We have a 12 acre permaculture homestead that is tucked away, but still only 7 miles from Lake Superior and the town of Baraga. It is partially wooded and features a spring fed pond and a shallow creek that twists through the woods. We enjoy doing things old school here, i.e. attempt to cut the majority of our hay by hand (scythe), tend a little garden, raise a pig or two, shepherd free range sheep and watch over our free range laying hens. We have two dogs and two cats as well, and all of the animals on our property are very friendly. The secluded road the property is on is perfect for walking or bike riding and our neighbors even host electric bike tours.

A Hidden Gem!
My partner and I had a lovely stay at Erica’s place. There family was very welcoming. Their dogs were so much fun to play with, and their property is beautiful. I am sure we will come back here. This is a hidden gem!

Kind and Thoughtful Hosts
My partner and I stayed three nights here in October 2022. We purchased homemade breakfast, bread, and half a dozen eggs. For the homemade breakfast. They asked ahead of time if we had any allergies or food restrictions. They invited us into their home, and cooked a ham, potato, egg and panukakku breakfast. The food was well made and tasted good. We felt welcomed into their home. We chatted with the couple and they introduced us to their pets: two cats and two dogs, and young children. Erica gave us many choices for the kind of bread we wanted. It was very nice receiving a warm loaf of bread while on our camping trip. Elijah showed us the chicken coop and encouraged us to pick our own eggs. Elijah took us on a walk around the property. He told us about their chicken and sheep and he gave us information about the fungi and plants on the property. The couple were very welcoming and thoughtful. They made sure we had everything we needed and kept themselves available if we did. They checked in on us about once a day, which we thought was a good amount. Their two dogs, Paisley and Beck ran around the property often. They were very sweet and playful dogs. We enjoyed having them around. Overall, we greatly enjoyed our stay here and would love to revisit one day. We really appreciated this couple's kindness and hospitality. Thank you Erica and Elijah.
