A beautiful campsite and close to hiking, kayaking or canoeing, fishing. Allen is a great host and takes very good care of the sites and his land. The views are stunning and its very peaceful. Breeze helps to keep bugs away mostly.

Beautiful private, secluded tent sites at the top of a bluff overlooking the river with a nice big fire ring. Decent little hike to get up there, with plenty of other hiking trails on the land to explore! The land owner Allen is a friendly and helpful guy so that makes things all the more pleasant. My girlfriend and I had a great time and would definitely come back in the future!

Great place, isolated in nature. Allen was very welcoming. We recommand, it was a very nice place to stay close to the Mississippi River.

The Cedar Grove campsite was seriously amazing! Me and my husband spent the whole day hammock to look at the view and cooking over the bonfire! It was so much fun. We got to hear all the different birds in do bird calls and see them fly by as well as seeing little critters at night time very very safe very very calm. This was everything me and my husband needed to get away and disconnect. And it’s such a fun time being able to exercise and hike up.

Me and my husband had booked the Cedar Grove site for Friday Saturday and Sunday, but we ended up wanting to stay another day so Alan let us know that the Meadowland was available and it seriously was just as amazing as the Cedar Grove and a beautiful change of scenery with a beautiful little meadow that you get to be in with beautiful sunlight! Such peaceful noise in the background at night time and bugs were not bad at all!!! Everything is so well taken care of!! Allen and Cheryl were some of the biggest blessings to us. Definitely was divine intervention that we got to meet and get to be there if you’re looking to get away with you and some friends definitely book the Meadowland. There’s lots of space for friends and if you’re looking just to get away with your significant other, it’s the best place to be.

If you want total privacy, peace and quiet, a large campsite, amazing views, trails to roam, and don’t want to feel like you’re camping in someone’s backyard (which can happen with Hipcamp), this is your spot. You’ll need to have proper gear for “backpacking” (15 minute hike for us, mostly uphill) - lightweight tent, etc., as it wouldn’t be ideal to make multiple trips to your car.
We will be back sometime for sure. Close to La Crosse. We were in the area for rock climbing at Granddad Bluff ~20 minutes away.

I recently stayed at a Hipcamp boondock site in a peaceful pasture near a friendly farm, and it was an incredible experience. About this place: Al was a perfect host. Responsive, communicative, and flexible.
And the property…absolutely stunning. A spacious site nested under a canopy of ancient oak trees high atop the bluff, overlooking a majestic vista. Perfection.

I really enjoyed my short solo trip at Cedar camp site. Very private with some great views of the Mississippi from the edge of the bluff. It was mid 80’s and fairly humid, but the site provided much shade and had a nice breeze being at the top of the bluff. Bugs were not bad at all at the camp site. The walk back to my truck is where I got attacked by bugs…my fault didn’t spray down. Allen was a very gracious host and brought some wood up for me, so I didn’t have to carry. Would highly recommend if you want to just get away for a night. Plenty of wood to pick up in the area if you opt out of getting firewood from Allen. Really enjoyed it! Thank you!

Perfect spot on the bluff top! It is literally the highest point in every direction so rain would run off away from the site all around, (didn't have any rain anyway) but also, the bluff top breeze minimizes insects. Nice fire pit and just enough rock and log surfaces to find a spot to set everything. I hope to return to this awesome spot.

It was a fantastic experience! It was our first time taking our girls ages 6 and 7 backpack camping and they could not have loved it more. Great views, great camping location, bugs were not too bad, perfect temperature, all of it was wonderful! It had rained quite a bit for the week before hand and even the morning of out reserved day so the inclines were a bit more challenging with the trails being muddy and slippery but we all made it! We would definitely stay again!

Amazing campsite! The hike up was a challenge which made the whole experience even better, the view at the end is stunning! At night, nature gives natural fireworks show with all the fireflies! In the morning the sunrise is breathtaking. Allen does a great job taking care of the land, very friendly and helpful! My dog and I had an incredible time and we felt safe the whole time! I recommend it!

Amazing views! Al was super helpful and friendly. But it was also a very private camping experience.
Be ready for a good uphill hike. The woods are wild, the views are majestic, and yet you can tell the property is well loved.
Also, if you dont want to harvest your own wood, or hike, Al offered other services to make the trip more accessible. I had fun, and my kids had fun, everyone was safe and happy the whole time.

Allen’s land is picturesque. Located right on a bluff with access to spectacular elevated views of the Mississippi, this is a unique camping experience not usually afforded along the Mississippi.

This site was so great and the view was truly spectacular! Allen was extremely friendly, and let us fill our water jug and gave us a ride up in his side by side when we realized that our wood was too heavy to hike up with. FYI, the hike up is steep and there is no way that a car could get up there. I imagine that it's difficult enough to walk up when it has just rained as well and would rate it a difficult/strenuous hike up. We hiked down ourselves in the morning after we had burned the wood and that was no problem, just a little steep. There are cows grazing on the property in the area where you camp, just so you're aware. The site itself consists of two large logs set up for sitting and a nice big fire pit on a piece of open ground. Do yourself a favor and walk a short ways down to the scenic overlook for some reflection time. The view is a breath-taking blufftop view of the Mississippi River Valley. Be sure to get a warm welcome and farewell from Fat Cat! We had a wonderful experience and would definitely visit again!

Allen and his property was the perfect first camping trip using Hipcamp. We were blown away by the beauty of the property and how this experience compared to state run campgrounds. Excellent service and incredibly kind hosts. 5/5 and will be recommending anyone to camp at Allen's ground!

We spent the night on our way west. Al is an awewome host. We arrived late and he had wood ready for us. Awesome view of the night sky.

Loved staying at Bluffscapes! We were at site number one and it was a gem. It is quite a steep hike (took us 18 min) up but manageable with our items as we had backpacking packs. The view between the sites is very lovely! Lots of birds and even saw some deer as well!
