We are OPEN for 2025. We are so grateful and fortunate that we DID NOT receive any property damage from the recent ice storms which caused massive power outages, extensive property damage, and state of emergency for most of lower northern Michigan. Proud to receive the 2024 Hipcamp Star Host Award! A SINGLE PRIVATE rustic campsite on beautiful 10 acre lightly wooded field. Surrounded by apple trees. Site including entry is all grass. Roughly 80'x60' Fire ring, picnic table, outhouse, and trash receptacle provided. Campsite faces west providing beautiful sunsets. Roughly a mile of hiking trails on property. Access to hundreds of miles of ORV, hiking, and skiing trails nearby. Multiple restaurants, bars, and golf courses within 2-5 miles. AMAZING Northern Lights and dark sky viewing area with gazing platform provided in center of campsite property. Firewood for sale $4-$5/bundle available within 1-2 miles. Access and boat launches to Twin Lakes, Black River, Black Lake, Long Lake, and Cheboygan River within 1-5 miles. Convenience stores within 2-5 miles. Black Mountain ORV and hiking areas within 2-5 miles. 20 minute drive from downtown Cheboygan. No privacy , right next to the road , can see his house was watching us through the window. neighbor came right onto site the moment , which was uncomfortable and weird ,said he was be hunting which I respect and understand.. Evan himself is rude and disrespectful wouldn't agree or recommend this place at all. Terrible experience and now threatening me over some ruts. People please be careful when you choose this hipcamp. Do not recommend and will never go back.

Super easy to find, amazing carpet of wildflowers greeted us. Fun to walk around the fields that are nicely mowed with solar lighting that lead you to the platform for stargazing. Outhouse is clean and near campsite.

Quiet Stopover with Big-Sky Views

Sunset Campsite
Sunset Campsite is quiet and peaceful. During the day you hear birds, and after dark there’s a lightning-bug show in the tall grasses. The pad is flat, drains well, and faces west, so sunsets are wide-open. The country road to the back of the site gets maybe four or five cars all day—so brief they never break the calm. Now and then you might catch a faint hum from the distant highway, but it’s so soft you may not even notice it. The host’s house and one neighbor are within sight but far enough away to keep the site feeling private. You’ll appreciate the amenities, especially the fire ring. This is an ideal spot for anyone who wants to feel safe but not crowded. It’s a pleasant stopover that beats the busier options near Mackinac Island and the Mackinac Bridge.

A lovely site. Watching the deer prancing across the field was a delight. The stars at night were full and beautiful. A great spot with a telescope

We enjoyed our time tent camping at Sunset Campsite. It was everything we wanted to get away from all the noise and just BE at peace. Will definitely return.

We enjoyed ourselves here. Very peaceful and relaxing. Evan made everything easy and enjoyable. The heads up on the Northern Lights was much appreciated as well.
