Woodpecker Creek Camping 40 Acres of Northwoods located 17 miles north of Marquette. Nestled in the foothills of the Huron Mountains, our space offers a peaceful and rustic off grid camping experience. Close proximity to all the outdoor recreation that the Upper Peninsula has to offer. The small town of Big Bay is minutes away with a general store, fuel, bar, cafe and restaurant. Our space gives guests an opportunity to unplug and unwind in a serene and quiet environment. Campsites are approximately a 100 yard walk in from the parking area. Each site is provided with a fire pit, covered kitchenette, and space for two tents. We are a Leave No Trace property and ask that anything brought into the site is also taken with you when you leave 🗑️ We do have free range ducks and chickens on the property and require pets to be on a leash at all times 🐾 OUTHOUSE 🧻 There is no standard bathroom. Guests have access to a hand-built outhouse located approximately 200ft from sites THE ROAD 🚗 The road in is a 1.7 mile maintained seasonal dirt road. We do recommend four wheel or all-wheel drive in the winter. It can be icy, bumpy, slushy, snowy and unpredictable! We will always communicate if and when the conditions are unfavorable ** EXPECT 🦟❄️ If travelling in the winter, expect snow. If travelling in the summer, expect bugs. These are the likely obstacles of our environment, and a fair trade off for living in such a unique and beautiful place. NEARBY 🥾 NTN Ski Trails, Yellowdog Falls, Pinnacle Falls, Powell Township Bike Trails, Burns Landing, Lake Superior Beach Access, Sugarloaf Mountain, Hogsback Mountain, Little Presque and tons more! Amazing!
Absolutely my favorite stay in a two week multi state trip! The Sugar Shack is an experience as much as it is just a beautiful, restful place. The hosts clearly showed attention to making any guest comfortable. I highly recommend the Sugar Shack to unplug, reset.

Just secluded enough, the bathroom was very clean. I also appreciated the covered table that was at this site, perfect for my breakfast.

We had a lovely time camping at Wood Pecker Creek! There were so many touches of thoughtful hospitality from the covered kitchen areas (which were a life saver on rainy days), to the lovely local maple syrup for sale, and the most glorious/cozy/beautiful outhouse I have ever seen. We will absolutely be back!

First time camping since I was a child and I have to say.... I loved it!! The site was clean and well defined. Clear directions to the site made it easy to navigate. Outhouse was exceptionally clean and organized. Quiet and peaceful area, very little noise heard from the owners and other campers. Will most definitely be returning!!!
