyed our stay. The camper was secluded and kept us dry during a thunderstorm. Lots of frogs around, a firepit for us to use, and super close to the lake! Our 4 year old and pup had a blast. Everything was simple and easy, just what we wanted for our first Hipcamp experience.
Be sure to check out the garden and Kalli's art while you're there too!

We had a delightful time staying the weekend with Nancy and Kal. They made sure we had everything we needed. Because no one else was staying that weekend we had a choice between the RV and the pop up and chose the pop up for a little extra sleeping space.
Traveling to small, rural towns as a couple of queer/trans folk can sometimes be a bit stressful but Nancy and Kal are a slice of refreshing open-minded peace out in the country. We felt very at home there.
We loved chatting with them but also found plenty of privacy at our camp too. Kal has a fused glass shop that was also fun to check out.
The mosquitos were a bit nasty (bring bug spray!), especially considering there's been a lot of rain lately and it can get swampy in some areas. But they were not too bad right up by the house and certainly didn't deter us from having an excellent time.
We had fun swimming in the lake and listening to the loons, owls, and frogs at night. There are fireflies and so many bird species! So beautiful. We very much hope to come back the next time we need an escape from the city.

On short notice I needed an escape from MN and the city, Pioneer farm and its owners were so kind and wonderful having me and my pup Mowgli- even better we had incredible Northern Lights and I couldn't have imagined a better place to enjoy them!

Nancy and Kal were amazing and attentive hosts! Their land is so peaceful and the camper where we slept was perfectly situated. We also really enjoyed canoeing and seeing Kal’s beautiful artwork. We’re already talking about returning for a longer stay. Highly recommend!

We stayed here previously and it was wonderful they welcomed us and offered to eat off the land many vegetables We were so touched, so we returned two weeks later and their was a shift I picked some grape tomatoes on front of the host she smiled and said wonderful shortly after her partner and her confronted us very aggressively I cried it was so odd a shift and she lied about letting us eat the tomatoes grape tomatoes . Be careful here I am still confused by the shift still texting me about a handful of grape tomatoes 3 days later. I had to block her .We adored this place but we became uneasy and afraid. They lie don’t go

The LAV & LOUNGE
Kal and Nancy were great hosts. Lovely little farm near the water with lots of paths cut through the acreage to enjoy the scenery. Walk across the road to the lake for a bit of dock fishing or swimming. Perfect place to launch a paddleboard if you like that sort of thing. Be sure to ask Kal to see her art studio and meet their sweet dogs. Highlights of the trip.

I immediately felt relaxed the moment I stepped out of my car. This is not just camping it is an oasis of peace nature and culture. I will go back here as much as I can. This was such a sweet, relaxing, and eclectic oasis. We biked (bicycles) in from St. Paul and found Pioneer Farm to be a perfect spot to recharge before our ride back home. Fish Lake was clear and great for swimming (if you can deal with some fresh water plants tickling your toes). Nancy and Kal were such wonderful hosts (and Zora and Bodhi). We hope to be back!

It’s been our 2nd trip on hipcamp and we enjoyed the nature and freedom of the trailer with a nearby fireplace for BBQ. There also is a dock at the lake for fishing and most of all impressive is the glass artwork studio and the unique difference of the site and conversations with the very welcoming hosts in contrast to the surrounding Harris area. The two white small dogs are very friendly!
