This cabin was built by hand in the 1970's from white pine that was cut and milled on site. Our family purchased and rehabbed this beautiful cabin throughout 2021. There is a mineral spring located in the woods nearby that used to provide water for cattle and a 19th century logging camp. Learn more about this land: Where the forest meets the field. Unplug and relax at Bundo's Cabin with extraordinary views of wildlife and endless outdoor opportunities. The modern yet cozy cabin has electricity and features a front patio, external bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, living area, and a sleeping loft with a reading nook. No matter the season, this cabin is a wonderful, cozy, and clean, place to relax, Feel free to roam around the 10 acre property and explore 80 acres of state land to the north. Deer, foxes, coyotes, turkeys, eagles and more are likely to be seen or heard. Explore, Banning, Moose Lake, and Father Hennepin State Parks which are all within 30 minutes, and return to the cabin to read, play games, listen to records, have a fire, and relax. The kitchen provides you with everything you need to prepare your meals including a refrigerator, small freezer, stove, oven, cookware, cutting boards, sink, seasonings, oil, and coffee. Water for washing is available via a pump faucet in the kitchen, and a composting toilet is located in the bath house behind the cabin. The cabin is efficiently heated and cooled with a very user friendly heat pump and gets the cabin to your desired temperature very quickly. We are grateful to honor the Dakota and Anishinaabe people whose land we occupy by donating $10 from every booking to the Makoce Ikikcupi Land Recovery Project. This project is actively working to return land to the indigenous people from whom it was stolen. You can learn more about this project in reparative justice at www.makoceikikcupi.com.

I cannot say enough good things about our stay! The cabin well decorated and cozy. The big windows let in so much natural light along with giving you amazing views of the field and woods behind it. We loved the record player and games. It was so beautiful snowshoeing around the property! We can’t wait to come back!

We loved our time here. The big windows offered a great view of the full moon on the snow. Snowshoeing around the cabin was fun, plus Banning State Park was 10 minutes away (more good snowshoeing!) Jon was a communicative and flexible host. It was great to find a to place that was easy to get to, but felt remote.

We had a wonderful, rustic experience in the winter. The cabin was all ready for us and it is located in a fairly remote and quiet location; very peaceful. We had a good time playing some of the vinyl records.

Cozy little cabin in a beautiful field! We enjoyed being surrounded by nature without needing to set up a tent 😊 Well maintained, the amenities were in flawless working order, and we loved getting out to the nearby parks. Worth a visit 👍🏻👍🏻

Perfect Spot for a Quick Getaway

This cabin is so great. The cabin felt spacious for my partner, our dog and me. The cabin had everything we needed and had so many unique touches. The land had so much space to explore and allowed our dog to get her zoomies out. Small bars, cafes and state parks are just short drives away. Can’t wait to return this winter.

A sweet little place!

Exactly what we needed ! Bundo's Cabin is a simple and refreshing place. We couldn't stop looking out the window at the field, and loved exploring the area. This is NOT the dusty/ stinky/mouse infested cabin/shacks you may have stayed in several decades ago! Bundo's Cabin is clean, cheerful, easy to maintain, designed well. Great stove, refrigerator, water system. Very comfortable sleeping place. The books and records are fun for the evening. I spent a lot of time watercolor painting outside during the day. What great morning light ! Two days was not enough. I bet it is gorgeous in every season. Thank you, Jon and family, for the care you put into this place !!!

We loved our weekend getaway at Bundo’s cabin! The forest surrounding the cabin was beautiful to explore with the fall leaves. The cabin was very comfortable, enjoyed having the oven to be able to cook. We had a great time browsing the books and the record selection sparked a dance party or two!

Peaceful and relaxing

Adorable cabin with a great view. Very private and nice property. Peaceful and relaxing. Cabin had everything we needed. Bike trail crossing is very close. The only problem is that we only stayed 2 nights, next time will be longer!

We loved our stay at this lovely cabin! Brought our two kiddos who had fun exploring during the day and watching fireflies at night. The cabin was cozy and thoughtfully prepared for whatever needed and more. Besides the mosquitos (bring the bug spray) it was a relaxing and enjoyable time!!

Birthday Getaway

We celebrated our daughter's one year birthday at Bundo's Cabin and loved every second of it! Every detail was thoughtfully designed and we couldn't get enough of the record player with a game of Scrabble every night. A magical hideaway we won't forget. We'll be back!

Great Private Cabin

A really great cabin on a great piece of land. The privacy and peacefulness of the location were #1 for me. The cabin itself is thoughtfully designed and has a nice offering of amenities (air, fridge, oven, stove, etc.) just enough to be comfortable but not over done. Jon was communicative and responsive, which is always helpful. Definitely recommend! (tip: if going during warmer months, don't forget bug spray!)

Perfect little getaway in the woods. Loved watching the wildlife rotate through the field throughout the day. Banning Park nearby had great hiking. The little cabin was well kept and comfortable for our weekend stay. Would recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be back in the future!

Late winter getaway--with dog

What a welcoming space! We enjoyed a late winter visit with plenty of snowshoeing, lots of deer sign (though only 1 sighting) and a wonderful pair of trumpeter swans. One of us even was able to use a mobile hot spot in order to Zoom on a laptop for a 5 hour class. Nothing like gazing out over a beautiful meadow from a cozy reading nook to rest the eyes. The terrific use of repurposed wood throughout the cabin showed off great details and the designer’s ingenuity. The heat exchanger worked perfectly and kept us at a comfortable temp even at our preferred lower setting. Our dog had a terrific time wandering the grounds with us and snored the night away ☺ The toilet glitch was attended to promptly – nice they had a backup outhouse though! We look forward to renting another day and exploring that vinyl album collection!

Perfect solo creative retreat

I came to Bundo's Cabin for 5 days to embark on a solo creative retreat. I've never done a solo trip before, so I was apprehensive. But, Bundo's cabin provided everything I needed to feel cozy, safe, and warm. It quickly became a refuge, a magical place that helped unlock years of creative blockage. I loved every simple detail: the stocked kitchen, the Bluetooth speaker, the record player, the game chest, the sweet decor, and the lack of wi-fi. In short, Bundo's cabin is perfect for folks who want to disconnect and find some peace! Thank you to Jon for being a responsive, helpful, and generous host and curating such a wonderful place. I hope to be back soon! P.S. For those wondering, I had decent cellphone service with Verizon. The driveway was manageable for my little sedan, it was well-plowed and there weren't any ruts. It might be a little difficult in mud season without a sport vehicle. There isn't a microwave. There is a small feezer. There are lots of outlets and the heating worked great. In regards to accessbility, there is a loft bedroom only accessible by ladder, though the main level couch folds down into a bed, and there is a step to the front door!

Absolutely amazing time!! We had such a fun and relaxing weekend at bundos cabin! We were looking for a getaway and boy did we get it! We brought our 2 dogs and had a great time relaxing and playing games in the cabin and an even better time snowshoeing and exploring the land! We will definitely be returning! Thank you!!
