Fairhaven Farm is located 18 miles north of Duluth, Minnesota on a beautiful patch of earth surrounded by forests, rivers and lakes. On our 27-acre organic farmstead we grow fresh vegetables, herbs, microgreens and flowers and serve the city of Duluth and its surrounding communities. We also host Pizza Nights and serve wood-fired pizzas at the farm on Wednesday and Friday evenings. We strive to create a happy, healthy community in an environment of shared abundance and beauty.Staying at Fairhaven you'll be treated to a beautiful view of our 2 acre vegetable garden and our open field of native grasses and wildflowers. The site is easily accessible by a gravel driveway on a secluded part of our property.
We're located just miles away from paddling on the Cloquet river, or boating on many surrounding lakes (Fish Lake, Pike Lake, Island Lake). Hiking, biking, ATV and horse trails are also nearby. Our farm is located a quick 25 minutes (18 miles) from Lake Superior and downtown Duluth.
In general, this was a great site for my husband and I who were looking to hike near Duluth. The site was well maintained, more than enough firewood was provided, and the sunsets were beautiful on the bench on the hill. It was generally quiet and quaint.
That being said, if you're looking for a more secluded option I would not book on a Friday. Friday is pizza night and we luckily were able to make a reservation to attend - absolutely delicious and would recommend! However, we had a lot of pizza night guests walking through our campsite and kids running around for several hours which was a bit unpleasant.
It was very easy to find, nice flat space for tent. There is a fire pit, a table with benches and they had provided fire wood. There is a port-a-potty on the site. Potable water is by their outdoor wood fire oven. We weren’t able to do the pizza night when we arrived (Friday), because we weren’t aware reservations were needed.
You have to drive right by the event tent to get to the campsite, which wasn’t an issue for us. However, there was a wedding reception on Saturday at the event tent from 4-8. We weren’t made aware of this until Thursday before our arrival on Friday. It would’ve been nice to have known this before booking. We had to adjust our plans so we weren’t driving through the reception.
Overall a good campsite.
This is a gorgeous, private site with great hosts. Be sure to get the farm tour and thank me later! There’s plenty of space surrounded by flowers, a big fire pit with cooking grate, a big table, space for your vehicle, tons of wildlife, and a beautiful bench atop the hill that’s a short walk from the site.
Loved tent camping the Hideaway at Fairhaven Farms. Loved that you’re tucked away from everything, this place is perfect for unplugging and being one with nature. The view of the farm as well as the campsite were stellar. John and Emily are excellent and friendly hosts. 10/10 will be coming back again.
John and Emily’s land was really nice! It was raining all weekend and they were super generous with their property, allowing us to take respite from the rain in the barn. The pizza night on Friday was delicious and a very cool scene. We enjoyed our stay on their property!
