We absolutely loved staying at this campsite. Samās dad, Tony, was super nice and helpful, definitely made us feel welcome. It rained most of the time we were there but still had a ton of fun. I will definitely go back again!

Sporley lake was beautiful and the hosts parents Ann & Tony made the trip unforgettable! We arrived in the rain and they were kind enough to invite us into their home to ride out the storm. They gave us a lot of good information about the area and places to visit during our stay. They were also just a lot of fun to hangout with and talk to. 10/10 will be going back next year!

The camp spot is private with plenty of wood for the campfire (payment via Venmo). The location is near lots of hiking trails and close to Marquette. The weather was very warm in August and there werenāt any bugs!

Has real potential and you can see the owner is working on projects. It was fine for making a night as we cruise through the area. It wasn't clear what we had access to, but it was late and chilly. There was no phone service or phone wifi here. Made for a nice night listening to nature. Luvkily the owner kept lots of cleaning supplies in the bathroom....

Great family, that cared about how we were: comfortable & able to join them anytime. At one point their family thought we were friends or family of a wedding, that was taking place across the lake. It was hilarious, and felt welcoming. We didn't join the wedding festivities, but loved the music. They didn't play late, and we didn't hear any rowdiness. Think I heard relaxing piano music after dark. They are kid friendly, and our dogs enjoyed all the space. Site options gave us lots of room. Beautiful area, and short walk to lake. Outhouse was convenient since no sewer hookup. They are working on a shower, which would be amazing, because RV showers have to be super short. We were surrounded by beautiful woods. Had picnic table, and cute fire ring. We saw a fox, deer, and a baby black cub with no mama bear. We were close enough to NMU (30 minute drive), and a dollar general not too far. Also local hospital was about 40 minutes away (I got a hook stuck in hand, and had to visit E.R. on a Sunday evening). We explored waterfalls, Picture Rocks, and Sporley Lake. Fishing was pretty good, and the water is beautiful. We brought our kayaks, but they had some available also. And we could store ours at the bottom of the stairs, so we wouldn't have to climb all the stairs back up, with them. Thank you to the family for such a great spot!

The Hilltop at Sporley Lake was a perfect retreat that had stunning forest and lake views. The bathroom was clean, electricity worked great, and had plenty of room for tents. Sam and Tony were awesome hosts that were super accommodating and it was clear that they wanted us to have the best experience we could. My friends and I have gone camping for the past four years and we all agreed that this camping trip was the best one for sure. Really close to the grocery store, pictured rocks, and Marquette. All around an unforgettable outdoor escape and hope to go back soon!

Our site was plenty big enough for our camper we stayed on the alternate site. The hilltop site photos are a little deceiving as the site appears to be looking over the lake which it is not and it is very small. We met Tony upon arrival he is a nice guy he took us for a ride around the lake on his pontoon which was enjoyable. We took our float's down to the lake for a enjoyable float around lake. There was a eagles nest nearby so that was cool to see and hear them also All in all if your looking for a quiet place to stay this is it.

Great. No issues. Host was nice and welcoming. Helped us with anything we needed. Weather was terrible so we couldn't enjoy the lake as much as we wanted to.

Tony and Sam were the best hosts! They made our group feel so welcome and were very accommodating. They went above and beyond showing us their property and a good time. I canāt say enough how awesome these hosts are and how much fun we had because of them. Really great people and a really great time. 1000x better than any campground experience youād get somewhere else. Such a hidden gem of the U.P. and we'll definitely be back!

As our first time using HipCamp, our expectations were exceeded with this location! We had the best time! It was out first time visiting the U.P and the location was gorgeous! Electric was easily accessible, the host was very nice and accommodating! Afraid to book anywhere else, because I'm afraid our experiences won't be matched! Highly recommend!

Beautiful site - peaceful lake - we are self contained and we just pulled in and slept - too rainy and cold for swimming in the morning but it wouldāve been perfect!!!

We loved this place. The lake was beautiful, the stars were out in full force and the hosts were so kind, welcoming and accommodating. It was the perfect getaway for some rest and relaxation. We also enjoyed exploring the surrounding area. We will definitely be back.

This site was above and beyond my expectations. I'm doing a long-haul trip across the country and wanted to go through the UP because of its reputation for beauty. I was hesitant to book, as they are new and didn't have a lot of reviews, but Randee's review was spot on! The site is lovely - perched right above a lake, beautiful stars at night, multiple places to pitch a tent, and great access to Munising for the Painted Rocks, and Marquette and Presque Isle Park. But what really makes this a truly outstanding Hipcamp is the hosts. My host, Tony, has to be one of the nicest and most hard-working people I've ever met. You are made to feel welcome, and are treated like family - in the best sense. They make sure you feel welcome, but if you are looking for space, they respect that, too. Tony offered great suggestions for a day trip itinerary, and I was fortunate to meet some extended family in the area. Incredible experience - as Randee said, I would come back to the UP and camp here to see them all again. Sam and Tony, thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality. I hope to see you again soon!

The hilltop was a hidden gem on Sporley Lake not that far from Marquette. We booked last-minute on a Sunday afternoon on a busy Memorial Day weekend.
After a less-than-stellar experience at our original campsite, we decided to take our chances on booking a place that has no reviews and so happy we did! The Hilltop was beyond expectations.
From the moment we arrived, the hosts were incredibly welcoming. They showed us to our cozy campsite, complete with a picnic table and fire pit. We were in a camper van and the spot was easy to park in and was leveled. They had electric hook up option too but we didnāt need it. The property is owned by a lovely family who've put their heart and soul into creating a perfect getaway.
If you're looking for a welcoming, peaceful spot to relax and recharge, look no further. We'll definitely be back (and will go out of our way to stay again).
Thanks to the wonderful hosts for making us feel like part of the family. We can't wait to return !
