This camp and cabins are on ancient Ojibwa land snuggled right against the BWCA. I started coming to this land before i could walk. The Lakeside Cabin is about 90 years old, build by a Finnish immigrant, Waino Manninen, around 1929. It has a sauna built into the hillside beneath it. I had my first sauna there when i was 6! I restored the cabin and sauna after Waino's passing the 1980's, and built a second log cabin around 1994, which we call the Upper or Cook's Cabin, as it is a little further up the hill from the other cabin, and was originally designed as quarter's for the cooks at the men's retreats we've held on the land for 30+ years. both cabins are built int he Scandinavian "scribe-fit" style, where each log is handcrafted and fitted to the log below. They are very snug and warm even in -40 temperatures! My children have grown up coming to these cabins, and now grandchildren! We added a new toolshed and outdoor kitchen around 2013, so people can cook outdoors and enjoy the fire pit in good or bad weather. Actually, we say there' is no bad weather, just inadequate gear! I hope you enjoy and love our family tradition and retreat as much as we do. We always seem Mohave to leave one day too soon, no matter how long the stay.
