Stroll through streets lined with beautifully restored turn-of-the-century homes and notable landmarks such as the Honolulu House, Governor’s Mansion, and Capitol Hill School. Each September, the Historic Home Tour showcases these stunning 19th-century residences, drawing history buffs and architecture lovers alike. Additionally, Battle Creek, located 20 miles from the preserve, offers a glimpse into the region's past, named after a skirmish that occurred in 1825. This vibrant town is home to the renowned Kellogg and Post Cereal Plants, along with various food-packing industries.
