Poncho's Pond RV Park stands out as Ludington's original full hookup RV park, offering a unique blend of exceptional customer service, pristine facilities, and a commitment to providing an unforgettable camping experience. Founded by Bob and Carol Smith in 1988, this park emerged from a bold vision to transform a construction yard into a welcoming retreat for RV enthusiasts, despite skepticism from local business owners and township officials. Initially opening with just 100 sites, a single pool, and one bathhouse, the park's first year was modest. However, as word spread about this innovative destination, Poncho's Pond began to flourish. With a growing customer base and Bob and Carol's desire to semi-retire, the day-to-day operations transitioned to their son and daughter-in-law, Poncho and Nan. Under their leadership, Poncho's Pond RV Park expanded to 226 full hookup campsites by the year 2000. The park continued to evolve, adding additional pools, a new bathhouse, a fitness center, and an increasingly busy schedule of planned activities. Consistently awarded Woodall's highest "5W" rating, Poncho's Pond was recognized in 2007 as one of the top 1% of privately-owned campgrounds in the nation by Trailer Life Magazine.
